I've had a 42 for almost 15 years. PB washers, Loctite and high quality oil take care of all the complaints about it. Smooth AF still my favorite Bali. I did only pay 180$ for it new though lol.
What's your opinion on 42 knockoffs? Mostly I just like the style and don't give a shit about the Benchmade name, and I found a good looking clone called The One 42 out of China. You can get them with the channel titanium handles, so I was curious to get the community opinion on these. Some reviews I've seen say it's still a damn good flipper and at $80, it would be an EDC bali that I wouldn't really give a shit about if I beat the hell out of it flipping it and cutting with it.
Someone call benchmade and make them make the 42 again. Like honestly if they do it correctly and don't fuck it up this time, the hype around it will be crazy. They will sell a lot and they could probably put an insane price on it. The demand is there, they need to give the supply
@@LastBastian . So I'm taking economics and I am an advocate for capitalism. So here's the math again. There is demand, they can create an artificially low supply, increase the price and sell out. Benchmade is literally not following correct business practices. In economics and finance there is not logical reason why benchmade made the decision not to make the 42. Like if you are the ceo you have to be mentally ill not to make the 42 again. I am using every cell in my brain to think of a possible reason. The titanium price isnt even bad atm

I shouldn't complain, since I own a 42 and could sell it now for literally four times what I paid. But I'm in it for the love of blades, and I feel bad for those who can't get their hands on one.

Why did you take the latch off? Not only is it one the best spring latch designs, but it was added for balance between both handles. By taking it off, you fuck up the balance. Oof.

The markings on that one are… suspect (dark and wide lines-but could just be the video quality, too). Also, if that’s milled/drilled, it’s definitely not a Benchmade 42.

Actually cast handles for the 4x. I believe the only milled titanium handles on a Benchmade bali is the 87.

The handles are cast, not cnc milled or drilled. Only the Chinese clones nowadays are cnc milled.
