I just celebrated yesterday (5/1/24) seven years freed from alcohol addiction ☺️
I’m still mending the relationships with family and friends who I once turned away through the addiction that gripped me for years after escaping the monster who set it in motion, but which I finally triumphed over with the strength only a supernatural force could provide.
I’m grateful for one good thing that came out of the OJ Simpson trial back in the 1990s, and that was how it gave me the strength and courage to flee from a very similar type of person who could very easily have shifted from sociopath to psychopath and end me, but I fled before possibly becoming another case on channels like yours.
I’m so sad for this young lady who was never given the chance to fully break her chains of addiction as I did and go on to live a better life 😢
May her loved ones find peace in her personal monster’s capture and imprisonment.

It's so sad, because I know how much work and rewarding it can be to go down the recovery road and she was only at the beginning of the journey of a brand new life. I so hope that she might be in somewhat of a peacefulness and not having to battle the disease everyday and the abuse that he did and the abuse of words that can be so harsh to early sobriety. Imagine having to go through life explaining to everyone important to you that your father killed your mother. I can't grasp how people can have zero empathy or consideration. Alcohol is a terrible drug. I was a raging alcoholic for decades, trying anything and everything to escape its clutches.
I remember sitting alone in my truck at the forest preserve, desperately wanting to just throw the bottle into the woods and just walk away, but completely powerless to do so. It literally almost killed me, and after giving myself pneumonia from aspirating my vomit and having my esophagus swell shut from the stomach acids, I laid in bed for 3 days waiting to die. It was a dark, dark time for me and my wife. Miraculously, when I recovered, I no longer had any desire to drink and still haven't 4 years later, despite dealing with some very intense stuff in the interim.
My thoughts and prayers to anyone struggling with any addiction out there. It controls you 100 percent and the feeling of powerlessness is overwhelming. I got lucky. Most don't. Take care of yourself, everyone. Not for anyone else. It doesn't work that way. You have to do it for you. Peace.

I admire anyone recovering from alcoholism and drug addiction. I narrowly escaped the gene in my family, but its done its dirty work. Some people can't ever get out of it, or use it as a crutch for their narcissism. Thank you for being better than the disease and an example to others.

Hey Adrian! I live in Canada and would like you to cover the case of Paula Anne Gallant who was murdered in 2005 in Nova Scotia. The twist for me is that her killer Jason McCray is my husband's first cousin so it sent it entire family in to shock waves when it happened. I have never heard of anyone who has covered this case before so it would be interesting to get your perspective as I love listening to your vids. Thank you!

I lost a good friend to alcoholism. She was well educated and highly talented, a really lovely woman. But she was brought up in a household where a bottle of wine in the evening was normal and it just grew from there. She tried to get help from the health service on numerous occasions but they take the attitude that you have to get sober before they will help you, that policy is destined to failure. Even when people can break the habit there's often a long waiting list to get the help they need to stay off substances, to help their mental health etc. We need to do so much more to help these people because they are such a huge drain on the resources of society that the amount of resources needed to help them would be very well spent.

When I was a much much younger man and far dumber than I am now; I had a bit of a drug problem. Currently, I am gratefully clean. During that period of my life I regretfully committed some very mild and petty crimes in pursuit of a fix. During that time and in that mindset I would get that feeling of getting away with something and “outsmarting” the authorities. It was so so stupid and juvenile in retrospect. Just to clarify, I’ve never been in a fight or robbed someone, therefore, I’ve never physically harmed anyone. But I can only imagine the buzz he was feeling from “getting away” with very illegal crimes and “outsmarting” the authorities. It fills my heart with happiness and joy to know it was all orchestrated by the law in order to bring him down. I wish I could have been there when the cops basically told him, “gotcha bitch!”. It’s crazy impressive how the detective befriended him(which I can imagine the suspect was just loads of fun to be friends with lol) and the crimes that they committed AND the length of time this all occurred over. What an absolute legend. Now I’ve got to search on here for more instances of detectives doing this to catch suspects.

Sorry: was the judge talking about her birth family or foster family when she said the family "loved and cherished" Clair? Because the birth family didn't seem to if they kicked her out of the house for acting like a teenager. Maybe this wasn't included in the story, but that puzzled me. Where were any of these people when this traumatized girl/woman was thrown out of her family home, became an alcoholic, dated abusers, and had babies with them, several of which were taken from her? That's the real tragedy that caused immense suffering.
