What’s wrong with it? Sounds fine to me and I’ve been playing 50 years. I never use the clean settings on mine. IMO, the whole reason for using a Marshall is that you don’t need any boost or overdrive/distortion pedals.
Yes mine sounds good after 3 returns to the place i bought it from, i finally got it sorted with different new tube combinations, it didn't seem that bad when you first bought it?
Mine sounds amazing. Maybe you got a bad one. I buy through sweetwater so i get the 2 year warranty. I also have it hooked up to a HK112 extension cab.
i plugged into a dsl40cr at a guitar center a few weeks ago and managed to get several decent tones pretty quickly.... maybe you have to consider the possibility that you just suck and like to complain lol
You’ve solved it with your genius. I suck and clearly dedicate all of my time to complaining. Next thing you know I’ll be talking shit at strangers on the internet, oh wait, that’s you. Hope ur ok dude. 😂🍻
Try running a gate pedal through the FX Loop. Marshall is notorious for that hiss with its Ultra Gain amps, hence the mods you mentioned in the video. That’s just insufferable though dude, and I know you know how to dial in tone.
On one hand, this review is from a guy who doesn't like Marshall's, but bought one and doesn't like it. On another hand, this particular amp just does not sound very good at all. Seems a lot of people had to go through a series of them to get a good one. It was also fair to say all of our guitar legends' Marshalls were modded. Even though this seems like an amp that is like a gateway to learning tube amps, it should be better than this. As much as I would like to buy the MESA (or Friedman, or anyone else) equivalent, we go from $750 to over $2k. I've yet to own a tube amp and I really want to try one. If I do buy this amp, it will only be after playing it in the store first and still wanting to buy it after.
Something’s wrong with this one I’d say. I rewatched my original videos from couple years ago and it sounded fine, which is why I bought it. Kinda weak that it’s gone bad just sitting unplayed. Seems to be a big problem with this amp. I returned it twice before this one. 🤷🏼♂️
@@alwaysandy_ I ended up trading in a bunch of old gear I didn't want and grabbed one of these. I played a few in the store and took home the one I liked most. So far so good, but I had this series of video's in mind when trying them out. It really sucks that yours isn't up to par, but I do appreciate you showing us this issue. Very weak indeed. I was looking at the Blackstar MKIII 40 Combo equivalent as well, but that amp is $1100 and I was able to get the Marshall for $660 with sales, promotions, etc. It made the choice a lot easier.
There’s either two issues here, there’s a problem with your amp, or you don’t know how to dial it in. For one, adding pedals to a bad tone will rarely improve it. Secondly, while not bad, your playing is fairly inarticulate in places. Thirdly, it sounds very harsh, maybe you have the treble, presence or mids too high.

🍻
You have a lemon there, sad to say. Nothing like mine sounded - it's usually valves (tubes!), but also the biasing is especially critical on these.
Totally!🍻

Nice! I dunno maybe it sounded better. It’s just sat here, hasn’t even been moved. 😂
The joyo pedal is adding a lot to that noise floor
More like boosting. I’ve used this pedal for years it’s not that noisy.

Insufferable is a good word for it. Spot on as usual. 🍻🔥
After seeing so many positive reviews and actually owning one it’s a great amp at a $750 price point. I think you’re reviewing the product with bias.
Well mine isn’t functioning properly, is the verdict. But yes I’m biased 😂

You should probably watch my previous DSL videos dude. 😂
