She is wonderful and knows so many tricks now …. She just gets so very stressed when there are lots of dogs about …. It’s heartbreaking as she winds herself up so much she ends up in a right state
@@TheNarrowboatPirate Rescue Remedy works well for most dogs & cats. It is a good homeopathic 'aid' for anxiety. You add it to their water. I hope it helps.

The owl hooting reminded me of a night when June and I heard an owl out in the middle of nowhere. June got her camera set up and we sat on the roof of the boat waiting to see if she could get a photo of the owl. After a couple of hours sitting under the stars listening to the owl and aurora appeared in the sky so June took a long exposure photo of that. We never actually saw the owl but it was a lovely romantic night.
Bonny seemed a bit spooked during the Gray Lady walk, I’m thinking she saw a lot more than you did, as you know, dogs have much keener senses than we do… 👻
Your a shining light in the Darkness Heidi. I can always count on your Vlogs to cheer me up. And As for Bonny ,I am sure she couldn't ask for a better Captain.

Hello Heidi and Bonny .. what a fun video today. Based on the looks on Bonny's face, she may have seen the Grey Lady even if you didn't .. animals are very perceptive that way. Putting along the canals with the two of you happens to be one of my very favorite things to do. I appreciate that you show people that for all the joy living on a narrowboat brings that there are things that must be done ... just like living in a house. We are the same as you, we even rent private fields to allow our rescue boy time to run free. He literally hates other dogs and is soooo reactive. We have tried everything but think he was traumatised by kennels. He had no voice when we first had him. 7 years on and hes still anti other dogs lol but we love and support his special needs xxx keep going Heidi x

Just keep doing what you're doing with Bonny & whenever possible distance her from anything she finds stressful. Quick fixes rarely work long term & patience is the key. You know from your teaching days that learning isn't a strictly linear process. Take a look back and see how far you've both come, congratulate yourself with a rum & give Bonny a treat 🙂

Heidi it’s called obedience. Sit stay,drop,leave it alone, lie down, come, my blue healer now has manners we did 2 years of obedience and I used to cook up some snags they work well on food
Yes I know it’s called obedience 😂😂 we just making them into games now to get her to try focus on me when outside with lots of distractions about but the minute there is a dog she is fixed and they don’t work 😂 we are sticking with it as she has improved so much since I got her but even wafting a sausage in front of her nose doesn’t work a lot of the time 😂😂

I agree with other comments about Bonnie. I have a border terrier who is possibly a little more " killer" than Bonnie . Mind you it is the breed. But my dog sits and watches your videos and pays attention to everything you say. So just keep up the way you are working with her ( and my dog too)😊 N.S
Aww you are lovely. I've recently bought myself a small 22ft sailboat to cruise & live in, I will eventually get a bigger sailboat. It's called Mischief which is a perfect name for me haha. Can't wait to start the boating lifestyle, just working to gather some funds. Bonnie is so cute by the way.

We always used to moor up just along from where you were - opposite the marina. The Sexton used to make the most divine grilled cheese on toast (in the world) we would have this and then buy ies to take back on board. A lovely place to moor and a lovely little town to top up on food supplies. Lymm was a big favourite
@@TheNarrowboatPirate Dogs are amazing animals, some years ago my dog was in a panic, and this was a dog who was scared of nothing and nobody, she was a big dog to have on your lap but there she was shaking, not just on my lap but stuck to me like glue was bonding us, obviously frightened but I didn't know why. So, I'm trying to pacify her, next thing there was an earth tremor and I'll never forget the way she looked at me, like, see, I told you. Us humans had no clue but she picked it up, something was going to happen .. Lesson learned, listen to your doggie, they know more than we do. although how you prepare for a threat when you don't know what it is is another thing 🙂
I'm so enjoying your videos! Bonnie's a real boat dog! You asked if anyone has any tips for reactivity... so try this: once Bonnie sees another dog approaching, get her attention then scatter treats/food into the far side of the path, away from the water and as close to the hedge so she can be busy 'finding' as the other dog passes. This gives her a job and builds a positive association with other dogs. She can learn to stop fixing on them as she relaxes into her game. Good socialising comes when dogs learn to ignore each other unless they both want to engage. (I'm a behaviourist working with rescue and trauma dogs!) Keep up the awesome work! I'll be following as hoping to be a liveaboard soon, but down south xxx
Well, seeing as she has gone from being scared of every noise and even the wind blowing to now just not liking big dogs then I am hoping after this last hurdle is crossed she will not get stressed anymore 😃🏴☠️

I agree with other comments about Bonnie. I have a border terrier who is possibly a little more " killer" than Bonnie . Mind you it is the breed. But my dog sits and watches your videos and pays attention to everything you say. So just keep up the way you are working with her ( and my dog too)😊

Aww you are lovely. I've recently bought myself a small 22ft sailboat to cruise & live in, I will eventually get a bigger sailboat. It's called Mischief which is a perfect name for me haha. Can't wait to start the boating lifestyle, just working to gather some funds. Bonnie is so cute by the way.

We always used to moor up just along from where you were - opposite the marina. The Sexton used to make the most divine grilled cheese on toast (in the world) we would have this and then buy ies to take back on board. A lovely place to moor and a lovely little town to top up on food supplies. Lymm was a big favourite

@@TheNarrowboatPirate Dogs are amazing animals, some years ago my dog was in a panic, and this was a dog who was scared of nothing and nobody, she was a big dog to have on your lap but there she was shaking, not just on my lap but stuck to me like glue was bonding us, obviously frightened but I didn't know why. So, I'm trying to pacify her, next thing there was an earth tremor and I'll never forget the way she looked at me, like, see, I told you. Us humans had no clue but she picked it up, something was going to happen .. Lesson learned, listen to your doggie, they know more than we do. although how you prepare for a threat when you don't know what it is is another thing 🙂

I'm so enjoying your videos! Bonnie's a real boat dog! You asked if anyone has any tips for reactivity... so try this: once Bonnie sees another dog approaching, get her attention then scatter treats/food into the far side of the path, away from the water and as close to the hedge so she can be busy 'finding' as the other dog passes. This gives her a job and builds a positive association with other dogs. She can learn to stop fixing on them as she relaxes into her game. Good socialising comes when dogs learn to ignore each other unless they both want to engage. (I'm a behaviourist working with rescue and trauma dogs!) Keep up the awesome work! I'll be following as hoping to be a liveaboard soon, but down south xxx

Well, seeing as she has gone from being scared of every noise and even the wind blowing to now just not liking big dogs then I am hoping after this last hurdle is crossed she will not get stressed anymore 😃🏴☠️
