Wonderful, thank you Benita. I’m so glad you mentioned “family” in the toxic relationship scenario. Too many people think you must continue those relationships regardless, bcuz they’re “family.”

    Dear Benita!
I absolutely agree with cutting toxic friendships, after almost 2 yrs of Covid I know love being more alone and concentrated on what I love!
    Hejdo!

I do for me now. It's seems selfish to some, but only the one's who no longer get something from me, outside of friendship. I read a lot, go to museums and small day trips. I enjoy good homemade food, animals, long hikes and taking care of myself physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. I am a natural introvert and I don't fight that anymore. I rid my home of so many things this past month, the idea that I had to have a home looking a certain way, with certain things, for what? Nothing. SO much happier.

Congrats on making your decision to leave your corporate job! That was a high stressed type job. You have made some great choices in moving forward in life. Part of what you're experiencing is aging gracefully. It's wonderful to step into the next stages of life while doing self care. I love that you take long walks each day - good to clear your head and appreciate nature. I too have cut toxic people out of my life - Whew how nice is that?

I just watched a minute and have to comment straight away.. People's time management skills are usually so bad that they can't realize how someone with a peaceful demeanor can work full-time and more. They fail to understand that it's exactly this approach that enables productivity, combined with simplicity and organisational skills.
Benita, now that you're no longer in the corporate world maybe you could make a video about that experience? Just a thought - I like all your content anyways x

Congratulations on the job situation! These are great tips. I really love your outdoor space. Its so cozy and neat. As for the tips, I had to cut my own sister out of my life because she was the worst energy vampire, and after even just talking I'd have anxiety issues. People thought it cruel, but sometimes we have to look after ourselves first and foremost.

Oh my goodness - congratulations! I am so so pleased for you! I can only imagine how hard you have had to work doing 2 jobs, as well as dealing with your health issues (hopefully now doing ok with that??) so it is well deserved that you can continue to succeed on You Tube. I love your videos, they are so calming and inspiring. I have been a minimalist for a few years now yet I always get some motivation to improve or change things when I watch your videos. The tip about toxic friends is so so true. And I did this myself and never looked back. All the best for the future! x

The biggest mistake i made when divorced was moving to the Village where my family lives....but i had a severe burnout and didn t think much about it...but i stayed depressed and tired for many years, cause of my family mixing to much in my live...i still wasn t free....only now with lockdown i re-discovered myself....thank you so much Benita for the idea of toxic People!!...it helps me a lot not feeling guilty!! Congratulations on your decision to leave corporate life. I recently left my corporate life behind after 40 years, and moved out of the city. With your videos as constant encouragement, I have let go of things that no longer serve me, and I am settling into a slower life routine. It was so nice to hear from you about letting go of toxic relationships, I've been doing that recently but still felt so guilty about it. Especially in relation to family members. These were great tips overall and I agree with and practice pretty much everything! The only exception would be that my husband and I love doing things together more than anything. We love experiencing a little of each other's interests and seeing each other happy in their element is super rewarding for us. It helps that we share most of our interests but still, I'd say that as long as you're truly happy and fulfilled when you're "joined by the hip" that's fine too 😊

Congratulations, Benita! I retired almost 3 years ago and because of the tumult of the last year and a half, plans were changed. But as a minimalist, it was ok and I used this time to pare down my life even more. I stopped having my hair colored and love the low maintenance (and the look) of my silver hair. Thanks to you, I went through my possessions and donated a lot of clothing and costume jewelry that I haven't worn in years. I run/walk every day-weather permitting. All these things contributed to making this period more serene than difficult. Thank you again for your continued inspiration, Benita.

Congratulations on leaving corporate life behind! That's such wonderful news, I'm so happy for you :) There is such valuable flexibility in working for yourself, and I think you'll love it. I stepped off the hamster wheel in 2019 and left behind a workplace so toxic it took me a month to de-stress. I'm in Year 2 of officially working for myself (as opposed to doing it as a side hustle). Great vlog and attitude on life Benita. I too am considering retiring from my day job but am a little scared of leaving behind the security of it. The drudgery of deadline work is really taking a toll on me and I know I need to gracefully walk away from it. You seem so good at making up your mind. How do you get mentally prepared for it? What is the key to that?

The first tip is much more important than one would first think. Especially if it is about toxic family members, who _can_ be harder to deal with than friends. The 'breakup' is difficult, and can take quite a while to process, but it is absolutely worth it in the end. The peace of mind that comes with it is liberating on a whole different level. In my experience I finally felt that I could make my own choices without feeling bad about it. Now I can just be me, and my shoulders are not up in the ceiling anymore.

I got rid of my toxic relationship which was my marriage. I have been free for seven years. It was the best thing i ever did.

Congrats to you! A new journey and different pace! I can't imagine the time it takes to have your channel, but I certainly do appreciate your time and sharing. I work from home (I work a lot - the only difference is for me is the flexibility of my time). Exercise is so important for mental health and physical well being - I love audio books (I am dyslexic - so this brings me so much joy to listen to someone read to me). I heard a commercial the other day in the background (can't remember what the content was), but the voice sounded like you - very comforting. Enjoy your day :)

A great video, thanks! Interesting to see you talk about toxic relationships, these aren't mentioned enough when talking about how to simplify your life. I was joining Zoom work happy hours at the beginning of the pandemic and then realized I dreaded them, was much happier when I stopped joining!

So pleased for you. Amazed you’ve managed to do both jobs so long, your cats will love having you around more. When I remarried & moved I just didn’t tell quite a few people, including some relatives, where I had gone. My time since then has been so much more peaceful.

Hi Benita, you look so well and sound so happy. You have obviously made the correct decision for yourself. It has taken a few years, but I follow your seven tips. They make sense. I grew weary of having to meet people for drinks etc. in the evening. Being an early bird and an early morning power walker meant that I was tired by the evening. Chilling out in my garden with a glass of wine is my idea of bliss. I meet friends for lunch these days. The only good thing about lockdown meant I could organise my house to suit my needs. No more frantic rushing around looking for keys, chargers etc. I love your channel, and I look forward to seeing what you do next. Best wishes and continued good health to you. Sláinte. It took time to untangle myself from people and "stuff." I am much happier with less. I'm not finished yet! We live in different countries, but we have similar taste and lifestyle. All the best for your future endeavours.
