Thanks for the video Christopher. Did you happen to weigh the seats when you removed them? Just curious what kind of weight savings there is when the seats come out? Thx
Thanks for the video. For the odd condition of the front passenger seat having a top tether - I'm guessing that they use the same seat for cargo vans in which case this would be the only passenger seat, so if you only have a parent and child in the van, the tether would be needed. (I have 2018 148" LR 15 passenger - love it!, get the ecoboost!)
Thank you! Your instructions are so specific I was able to unleash the seats myself, (I'm 61) and only needed some strong men to actually move them. Van life loading!
HUGELY HELPFUL video! I can't even get a Ford dealer to remove them, I am a pretty old lady, lol. So I got my Torx set and am ready to go. Just have to get my Son to help me lift them out. THANK YOU, this video was a godsend!!!!

OMG!!!! Thank you so so so so much for all this DETAILED Info. I took a lot of time and effort 👌 💪 🙂 I Really Relly appreciate it. I'm currently buying a Transit passenger 15 seat 2016 fur a camper. @@ChristopherLum, thanks. Will check your YT videos out. Am wondering if there is a way to protect the floor behind the 2nd seat and yet still have floor vents useable?
This has been very helpful. I'm looking to rent a van and I dont need all the seats. I didn't know it they would lay flat or if they were removable. The rental place made it sound like they don't come out but they probably never been asked that question .
Thanks for all your time and detail on this! It's very helpful to see the nitty-gritty stuff. I've looked at lots of photos online, but it's still hard to discern some of the things that might be important. The links to the Ford Brochures were SUPER.

Awesome video, I can appreciate all of your hard work on this! I’m renting a van for a week long trip with 8 adults and looking to see how to configure it and remove some seats for cargo / coolers
I'm glad it was helpful. I've got a bunch more van videos on the channel. Please feel free to check them out and please let me know what you think in the comments. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the video Chris. We just bought the same model and this was very helpful for removal of the seats and planning on which seats to remove. Will definitely be looking for more videos soon.
This was great! Thanks for the complete demo of how to clear out the van. I am relieved that the seats are basically easy to remove (by two strong, patient people). It is incredibly helpful that you showed the exact structures and mechanisms, and gave us the torque head wrench sizes you used. Thankfully, I would only have to remove 6 seats from the 8 passenger MR FTC Wagon. I wouldn't want to keep the removed seats. Maybe a Ford dealer would uninstall and keep them. If not, I know how to get 'em out, thanks to you.
Hi Christopher, great video, really helpful :-) I would like to install only 2 seats on the first row. Is it possible to take seats 5 and 6 and install those in place of 3, 4 and 5 ?
Wowww glad i saw this as I was wondering if i could switch out a 15 passenger to 12 but I can see the way the they're connected there's no hole on floor to move last row seats to 3 row making 3rd seating 4 seats instead of 3 seating. 😢😢
Your video helped me remove my seats with ease! Thank you Thank you Thank you! Question: The protruding floor plates, did you remove them? If so, how? I can't find a release and the only thing I can think of is breaking the weld? Any ideas? :)
Great video, super helpful. Do you know if it’s possible to get around the 3 second row seats while the sliding door is closed or is it too narrow? (I know there’s a step there)
Front seat is equipped for car seat for the dad with a work van that only has 2 seats can pick up his child from baby mommas house for weekend visits yet still has the entire workspace in the back to pay 18 years worth of child support
Very helpful! one thing I discovered is there's a hole in the side - after you pull the lever on one you should stick something in the hole to hold it open...
Omg this helps a tooonnnn!!!!! Do you think I can installed a 2 person bench in the 2nd row (take out the 3 person bench)? Would the same idea work in a crew van? Switching the 3 p bench for a 2 p bench! 😁👍
Thanks for this video. It was very helpful. The child seat on the front passenger seat is not without purpose. Not sure if someone else addressed this in the comments. You can turn off the front passenger airbag with a switch, or, in some cars these days, it automatically turns off airbag if the weight sensor does not pass a threshhold. The purpose for having a child seat anchor in front passenger seat is because in the event you take out all the seats, like you just demonstrated, but still need to have a toddler go along for a ride, the front passenger seat is it. Not ideal place for small children, but almost all passenger cars these days allow for the front passenger to take a toddler seat without the airbag being an issue.

@@saran-zu9lz It sounds like you found my van conversion playlist. I'm glad they are helpful and I will continue to add to this list in the future. Good luck with your purchase, I've been very happy with the Transit so far!
My guess is the reason they have a car seat anchor in the front passenger is if you are using a cargo van configuration and need it in a pinch. It should also have weight sensors to disable the airbags for passengers under the safe limit.
Great video! I need to transport 15 of the 2023 transit seats, in a vehicle that is significantly smaller than the Transit that they came out of. So I know I'm going to have to Tetris them in order to get them to fit. Is it possible to fold the seats down after they're removed? Typically with an SUV or Van, you'd be able to fold down the back of the seat onto itself to allow for extra cargo/carrying space. I don't have the seats with me (this is a job I will be doing for someone else who owns the seats but needs them shipped), so I'm not able to check for myself. Are you able to tell me if your seats will fold down after being removed?
The top tether on the passenger side front seat is for rear facing car seats. A rear facing car seat can be tethered down to the seat in front of it. And since the seat close to the door does not have a wall next to it it’s highly recommended that you would tether it in
Chris did you ever figure out how to get that seatbelt to work again? I expected mine to do the same and even tied a knot in it so it didn't retract too far yet it did lock anyway
Hi Christopher, have you tried to take off the floor? What is the thickness of the floor and what is the ducking layout beneath it? Are there rails hidden under the floor that could be repositioned to move forward the 2nd-row seats?
Thank you very much, i am planning buy one ford transit passesnger van for selling art, i am planning take off all the seats, now i have to figure out how to install racks in it, for displaying my art
Great video, very help. When removing the bolts on the rear seat, the seat belt tensioner retracted or locked up on you. How did you resolve that tensioner issue?
Thanks a lot for the video. Can the 2 seat bench be placed in either the left or right position of the 3 seat bench. I mean have it be a 2 seater against the window or a 2 seater centered. Thanks!

Unfortunately I never had a chance to look at other configurations but looking at the brochure, it looks like the 12 seat would have the same rear seating configuration as the 15 seat. I believe that the 10 seat is only for the short (130") WB whereas the 12 seat is for the long (148") WB. Personally, I really like the 148", especially for camping with a family. You might want to swing by a dealer to look at them. There are tons of Transits in the Seattle area. Thanks for watching!
