Backcountry Skiing Canada reviewed the Salomon Guardian 16 AT Binding which is a big and burly alpine touring binding ideal for resort and slack country ski touring.
For people thinking about buying these, nowadays they are MNC, which means they support both touring and alpine boot soles.
Thanks for letting everyone know!
Man, that's a very needed comment, thx!
Been looking for other at binding than the marker f 12 and this looks wayyy better
Not sure they are still making these as it's been over 7 years now and their SHIFT binding has really taken over from the Guardians: www.backcountryskiingcanada.com/Atomic-Shift-Binding
What is your boot size?
Why i cant fit my boots?
My personal boot size is a 314 BSL, but you should be able to fit any boot size if the bindings are mounted properly. If you bought the bindings pre-mounted on a pair of used skis then there is only so much adjustment available and you may have to remount them. The other issue may be that you are trying to use them with a non compliant DIN sole on your touring boots that is simply too rockered and not designed to fit with these bindings?
Thank you so much for your quick response!! I guess that I'm using the wrong boots(Dalbello DS 328mm 28,5) and yes the skis are used with pre-mounted bindings but i think that there is only one specific length to mount these bindings because if you make it longer or shorter the safety pins won't fit!!?
@@stavrosmtls6020 Not sure what you mean by "the safety pins won't fit"? The Guardian bindings are a frame binding so as long as you have the correct binding size for your length of sole (BSL) then there should be no issue, given that the boots have the correct sole DIN. Your best bet is to take them to a reputable ski shop and have the ski tech look at them. There wouldn't be a charge for this and they will be able to determine the issue right away. It is tricky to figure out the issue online like this.
@@Backcountryskiingcanada Understood!! Once again thank you for your help!
You bet, happy to help. Hopefully you get it all sorted soon as the season has begun in some places!!

how comfortable are those Salomon boots?
Are you referring to the Salomon Quest 120 Max? If so, they are super comfy, nice big toe box but good foot hold and stiff for skiing all terrain. Read the review of those here: www.backcountryskiingcanada.com/Salomon%20Quest%20Boots%20Review or read the reviews of the newer models here www.backcountryskiingcanada.com/Salomon-Quest-Max-120-BC-Boots-Review and here www.backcountryskiingcanada.com/Salomon-Quest-Pro-TR-110-Boot-Review
Skiing the hill, do you mean, yo-yo front country skiing?
Meant skiing the ski resort, it's tough enough to take that kind of abuse, where as most touring bindings are too light and delicate to use at a ski resort day after day. It's heavy on the up track for touring but it can do it all.
@@Backcountryskiingcanada Thanks. I like your BCSC postings. Nice and clear.
