It's awesome to see a video that shows the guts of the controller. I'm not interested in the NES classic, but now I'm really excited about the fact that the new controller's board has the same dimensions as the original NES controller's board. With a simple board swap, you could essentially get a brand new, official quality controller for the old NES.
(2 Years late I know) Kinda not possible since they use completely different technologies. Whilst the original NES has pretty much everything on a separate chip the classic doesn't even have these chips. The classic mainly has a main processor that then emulates the chips from the original console
The N64 controller worked well even though it was cramped despite being huge and the analog worns out. If they make a few changes to the controller it would be nice.
odstar You can pretty much extend any cord by clipping the wires, soldering it into a patch cable/cord (where "patch cable" doesn't necessarily imply an Ethernet or IEEE compliant cord) and taping it back together. Works fine with any of my game controllers. Some of them I've had for 20+ years, so viability isn't an issue...
Hi Tronics. I have an NES classic mini and I recently noticed that when the console is off (power button not clicked-in), the red light will turn on and off periodically, or will remain on for several seconds with a notice indicating; “shutting off console” (or something along those lines) on the TVdisplay. The console and games that I’ve tested appear to be working fine however, the reset button has lost all functionality. I’ve never hacked the console and cannot find any information regarding this problem on the internet. I’m not sure if a short has taken place, but was hoping that you can shed some light on the matter if possible. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Yeah that's basically a Raspi, that's about it... It's honestly a waste of money. If you want to do this, there are tutorials on how to make a Raspi - NES... This is one of the biggest scams since Nintendo said "hey we are revamping Pokemon gold and silver/Ruby and Sapphire!"
The biggest costs for this system come from the licensing costs for the games. Eventhough the games might be old they are still under copyright and downloading them online is illegal. Basically if you're buying the NES/SNES classic you're buying the games not the console.
Nice to see inside without paying but nothing "amazing". Just using the most ubiquitous hardware currently available and selling on the brand name alone. There have been knock off NES on a chip devices with hundreds of games, and a front-end, since about 1995. They were even small enough to fit inside a single controller back then. Retro sells, I get it! What I don't understand is, if they are going to piss with the controller connectors and make it incompatible with the original, why not have wireless controllers instead of the pitiful 3ft lengths.
What comparation the mini have a dual core AMR processor 2GB ram ,and can run easily neo geo and arcade game upscale 1080p also the fitters make the graphics much nicer then was on the original hardware
Love to have a video on how to repair the old NES cartridge connector. Since people do not know that is the most common issue with the NES. Blowing on the game does nothing hahahahah.
I've heard blowing on the game is sometimes a temporary fix but eventually your saliva gets inside the game cartridge and messes it up. I could be wrong though
Isn't the NES mini just emulation though? Somewhat inaccurate emulation at that? (The static noise from the audio is sampled, but incorrectly, without randomness, very easy to tell when you fire a metal blad in Megaman 2 for example because the sound comes out the same every time)
4get the mini Nintendo should of done a full blown new nes console that accepts nes carts with HDMI for 200 . thats the price point of the AVS and people are dumb enough to pay 300+ for a 60 dollar emulator scalpers made more money off the mini then Nintendo did
I agree. A full blown NES console would have been nice. Just print 2019 on the plastic and make it will modern chips if they want. I can't plug my Nintendo Zapper into the mini NES.
Joseph Brandenburg it's not the NES Classic is easy to break anyways. With other consoles, you have to worry about the much beefier power supplies burning out, disc drives, hard drives wearing out, and bad system software messing up the console. You don't have to worry about any of this on the NES Classic Edition.
Even if I don't have the original NES machines, I prefer to play it with the actual NES controller. (I still have the original NES and it still works). I have played on PC with Nesticles and fceux but I prefer being on the couch + having the real NES controller.

You should give more detail on the specific chips comparing them

Thank you, this is such a big help to portabilizing my NES. (Renamed NESY Advance.
Damn you! I wanted to watch you put it back together. That's okay though. Thanks for the breakdown, and comparison.
Holy sheet! Motorola had its hand in the old NES controller workings? That's pretty rad!
Its just an old 4021 shift register. Most chip manufacturers have their own version of it. Motorola was likely just the cheapest supplier at the time.
I want N64 classic edition
The nostalgia would be ruined by clunky controls.
The N64 controller worked well even though it was cramped despite being huge and the analog worns out. If they make a few changes to the controller it would be nice.
Thiago Turgo I got the original N64
I want that dental pick
Sm64, smash bros, starfox, final fantasy 7, ocarina and majora, 007, some other things...
Can you show us what we can use to extend the control pad cable to 15 feet long. :) I would try it myself
Just posted the link in the description.
Thanks! I also saw in Amazon.com " My Arcade GamePad Pro" wireless :)

that brings back lots of fun memories!
"nintendo NES" SMH
jlebrech lol yeah n in the nes alteady means nintendo xd
Nintendo Nintendo entertainment system
Looks like they are using the same tooling for the Controller, to the point you should be able to swap parts without needing anything special.
Does anyone know what the number is on the shift register in the original controller is?
Its just an old 4021. I think Texas Instruments still makes them, but im not sure.
I was lucky enough to find one at the stores, but I had to work for it!!!

I kinda want an NES classic edition :D
Johny1220 kinda?

Wow! So the NES Mini had a smaller board and fewer screws.... I'm flabbergasted.
Too bad he didn't give board dimensions. I want to convert one to a handheld.
Great man
why is the original nes so swole
I really need to buy one, but could not find any place
Raed Abbasi try dk oldies
PS4 Pro 30 years later will be like classic NES size
Werner Wolff the Xbox one will be the size of the first IBM PC 😄
The classic edition's game pads need more powerful and sophisticated chips to do the exact same work?
Just with that board, they could make up to a Wii Mini Mini.
What comparation the mini have a dual core AMR processor 2GB ram ,and can run easily neo geo and arcade game upscale 1080p also the fitters make the graphics much nicer then was on the original hardware
please tell me how can I fix yellow light on ps3 ?please
Is that like the RROD for Xbox 360?
On the 360 it meant the fan was not working and/or it was running too hot.
Nes classic edition has better cooling than ps4 pro :|

Good idea
Look for jerryrigeverything’s old video, he has a good one

Does the NES classic edition use a different processor and if so what chip is it?
it's probably an ARM or FPGA/ARM(less likely) job. i haven't looked into it but that's how most of this stuff is now a day.
some cortex
Its an ARM Cortex-A7, the same CPU at the Raspberry Pi 2.
Isn't the NES mini just emulation though? Somewhat inaccurate emulation at that? (The static noise from the audio is sampled, but incorrectly, without randomness, very easy to tell when you fire a metal blad in Megaman 2 for example because the sound comes out the same every time)
how do u make your own xbox1
i am trying get hold nes Classic Edition . still have original Nintendo

@@louistournas120 Unfortunately, the Zapper needs a CRT TV to work. It won't work on a modern TV.
@@EvilSandwich :
Why not?
@@louistournas120 It's designed to read a white box that doesn't display quite as well on an LED screen
There goes your warranty...

Fantastic :3
Was i the only person that heard the sneez in the bakgrund?
WAIT your nes has NO HEAT SHIELD TOP!
Original > all clones, FPGA, emulators, reproductions
