Was fortunate to be at this Tribute Concert with my two kids. I was never able to take them to a JD concert, as they were too young. I did take them to this concert......center stage, 3rd row! It was unbelievable!!!
John Denver was a gift to poetry, music and the world. His music was from the heart. I took piano but when I would listen to his music I could pick up the music by listening to my Dad's stereo. I was 12 /13 and found that I could take my guitar anywhere...backpacking, camping, and Even on trips around the world. Piano taught me to read music...John gave me the gift of expression musically in the 70s and now my greatest Christmas gift from my father is my 50 year old guitar. Once you play you learn that every guitar has unique qualities. I cherish mine. I will forever miss JD and music left undone...However I am eternally greatful he lived and shared....
THE LATE GREAT GOD GIFTED JOHN DENVER UNIQUE IRREPLACEABLE BRILLIANT I HAD THE GREAT PRIVILEDGE OF SEEING HIM IN CONCERT IN MY HOMETOWN CORK CITY IRELAND IN THE SUMMER OF 1986 IT WAS FANTASTIC JUST JOHN AND HIS GUITAR THE CROWD WERE ENTHRALLED BY HIM A WONDERFUL SPECIAL HAPPY GOLDEN MEMORY FOR ME JOHN DENVER DECEMBER 31ST 1943 TO OCTOBER 12TH 1997 R I P AMEN ❤
I lived in englewood Colorado in the 70s John was blowing up the radio with great songs . As a teen his music and kind gentle nature touched me forever , Thank you John.
I was born just 13 days after John - 12 January 1944. I have loved music all my life, being in a choir on radio at 8 years old. I first became aware of John around 1970 but it was in 1973 I heard the words ' he was born in the summer of his 27th year' ............ it seemed to light my life being of that same age - from that day on I was captured. I love all his music and his absolute talent. Though from New Zealand I was lucky enough to see him live on four occasions - sadly, the fifth time was to be at Mission Vineyards in Napier New Zealand in February 1998. Of course, this did not happen due to his passing. 22 years on I still miss him and his music
This tribute concert to John Denver was out of this world he really all of us to be nice to the animals and the environment, Olivia Newton John did amazing as the host of the event and all of his former bandmates friends and family told the most beautiful stories about how much they loved him. RIP John thanks for making these incredible songs
I know this is a tribute to amazin' John Denver but I want to say when Olivia Newton-John was on stage everything around was shinning with her, people smile and everything seems to be fine. She was really a force of nature.
He may have left us some time ago but he is fondly remembered in many parts of Asia.including here in Malaysia...most of us can still sing his many memorable hits and will cherish his one and only live concert here in Malaysia in 1994...Thanks John Denver
Just returned from a tribute concert in Aspen celebrating John's life, 20 years after his passing. Hearing an orchestral presentation of his music is pretty cool, as was the tribute concert in Aspen. Still, there is no one who can do JD music like JD!
He came to my elementary school in Jacksonville, FL back in mid 80s. I was in the 5th grade at the time. I didn't know why we were all sent to the cafaturiem and on stage was this blonde guy with glasses and an acoustic guitar sitting on a stool. I didn't know who he was. Then he began to sing Puff the Magic Dragon, Leaving on a Jet Plane, then Country Roads. Everyone was fixated on the stage as was I. It was the most beautiful sound coming from the stage that I had every heard. I'm so fortunate to say that I at the age of 9-10 got to hear John Denver live in concert and got to shake his hand. I had no clue who he was at the time. It was so powerful that I still remember a good deal of the concert even today at the age of 40.
He was the best singer I’ve ever heard, he touch so many life’s with his songs. Every time i go camping. He’s songs are with me as i stare in. To the fire of my campfire.
cora I feel just the same Like you. sometimes I think "music should make me happy" but I so often feel sad and have to cry after listening to john because like you say, why did he go soooo soon. such a gifted person as John Denver will never exist anymore. RIP my dearest man, Thank you for all the gifts you have the World.
I see 5 people disliked this video and only 7 commented... Sometimes I see absolutely horrible stuff on the internet with over millions of views! I have been sitting here crying because my heart is breaking. This feels like some sort of homecoming to me. He could have been there - he would have been only +- 68 years old, and he could easily have lived for another (how many?) years. What would his legacy have been like if he could have stayed a couple of years more? I have been singing along - and still crying - with his old orchestra buddies. Even the orchestra is doing an amazing job with Hal Blain.- the conductor who played with him for so many years. I love you John - I still miss you every day and thank you for saving my life so many times xxx
+Cora Rossouw i find his music to be a true piece of art. it was a sham he died before i could here him in person. why couldn't he not moved the fuel switch on his plane?
Tranquila el siempre será un buen cantante, una buena persona, un buen músico y su calidez y sencillez un ejemplo....el se fue, pero nos dejó un trozo de su alma plasmada en su música.....Saludos desde Chile
Cora Rossouw I also miss him so much and wished he was a bit more careful when getting on that damn plane. This is a beautiful piece of Tribute and I am sure John is enjoying IT up there where he is happy!
Watching this concert on RUclips is so touching which makes me remembering those concerts I went to watch John. What a wonderful man who gave the world so many beautiful tunes.
First cassette tape I ever bought myself (HS Sophomore) was his greatest hits collection (1990). Jesus in the Gospels say that what comes out of a man's mouth reveals what's in his heart. Rightly so with JD.
Such a special man he was. How he managed to have such a strong, meaningful impact on me all those years ago, as a young girl in 2nd grade, says a lot! My best friend and I would joyfully sing his songs all the time. I was hoping to hear Fly Away with Olivia. But this was lovely either way. 💙🎶 Talented bunch!
I wonder when this cuts off at the end as he’s taking about John flying back over the mountains… and the patch of blue underneath the storm.. hard to think of.. love him soo much.. fantastic see he and Olivia sang together ❤️🧡💚🕉💙
I met JD when I was 7 years old, in 1977 in Aspen CO. He invited my dad and I into his house as we drove by to see the "famous" John Denver. to me he was an idol. We had a n 8 track in an old Bronco and that s all we played. His voice and his musicianship brings me memories I cannot let go. he I an amazing artist and not to be forgotten
+John Davis sadly i wasn't alive while he was and i wish i could see him in concert but cat any more. i wish could have memory's of him like that. the closet i got to that was when me and my family went camping in west Virgina. we listened to him the whole way. i don't remember exactly where we went when i was there but i know it was a days drive.
Thank you so much for posting this! I've never heard John's music without his beautiful voice. The orchestra sounds incredible. What a lovely tribute to a man who is truly missed. This is wonderful. Thanks so much!
the transposition from ANNIE'S SONG to Take Me Home Country Roads and the ending of that song - was arrangement in 1980 by a Scots fiddler, who did a John Denver trilogy. It is the opening bars from Scot. Trad. tune De'il Amang the Tailors.
Corrections: The Conductors name is Mr. Lee Holdridge. Hal Blain was a drumer from New York who play with John's band for most of the 1970's. Hal Holbrook is an actor who starred in many films like "All The President's Men", "Star Chamber", and many more.
So the first performer messed up the lyrics There was something in the city he couldn't breathe There was something in the country he said he couldn't leave...thats what it should've been
Hi, it's me again. I think I,ve made a mistake. The name of the conductor was Hal Holbrook, not Hal Blain. If I am wrong again, sorry!! But I still love John and will continue to do so for the rest of my life... xxx
Hi, it's me again. I think I have made ANOTHER mistake! His surname was Holdridge... I am so sorry Mr Holdridge. I've known you just about as long as I have known John. I will get there yet! xxx
Denver DID have a great advantage - he had a "pitch perfect" voice - only about 1 in 50,000,000 people are born with this and not all are singers!!!!!!! (Elvis, Sinatra, Bob Hope, Beverly Sills, Adolph Hitler (yep!!)) Humans are very attracted to pitch perfect voices!!!!!! Denver couldn't hit a sour note if his life depended upon it!!!!!!!!! And sorry to say - but Justin Beiber has one - so he will be around for a while!!!!!!!! For these people - singing is NEVER a problem - they cannot his sour notes!!!!!!!!!! Denver once tuned an RCA concert piano - using only his voice. Later the same day - a piano tuner came by and the piano was in perfect tune!!!!!!!
I agree. Someone asked John once why he thought other musicians didn't record his songs. He said he didn't know. I think it's because they didn't feel they could improve on his version. His voice is extraordinary.
I was so hurt that after all these years he hit his wife. We all make mistakes; but I just thought he was to good a guy for that. Just human I guess....
Hard to sink in feelings of John and Olivia now, both singers were amazing. RIP John and Olivia.
Was fortunate to be at this Tribute Concert with my two kids. I was never able to take them to a JD concert, as they were too young. I did take them to this concert......center stage, 3rd row! It was unbelievable!!!

Hello 👋 Dear. How are you doing? Hope you are fine. I'm Zack Hudson and am from Denver Colorado. You seem like a real country girl
John's natural charisma is just the only thing needed.
I know this is a tribute to amazin' John Denver but I want to say when Olivia Newton-John was on stage everything around was shinning with her, people smile and everything seems to be fine. She was really a force of nature.
That orchestra was truly amazing!!
A wonderful tribute to a wonderful human being.

My favorite will always be his duet with Alexander Gradsky "What Are We Making Weapons For"

The Orchestra's opening is fantastic. Thanks for posting
The eagle and the hawk......first tune I learned and thanked John face to face for being a mentor 1975. I STILL play it.

Sicuramente John Denver e' stato uno dei più grandi della musica country; ascoltarlo provoca sempre grandi emozioni. Guido Rosita.
I listen to rock and metal, I like this music very much when I heard it.
I know all his songs by heart

The performance of Poems, Prayers & Promises was terrible . Where did they get these guys from ?
Thank you so much for posting this! I've never heard John's music without his beautiful voice. The orchestra sounds incredible. What a lovely tribute to a man who is truly missed. This is wonderful. Thanks so much!

RIP, Jim: you were a true aficionado of JD's!
Wow? Beautiful
Olivia was always such a class act! Perfect hostess

John Denver tribute sing his sings
Nice tribute, but their voices sound so subpar compared to John's.

The only drawback is they forgot to include Calypso.
THEY CHANGED THE LYRICS - "Some say he was a *******Pastor*******"
Listen to the original lyrics :)
I am going to Sleep for tw hours I am going to Univercity Amelia
There is John Denver and then there is Robert Flack... And then...?
I was so hurt that after all these years he hit his wife. We all make mistakes; but I just thought he was to good a guy for that. Just human I guess....
