My son was 4 years old, i showed him undertale as his first video game. It was eye opening for him, the music, the story, the characters. The complexity of meaning. It helped him read, do maths and understand story writing. The game has a special place for us, especially the music. He's 9 now. I played this song on the drive home from a camping trip. Didn't say a word. We haven't played for 2 years and not really spoke about it. I looked in the mirror and could see him with the biggest smile ever and eyes welling up. I don’t play undertale. I don’t watch much undertale. I know a bit of the story. But this makes me feel like I played for years and it digs deep into the story. Wow. Outstanding!
The song actually isn't really that fast :/ their are a lot of shorts notes that make it feel fast, my guess is that it's somewhere in the ball park of around 130 or 140. Maybe slower

honestly just this whole cover is good as hell. i really appreciate the fact that you took it at the original tempo and didn't use some slow ass piano cover like most people do.
I dunno, I definitely like this version a lot, but I also really appreciate having the slower piano version as a counterpoint. This works well for the battle itself, the piano version has a more subtle menace to it that works on the "I'm going to savour killing you" angle, or a sadness that works from the "I just want this all to stop" angle rather than the "I am your reckoning" slant seen here. That's one of the things that amazes me about this fight without actually playing it. It has been fucking mythologised by the community. It's kind of amazing that it's had such a Hector and Achilles effect and has led to so many different interpretations.
I remember hearing the original by Adriasaurus. That one brought me tears with its emotion. I’m glad to see that, even as a metal version, much of the emotion is preserved.

I think one of the reasons this song works is because it was composed without lyrics in mind, and so when the lyricist had to put lyrics to it, some decisions atypical of rock and more typical of opera had to be made. Good job.

Practice is the main thing, after that having good lungs should help a lot too. People who sing or play instruments that require the use of the lungs have practiced for a long time and because of that finds it easier to do. I myself can hold that as well, though for me its more because I have really good lung capacity from jogging at a regular basis and having ran a couple of marathons and charity runs, though I am really bad at singing, so its not like that aspect of it comes to good use. Controlled breathing through the entire song should also help prepare you for that last part, kinda like when you run. I found it a lot harder to keep the tone jumping right into it than when I started singing a couple of seconds before that part and got time to control my breathing. Note: I am far from trying to diminish the talent, I am merely stating that if someone wants to learn how to do it practice is key.

I dunno, I definitely like this version a lot, but I also really appreciate having the slower piano version as a counterpoint. This works well for the battle itself, the piano version has a more subtle menace to it that works on the "I'm going to savour killing you" angle, or a sadness that works from the "I just want this all to stop" angle rather than the "I am your reckoning" slant seen here.
That's one of the things that amazes me about this fight without actually playing it. It has been fucking mythologised by the community. It's kind of amazing that it's had such a Hector and Achilles effect and has led to so many different interpretations.

I think one of the reasons this song works is because it was composed without lyrics in mind, and so when the lyricist had to put lyrics to it, some decisions atypical of rock and more typical of opera had to be made. Good job.

Practice is the main thing, after that having good lungs should help a lot too.
People who sing or play instruments that require the use of the lungs have practiced for a long time and because of that finds it easier to do.
I myself can hold that as well, though for me its more because I have really good lung capacity from jogging at a regular basis and having ran a couple of marathons and charity runs, though I am really bad at singing, so its not like that aspect of it comes to good use.
Controlled breathing through the entire song should also help prepare you for that last part, kinda like when you run. I found it a lot harder to keep the tone jumping right into it than when I started singing a couple of seconds before that part and got time to control my breathing.
Note: I am far from trying to diminish the talent, I am merely stating that if someone wants to learn how to do it practice is key.
