It actually has a lot of the new Smash version in it, it has both leitmotifs of Heartache and Bonetrousle, and it also had that calm little bridge part, just not quite the same.

So the guitar playing is cleaner in this version, but the bassline stands out more in the old version. Both songs are great, I think people will respond differently to the different tones that are highlighted in both versions. Honestly I synced them and played them together and STILL really enjoyed it. It will be hard for me to give up the old 'Nihilist' version, I really like the punchy baseline while jamming in my car. This is a fantastic re-tuning of an already pretty great song. Perhaps that crunch time 2-3 days made the song feel very real and 'imminent danger'-like where this one sounds more controlled.
Too many people refer to Sans as a "nihilist." He's totally the opposite. He struggles with fatalistic thinking, sure, but that doesn't make him a nihilist. Fatalistic thinking can often lead to a nihilistic outlook, but with enough Determination, the sufferer can instead become an anti-nihilist (which is what Sans does). If Sans was a true nihilist, then he wouldn't bother putting up any resistance against the Phantasm of the Genocide machine. I refer to it as a "machine" because, if you take that route, you're just a cog in the underlying corruption. Or to paraphrase Nick Cave's 'Red Right Hand': "You're just a microscopic cog in the catastrophic plan...designed and directed by a Red Right Hand."
actually, BOTH versions have the bass (the actual instrument, not the tonal range) really way down low in the mix, to the point where it's almost inaudible, except for a few very brief moments strewn here and there.

This is the first _Megalovania_ I've heard to incorporate leitmotivs from other _UNDERTALE_ songs and suddenly I realise what that track was always missing. This interpretation feels like it finally completes the piece...!!
I was just wondering how I could justify using this music in a TTRPG session, and it occurred to me that if my players ever wanted to do an evil campaign, I could make it BACK-BREAKINGLY difficult, and if they avoided a TPK, in the next campaign I'd give them all the flaw "When I am lost in thought, my face takes on an evil grin" or some such, and if they want to get rid of the flaw, they basically will have to kill the memory of the evil campaign haunting their (presumedly good) PCs If they're having a deep/long conversation out of character, I'd throw charisma saving throws their way to catch themselves before the memory of evil takes over and they settle into a creepy ass grin. (which would of course have consequences if they fail)

I guess that’s what it means to have “your sins crawling on your back.” If I put this music in an animation of Sans vs Frisk, when it reaches the Bonetrousle part I would probably put a little flashback of Frisk killing Papyrus.
Wait I just noticed the hand motion he does in the beginning is a reference to Homestuck, when Vriska and Tavros are fighting they make thumbs up and down at each other. But like, amazing cover and I love the big of Bonetrousle in the middle oh my god.

the thing i like about with Megalovania the most is the instrumental break. it's like Toby Fox put that part there whilst mentally saying: "yo, go haywire in this if you're going to cover it".

After listening to this version and the old version on loop countless times over the last week or so, I can safely say I love this one more. And I also noticed, after listening on a shitty pair of earphones, that this version is mixed and mastered better. It sounded much clearer than the last one! Great job! :D Oh, and the solo just KIIIICCKKKSSSS ASSSSS!!!
See but in reality I’ve noticed a lot of changes from your first cover that show a lot more Rich and Scoot. The arrangement of this one is much better, the recording is cleaner, and the solo fits a lot better in this one. Rich, I don’t have enough time in the world to tell you why I love your playing so much, but watching you evolve as a musician over the years has been an excitement and a half. After listening to this version and the old version on loop countless times over the last week or so, I can safely say I love this one more. And I also noticed, after listening on a shitty pair of earphones, that this version is mixed and mastered better. It sounded much clearer than the last one! Great job! :D

See but in reality I’ve noticed a lot of changes from your first cover that show a lot more Rich and Scoot. The arrangement of this one is much better, the recording is cleaner, and the solo fits a lot better in this one.
