Did TidRadio Listen to my Request? Is Airband improved? Still a Bug?

- TidRadio have added 8.33Khz step to the latest firmware but is there still a bug? Has it improved the radio for Airband RX?
The firmware version 240625 can be found in the files section of the Facebook group here:

Excellent video, I love this radio, it's always evolving. 73's WA2TWF
This radio always feels like a work in progress, there are some third party firmware releases doing the rounds but these feel the same, I still like the radio though
Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it 👍
Mine is arriving today!
Thanks for watching, enjoy the radio! 👍
Great video, just a reminder this is a $30 radio in the US. And your airband comparison had 2 different antennas? Am I missing something?
Your correct, I was using the base antenna for one clip and the stock antenna for the other (that was my mistake). I was really trying to compare the audio quality rather than the signal strength. Thanks for watching.
I see a complaint that airband reception is still poor. I wonder how they have implemented the 8.33kHz spacing? Are the makers, and indeed some users, aware that the published frequencies for an airport are not actually the transmit and receive frequencies (in most cases)? I would assume that a radio at this price level doesn't have a proper 8.33kHz system like an aircraft radio would have and that you will have set the radio to the actual frequencies e.g. if the published frequency is 132.035 MHz, the actual frequency being used is 132.0333 MHz.
Thanks for your comment and for watching John! Yes it's still not brilliant but at the end of the day it is a low cost radio. I did have to try and explain that in the email to Tidradio. I did attach a link to the OfCom page explaining it further, however like you say, I'm not really sure how they have implemented it either.
Hi Ben, I might have bricked mine during a firmware update, any thoughts on a hard reset that I could do to recover radio, if not, I'll just buy another one.
Is the radio flashing the top white light?
Hi, I'd suggest sending TidRadio a message. They are very helpful I have found. Thanks for watching.

dumb question: you have 3 links HAM, GMRS, Unlocked as this radio does HAM, GMRS, Normal is there a reason for delineating all three separately or are all the firmware updates different?
Not a dumb question at all. Yes I believe you are correct and each version requires a different FW. Thanks for watching.
Nice radio ben
Thanks Scott 👍

How can a manufacturer of thousands of units not be aware of the frequency spacing of the different radio services their radios are designed to receive. The airband on these radios still sound terrible. Can these FM transceivers truly replicate AM in receive ? If they can’t, why include these services on the radio.
I can only guess it's because they are not in the market for AM airband radios. Hopefully future FW updates will improve further. Thanks for watching.
It seems to be a thing that these Brit RUclipsrs don't read comments beyond the first day. Esp when they are trying to get subscribers
Apologies for the delayed reply. I do try and read and respond to as many comments as possible , however my Father was rushed into hospital at the weekend so I've not had time to look at RUclips.
I wouldn't really consider myself to be a 'RUclipsr' I'm a Dad, Husband, fulltime and on-call Firefighter with Ham radio as a hobby and RUclips is a platform for sharing my hobby when I get time after family, home & work commitments.
Thanks for watching,
Ben
