I have family in Texas and close family friends in Idaho, and I can tell you if you want a place of security, and well being, and lifestyle IDAHO takes the cake hands down, the only draw back are winters are tough but in central Texas (Austin/San Antonio) its pretty terrible too! Oh and the Summers in IDAHO are the best, in Texas it's miserable!!!!!!
I'm a born and raised Texan.. 49 years in this State.. Bryan college station area.. my girlfriend and I visited her grandparents up in Moscow Idaho earlier this month.. I'm in complete..I mean complete awwwww! I've never seen such beautiful country! My lungs have never in my life experienced the air I was breathing up in the mountains! Never in my life have I seen snow on the ground in June! And never felt 45 degree weather in June either.. I would probably freeze to death come winter but we're really considering moving.. I fell in love with Idaho.. especially the outdoors.. I won't even start on how beautiful the lakes and rivers are! Since I've come back home I've never been so unimpressed with what I'm looking at around here.. Idaho has ruined me.. lol
Another born and raised Texan here--54 years. SOOOOO TIRED OF THE HEAT + HUMIDITY!!! We're looking at ID or WY for retirement in a few years. Also, our property taxes last year were over $7000 for a just-over 2000 sq ft house. (It's legalized theft, as they say!!) Even if that weren't true, however, the weather is enough to run me off. I grew up in the panhandle of Tx but have been in the DFW area for 30+ year. I really miss snow!! So ready to live somewhere with real snow, for goodness' sake!! Thanks for the content!!
Boise is basically Austin 15 years ago. Boise reminds me so much of Austin and how nice it used to be. I came from Austin to Boise. Now that I’ve experienced living in a place with 4 distinct seasons, I would miss it if I ever moved away from Boise. All 4 seasons in Boise have a lot beauty, my favorites being spring and fall. Texas is pretty much hot and scenery looks the same almost all year long. I live in SE Boise and I love the greenbelt hike and bike trail system all throughout. So relaxing. I love it here.
Been in boise my whole life end want to live to Austin! Obviously depends. We don’t have a lot of culture/diversity/attractions! I’m young though fresh out of school this is a great place as well wxpailly for people with family’s or retires
Would LOVE to see Portland vs Idaho! Wondering about a rumor I heard from someone that water rights in Eagle, Idaho, are being sold to foreign investors and turn-key offered to residents which makes the cost outrageously inflated for residents. Understandably, the residents are not happy. IS THIS TRUE?
Real estate cost is so high in the treasure Valley now, it's crazy. I'm looking to move to Texas just because of the prices. Better, bigger homes for the money... or stay here and get a junky CBH... 🤔. While I like the snow in Idaho, the inversions are really bad and you stay inside alot. Also, the past 5 summers, Idaho has had wildfire smoke for months on end. The only season I like in Idaho is spring, but other than that the seasons are not as good as everyone says. One other thing to note, the huge influx in people is making the drive to the mountains super long. Miss the old Idaho, but times are changing. Better than California for sure, but Dallas might have Boise beat with all the recent influx.
I'm a born and raised Texan.. 49 years..I visited your state earlier this month and I'm telling you right now I will trade you!! Do not move down here! It's hot! It's dirty! People aren't as friendly as everyone thinks.. big cities are congestion like no other.. the only thing I'd miss in this state is fishing the gulf coast..
My husband does commercial HVAC and refrigeration and needs to be by a big city in order to have consistent work. What would be better for that type of business, Dallas or Boise?
From California looking at Texas or Idaho. Idaho does match our outdoor lifestyle the one thing that is not mentioned is how Veteran friendly your state is. Idaho state doesn’t honor disabled Veterans as much as Texas. Disabled US Veterans at 100% pay zero property Tax. This alone has me torn.
This guy is a salesman. Texas has spring fed rivers in the hill country. Look up Pedernales falls, Jacob's well, Medina Lake, Canyon Lake, many small German towns. Best of all the VA is great in Texas. No property tax is awesome, no payment for vehicle registration, free airport parking with DV license plates. Etc. Just a lot of vet support. As far as landscape, this guy is wrong. Hill country is great, west Texas has 3 different mountain ranges, the beach is pretty nice for fishing, and east has swamps for fishing.
I’ll take a picture but there’s no snow :) email me at brian@brianhymas.com and I’ll show u what it looks like. Also look on the weather app and it will show u typical temperatures for Boise right now in January

@@BoiseRealEstate Sorry to hear about your knee, hope you heal safely and successfully. Be patient. How did you tear your knee? We are considering relocating to Boise and west to New Plymouth. We have friends in New Plymouth and Weisser, Meridian and Boise.. My husband has worked for Toyota for over 30 years. Which toyota dealership do you recommend? I'm trying to talk him in to moving before retirement. LIke maybe this month. I know Boise is in the top 5 US dealerships.

i don't think the water rights, but maybe the water company? i think it's "Suez"?

Maybe so. then you move to Dallas and you have traffic everyday, and not just on a friday after work heading to the mountains :)

Don't move to Bexar County (San Antonio), property taxes are ridiculous, they'll double on you in a couple of years!
Agreed! Move to Boise!
If you have daughters, u don’t want to move to Texas. Lots of good old boy culture here. Plus our abortion law is harsh.
Thanks for chiming in! Idaho it is!
