Reasons I watch Ollie: 1)Seems nice and down to earth 2)positivity he shows s uplifting 3)all his videos make me want to go out and ride my bike 4) unbiased testing of products 5) He shares my passion for cake.
Couldn’t disagree more. Not at all down to earth Completely self indulgent Falsely self deprecating No real information, what has speed and time up a hill got to do with ftp testing Supposed to entertain the viewer but spends all his time guffawing at his own jokes The website is no better, the articles are unreadable due to the myriad of never ending advertising pops. He is entitled to be smug though, earning a living with this drivel is enough to make anyone smug.
If there were long hills where I live I would chose them for ftp tests. My 1 minute best is on a hill, and I think that is because there is no holding back, the hill forces you to give your real best effort.
She said "That's Ollie". I said "Nah, he'd be wearing the Cycling Weekly kit". She said "yeah, that guys too skinny too". Then we got home last night and watched this HaHa
Great video Ollie (I was in Mallorca in the last week of March and stayed at the same hotel as you seemed to be at). One question I have, which touches on something you mentioned in the video - do you think that someone who is physiologically unremarkable, to use your words, could get to your level with decent training? My FTP is at about 250W at the moment, having been cycling for 2 years and trained seriously for about a year; I'm aiming for 300W but don't know if I'm going to be able to get there.
Mines only slightly lower than Ollies atm for same weight. Ha yeah pro's. Saw Alberto Contadors ftp awhile ago on some youtube cycling channel (can't remember where right now)with his zones written on the stem of his bike and it was 420W at 62 or 63kgs! Crazy numbers. Makes you feel quite pathetic in comparison!
May sound odd. But that's way to busy. Sometimes it's nice have that anti-social ride just you in your own head(not anti-social as in chavs in the local highstreet)
Ollie, come to Cyprus and get rid of the traffic, we climb all day without seeing anyone! PS disappointed you didn’t choose Gloria for the name, Gloria Stitts !
Another fantastic video, I’m off to Mallorca in September for my first cycling holiday, don’t think I’ll be aiming for a sub 30 on Sa Calobra though!!!
You better tell JACOB TIPPER to update his website because i was interested to check the coaching package he offers but his site is mostly "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet" text!!
Ooops sorry the website is still 'under construction' and shouldn't be live! If you want any info please drop me an email at info@jtperformancecoaching.com I'll happily answer any questions on there.
Sorry! It's not meant to be live! Can blame World Champion Charlie Tanfield for that website Faux Par! If you do have any questions you're welcome to contact me at info@jtperformancecoaching.com Thanks
My FT60 is just over 10% below my FT20. I find FTP a bit of a badge of honour. It doesn't have much application is the real world. There doesn't seem to be much standardisation of tests so it's hard to compare one FTP to another. Humidity and Temperature can also have an effect on results if done outside a lab.
Believe what you like but that's just not true. Deliberate practice/training will get you a long way - but it's not going to make you a world class athlete unless you have that certain genetic factor to go along with it.
To some extend yes, somebody who has the genetic potential to be the GOAT will get beaten by somebody who might have less potential but somebody who trains harder.
Yes, but that someone who might beat a potential GOAT athlete is also going to be an exceptional athlete. You need both genes and training to be world class. But you'll never be world class unless you have that genetic component, no matter how hard you train.
I'm also riding the Fred Whitton Challenge, and if you're putting a 32 on the back I think I need a 42 on the back !!!I'm fundraising for The North West Air Ambulance Service for a friend and fellow cyclist who lost his life cycling 3 years ago. Please see this link for more about the story >>> www.justgiving.com/fundraising/mark-jenkins20
Sorry if seems a bit harsh but accidentally found this channel whilst looking for informative road cycling channels. Everyone is entitled to enjoy what appeals to them, not intended to offend the channels fans so I’m getting out of here never to return 🙂
Two observations: 1. It's a functional power test, not a functional speed test. Your speed is ultimately irrelevant for an FTP test. 2. Stop perpetuating the myth that FTP is 'hour' power. It's not. Andy Coggan will be very upset with you.
Completely agree the worst video I’ve seen on ftp testing, the reality is all the cycling weekly videos are merely advertising plugs to prevent this team actually getting a job.

Laddie-147 don't watch then or read. Have a nice day🙂
The vlog quality / production gets better each time! Really enjoy them. Thanks for all the work you put into them :)
Jesus. Can't believe how rammed it is, looks absolutely mental. Busier than Alpe Du Zwift.
*watching this video from a FIAT 500* 😂
Terrific go on the FTP Test, and on video no less.
Glad to see you couldn't speak for a minute or so at the end.
If there were long hills where I live I would chose them for ftp tests. My 1 minute best is on a hill, and I think that is because there is no holding back, the hill forces you to give your real best effort.
Well done on your efforts mate.

Martyn Lovatt the camera adds 10lbs 😂
Were you driving the fiat?
Still very strong mate. Nice work

You can easily get to 300W man
The Fred's only 3 weeks away?! Heck, I need to do some training! /o\
Omfg I might be doing the Fred Whitton as well! HYPE!
Ollie on the Wallybike looks awesome - makes me want to ride - really enjoyed this video as always. Thanks Ollie!
Watching this made me wonder, is Sa Calobra the new Box Hill? With all the riders there, has it become too popular, too touristy?
Jon Burnell it was crazy busy Jon. A complete contrast with Mojácar the week before
Oliver Bridgewood I absolutely loved the look of Mojacar. Trying to get my wife to agree to a weekend away 😂
Was there exactly a week ago. Got to the bottom by 9am, turned straight around and didn’t see another soul. That would be my top tip.
T Wat or ride it at 6pm!
Oliver Bridgewood Usually all caked out by then I’m afraid!

I like Gwyneth/ Seven reference. "What's in the BAAaaax?!"

Great effort on Sa Calobra Ollie! Would love to have a go at it one day! 🤓

Mark Smith let us know how you get on👍🏼 should be great
I was happy with an hour thirty
GERRRINNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
Why would you be transferring files whilst cycling up a big hill?

Same ftp as me. Shame I’m 10kgs heavier
6:43 - 6:49 LOL
In the season you can't ride after 11.30-12.00 too busy!
someone could be your leader out man for COMPETITION PRIZE!!
Just looked at his coaching website, but it doesn’t say anything about what he does!
Sorry! It's not meant to be live! Can blame World Champion Charlie Tanfield for that website Faux Par! If you do have any questions you're welcome to contact me at info@jtperformancecoaching.com Thanks
Correct answer on the 🍰
Oh my gosh, this road is so busy, that's no fun, I wouldn't like to ride it.
Clean your lens, lad!
Peter Hall 🤦♂️ on it!
Oliver Bridgewood great vid as always, tho! And good luck with the Fred....not a ride for the faint hearted 💪🏻
5:14 Spot the English bloke on the wrong side of the road.
It'll be a tribute to his dedication (& oxygen deprivation) when he ends up as an English hood ornament on a Fiat 500
4 adverts in 13 mins? Love the video but RUclips is a joke
Why not do an proper 60 min FTP test, some can do a good 20-30 min effort but not 60 min.
That is excactly the reason, why no one does a 60min test. It is barely achievable. The FTP is a theoretic number.
The race is not to the swift nor the battle to the strong ... time and chance happen to all
Are you even a cyclist if you dont make excuses 😂😂
Oliver, what makes you say you couldn’t be a pro due to your physiology? I believe practice beats talent every day.
Believe what you like but that's just not true. Deliberate practice/training will get you a long way - but it's not going to make you a world class athlete unless you have that certain genetic factor to go along with it.

You do realise that was all nonsense, the man has an ego the size of a small country.
Ollie if you take what pro cyclists(the whole peloton) take (PED) you could easily get that 370-400 watts
I'm also riding the Fred Whitton Challenge, and if you're putting a 32 on the back I think I need a 42 on the back !!!I'm fundraising for The North West Air Ambulance Service for a friend and fellow cyclist who lost his life cycling 3 years ago. It looks so horribly busy. Not for me I think.
Too busy for my liking living in the middle of nowhere you don't see much foke that would give me a panic attack.
Disc brakes and long socks!! WTF is happening to cycling, we need to get the fashion police on the case.
