- Franz Peter Schubert (31 January 1797 - 19 November 1828) was an Austrian composer.
Schubert died before his 32nd birthday, but was extremely prolific during his lifetime. His output consists of over 600 secular vocal works (mainly Lieder), seven complete symphonies, sacred music, operas, incidental music and a large body of chamber and piano music.

That first movement was excellent, almost literally burnt the hair from my head. Had it succeeded, however, I guess they would have grown back by the time the second movement ended.
I felt reminded a bit of Beethoven, but mostly the piece had something opera-esque about it. The first movement, in particular, I could imagine as a kind of overture.
My favourite! Thank you for putting together and posting!

Thank you for including the score.
Muy interesante poder leer la partitura y escuchar. Gracias por compartir.
Interesting detail: the work of the flutes in the first movement.
Wonderful! Which editing software do you use?
What? There is a London Classical Players recording of this? How did I miss this? I thought I had all their Schubert recordings. Would you care to point out to me where I can get this recording? The amount of reverb in the recording leads me to believe that this is rather The Hanover Band and not Norrington.
This is my favourite early Schubert Symphony. How the Exposition of the first movement refuses to end is just marvellous.
You are right. It is the Hanover Band.
The violin section is soooo difficult.
