At the end of this video, Maseo had me choked-up, tears flowing from my eyes. This crew has no idea what they mean to me. They truly are one of a kind and once in a generation. Rest in peace Plug ✌ Keep it pushin fellas.
Arguably my favorite group of all time for their history of being so themselves. DeLa never fronted and made REAL music that often went against the grain. However, they were trendsetters and so so dope. Dave is one of the few hip hop celebs I had the pleasure to meet in person. He was so humble and down to earth. God Bless that brother. Maceo’s emotions got me choked up over here too. I’d love to see a Spitkicker Tour again!🖤🎤
@@rodneywashington5606they will lol, everybody was looking for 3 is the magic number after the spiderman movie so now the whole catalog is available lol

De La Soul introduced me to 'Hip-Hop'; perfectly said in the podcast that they introduced the world to 'hip-hop' rather than 'rap'. Always loved their catalog and beats, grateful to have subscribed to their online newsletter and copped their whole catalog digitally. Love how they got back their art. RIP Dave. 💐
A few months before Dave's passing I learned he was a big fan of my art, sent his girlfriend one of my figures and was working on another to send to him directly after briefly talking to him, he passed a couple weeks after we spoke. The loss hit a lot harder when you have a personal connection. Rest In Power Dave 🕊 Long live De La Soul, and much respect to Maseo and POS 🙏

My favorite Del La album is Bahloon Mind State. So uniquely creative combination of jazz and hip-hop. Will never be anything like it again. Thank you, As-salaamu'alaykum,
I love De La Soul. I've loved De La Soul for 33 years. I actually managed to get a ticket to the NY state of mind tour, and as amazing as Wu-Tang and Nas have been and will be, it is worth the ticket price alone to be able to be in the same space as these two men and listen to them. It's made my year that I'll get the chance to do that. Roll on next month and thank you Dave 💜
I grew up with these guys, even thousands of miles away i always felt connected to them and still do. Thanks so much, Talib, for putting them on. Watching this is so dope.
27:40 Loop this. I remember seeing the Spitkicker tour in Chicago. Such an Ill show. Talib, Common, De la, Pharaoh, and even Kayne was there. Bring it Back!
Soaking up dem rays for the winter, I see. Dr. Senior Love Daddy salute to both of You. Learning how to grieve in public with all of You. -A guy from North NJ, who dug both comic strips, liner notes & artwork on your first two albums
dang. kweli's interview skills are up there with the best of them. never would have understood the responsibility thrust upon maseo's shoulders with dave passing, but this interview laid it all bare.
I love these guys, I grew up to their music and this interview was such a great way to honor their legacy, Talib really is an amazing interviewer and you can see the bond between him, Maseo and Pos, thank you for making this interview happen! RIP Dave, de la for ever
These guys are so dope, and not afraid to get a personal level 🔥🎶!!! Dave passing years after Phife are like losing friends that I never met personally, but I could feel the realness of the love and friendships they have for one another 🙏❤️!!!
Listening to this, i love hearing the legends and veterans of hiphop on a hiphop platform. Also hearing guru, dave, mark 45 king, phife, chris lighty, we losing alot of hiphop pioneers. R.i.p. to all of them.

Maceo’s Lyor comments seem like a shot at Dame Dash. Seems like Lyor wasn’t a culture vulture until the Rocafella break up happened. The other seven years Dame worked with Lyor it wasn’t a problem
I met Maseo in Atlanta. I was annoyed because when I took a step back in a line and I bumped into someone who I thought was too close in my personal space. I turned around and there he was apologizing with a laugh. I pointed at him, said his name and we took a selfie at his insistence (I normally don't do selfies). A lot of people in that venue didn't know him by face but they could tell he was someone important when they heard his voice (and laughter). I've been a De La Soul fan since college and I miss Dave.

Since we’ve lost Phife & Dave, I suggest they put out a De La Quest or A Tribe Called Soul project. That would be 🔥! And add Busta as well!
That would be nice.
I saw De La in London along with ATCQ and they killed it. Definitive hip hop legends
