The images we visualize serve as blueprints for events that manifest in our lives. Shakti Gawain, dynamic author of the best-selling Creative Visualization, adds that we can consciously influence this process by visualizing the positive situations we desire, and she provides instructions for a basic visualization technique that takes only a few minutes and can be used several times a day.
I never knew her as Shakti. We met in Newport Beach, Souithern Californian when she was 22 and I was 24 and she was Carol Lousia Gwain, she went by Louisa. We fell in love and we lived together for a couple of years. This was in 1970. She lived with me during her college years. She graduated from UC Irvine with a degree in Fine Arts. She litteraly got me out of going to Vietnam. I got drafted when we were together and she insisted that we go see a lawyer that specilized in getting men out of the draft. I would never had thought to do that if it was not for her. Anyway it worked and we were together for another year after that. Later after we broke up she got into the metaphysical world she was famous for. In her book about her life I am on a couple of pages known as Lawrence. We stayed in touch and visited each other a few times for many years after. She always had a good logical mind and she was a very kind person. I held her in high esteem then and thereafter always.
Wonderful of you to comment. I appreciate it because my core beliefs in life are based on her writings, all concise, no woo woos, no fuzz. To think she is a real and kind lady makes me believe more. Thank you.

Nothing new under the sun.
People like Neville Goddard, Dr. Joseph Murphy, Bob Monroe (HemiSync Gateway Tapes), Jose Silva, Law of One/Seth material etc. remain unknown while Abraham Hicks, Bob Proctor, Rhonda Byrne, and tons more got famous and $$$ by removing the religious aspect of these spiritual teachings taught by the greatest metaphysicians to walk the earth.
Even her name is a cultural appropriation of Hindu culture.
Tons of these people living in California in mansions by the ocean.
And they are mostly virtue signalers, they refuse to integrate with black, brown, Asian folks.
I have experienced this myself as an immigrant and person of color.
Not a single one of the 1970s and 1980s people acknowledges that their ideas were all taken from the New Thought and Christian/Divine/Mental Science writers.
Which in turn have their roots in Eastern traditions.
Interesting how all of them teach about gratefulness yet never mention a single word as to their inspiration or their teachers.

I've met her and she's really genuinely beautiful--cameras don't do her justice. (I don't think she's particularly photogenic) because in person she's a knockout. I love her voice, too.
Living in The Light was the very first spiritual book I ever read. It was the beginning of my spiritual journey and self awareness. That was almost 30 years ago.

do both, work hard on the physical plane, make plans, take action steps. When you have time, visualise and affirm. Do both, not just one. One might make you lazy, while the other might drag you down over time. Both is the way to go. Though I put emphasis on the action part. Also, I would only pick goals you're okay not having. Otherwise, all that energy you're summoning will blow up in your face if things don't play out the way you want them. Final note, avoid using this with relationships. Better use it for things you're doing for yourself.
Amine Laifi Intention leads to action. Intention is stronger than thought. It is a knowing. Example: Needing food is an intention. You take action immediately and buy or cook food. Working at a job is an intention of survival. And so forth. Intentions always lead to immediate action.

I just wanted to say Andy that when you picked up her book you probably weren't ready for the teacher. I remember picking up a book of Shankti way back in the 90s and started reading her stuff and that's when I began changing and it has been a journey ever since. So much so that I plan on being a life coach as well. They say when the student is ready the teacher will appear.

I am still lost...
I am trying to practice the creative visualizations and want to find out that after how many days of visualization I need to make a plan to accomplish my goals. I know you all talk about thinking in your head but after that what happens? how to take steps to achieve your goals?
For example, If I want to lose 50 Ibs, what should I do? just visualize or make a plan and join the gym? I will appreciate your responses.
So in other way, what is the difference between visualization and fantasizing?
+Jack Straw As you visualize, you will receive the inspiration to work out and make different diet changes, if they are necessary. The difference between fantasy and visualization is the way you feel while doing them
Just keep visualizing until you are ready to begin the practical action, like going to the gym, etc.. You will get there if you keep visualizing. I read her book in 2005 and life has never been the same. we really co-create reality!

I picked up this old yellowed paperback from somewhere I can't remember. CREATIVE VISUALIZATION. But then it gathered dust for sometime. Finally, I read a few chapters and put it down for nothing seemed to inspire me. Yes, yes... visualize it, and it will come..fine. Recently I picked it up again and just the words I needed to read! Right away I realized that what I am experiencing "my journey" is not of my creation at all! It is NOT new, not mine, and I am not alone. Amazing how this happens!
