Alastor was eating a raw deer because before he died he was a serial killer and cannibal and he died because he was burying one of his victims and a hunter shot him because they mistook him for a deer. Also he died in the early 1930’s
This is correct, except Vivzie said has said he was not a cannibal in life. In death, however, he frequently visits Cannibal Town and enjoys visiting the cafés.
I feel like a big thing you learn in this show, is that while these are all people in hell and have all done bad things, not all of them are bad ‘people.’ Like Carmilla is a weapons trader, she manages crimes, very bad, but she’s also a mother and cares for those she works with and those under her. You learn this as well heavy in episode 7 I would say from a certain town. While most are also just shitty people, some are decent people who do a bad thing
Like how Angel was in the Mafia when he was alive and did a lot of bad things, but he genuinely cares and is very protective of his friends (like how in episode 4 he only really speaks up to Valentino when Val threatens to hurt Charlie and angel says “I’ll do anything just please don’t hurt her”
It also solidifies that people arent sent to heaven or hell because they’re “good” or “bad” but if they “acted” good or bad. If a psychopath who wishes death on everyone and hates the very concept of compassion, as long as they dont act on it in life, they still go to heaven which is such a dumb way of judging people. Sending people who are good who did finite crimes in life to eternal hell seems like a systematically broken system.
@@seraphywang4638 to be fair christianity addresses that but that's also the canonicity that added the eternal suffering part to hell and doesn't believe in subjectivity in sin

Just to clarify Velvette is also an overlord, Vox, Val and Velvette are all overlords that chose to work together and create the Vees. We dont know about all of them but Alastor, Rosie (the woman with the creepy smile sitting next to Al) and Zestiel are all from older eras, Zestial speaking in old english and Al and Rosie being from the 20s. While the vees are all more modern, Vox is TV from the 50s, Val is porno from the 70’s and Velvette is social media from the last few decades, so the other overlords see them as more juvenile and inexperienced, while the Vees see the others as old and rusty.
I feel like Niffty doesn't have a demon form, because she's terrifying enough already. It would be something to see though. Also, I too was fully expecting Carmilla to be another villain, but no, She's just controlling her turf like the other overlords and trying to protect her daughters. And she feels genuine guilt for causing the angels to move up the extermination. I love her character. And "Respectless" is such an amazing song. And Velvette absolutely slays. The way she goads Carmilla into calling her out, and then basically backs her into a corner, and makes ot pretty clear Carmilla knows something about the slain angel. Velvette is so underrated compared to the other vees.
Out of the 3 V's I actually believe Velvet when she says she's the backbone. Making connections and spreading influence is insanely powerful and often underestimated
The three Vs are content production, medium and distribution. Vox is the physical stuff, the technology, so he is the leader on the surface. Velvette is the one advertising the product. You’d think the medium and production are the more important aspects, but according to this show, and I agree, it’s the various ways of distributing that makes or breaks the sale.
Thing is, if you asked each of The V's independently which of them was the most vital to the group, they would each say, "I am!" They're all so egotistical that they probably think that they're each the star attraction.
@@alastorcorvusComposed? She literally burst into song over people not immediately working with her for - what they think is, and probably _is_ - a suicide attack. That’s the opposite of composed, lmao.
Oh, I think you misunderstood Zestiel. When he was saying "There hath been rumor of you _falling to Holy arms"_ he meant that, because Alastor just up and vanished for 7 Years, people had speculated that the angel army had killed him, as Holy Weapons (Holy Arms) can kill any mortal soul for good, even someone as powerful as Alastor.
Given the prevailing fan theory about Alastor's bargain possibly being with Lilith, 'fallen to Holy arms' could well be a double meaning. If there's one thing I've learned, it's that Vivzie never puts just one meaning into things if she can fit more. There's so much of significance that can be read into everything, and it's always hard to tell what's a clue and what's a red herring. Time will tell...
Weeby: I like Carmilla. I think that's the first time I've actually heard anyone say that. A lot of people just complain about Carmilla being the one that killed the angel because 'we barely know her' and want the angel to have been killed by one of the Hotel characters. If I'm being honest, I prefer that Carmilla is the one that did it. Gives us a reason to care about characters outside of the Hotel that aren't antagonists like the Vees.
Carmilla doesn't get much screentime but honestly I love how blunt and considering she is. I'd love to see more of her relationship with her daughters but she and Zestial establish a very interesting closeness for two Overlords :D
That's surprising to hear, but at the same time not too surprising considering the toxic side of the Hazbin fandom. Obviously the story can't always be about the main Hazbin cast there has to be other characters that play a role in the story. I like Carmella. I like her design, character, and would like to know more about her, as well as many of the other side characters.
Damn, that's wild, I've really liked her since I watched the ep, her overall design (reminds me of vampires/bats?), alongside the snippets of her singing voice were real nice and got me hooked! 🤍🩶🖤
So, just to explain something that was mostly explained in interviews: there are two types of hell inhabitants. Sinners and hell-born demons. All the Overlords we see are sinners, so they are humans that died. They are stronger than all other sinners and most of the normal demons. But above them in regard to power are Luzifer and his family, the embodiments of the deadly sins and royal demons.
In case anyone reading is wondering, here's the full hierarchy of hell, from most powerful to least (at least in rank, if not actual power): 1. Lucifer & Lilith. Note that Lilith is technically a Sinner demon (see rank #6 below), but as Lucifer's other half and one of the founders of hell with him, she's much more powerful, and is the queen. 2. Charlie 3. The Sins, embodiments of the Seven Deadly Sins, each of which rules over a ring of Hell. Lucifer doubles as the Sin of Pride. In Helluva Boss, we've seen Beelzebub (Gluttony), Asmodeus (Lust), and Mammon (Greed). We also know that Satan (distinct from Lucifer) rules over Wrath, Leviathan rules over Envy, and Belphegor rules over Sloth. Of those, we've heard mention of Belphegor (who, in Helluva Boss, is female, and we don't know much else), and Satan's name is often used in place of "God" in common phrases (like "Oh, Satan" instead of "Oh, God"). We've heard nothing about Leviathan. They all have phone apps, though, related to their sin. 4. The Goetia, demon nobility that are less powerful than the Sins, but whose jurisdiction seems to cover all of hell instead of just specific parts. In Helluva Boss, we know of Stolas, Stella, Octavia, Paimon, and Andrealphus, though there's surely more. 5. The Overlords, who are Sinners (see rank #6 below). They are specifically Sinners that have control over many souls -- either by contract or force -- and as a result have amassed a ton of power. Technically, they don't have specific jurisdiction, as they have power over the souls they own and those who fear them. But they do tend to control localized regions within the Pride ring. (It's been said Sinners can only inhabit Pride, though so much info that has been said by the creators off-screen has been retconned, so I'm not sure that's still true.) 6. The normal Sinners. Sinners are the only demons who used to be human; the rest were born in hell. Sinners can only be killed by angelic weapons; if they're killed in any other way, they just regenerate, and if they're totally destroyed, they re-manifest in hell the same way as when they first died. But the process of regeneration and re-manifesting is extremely painful. 7. The normal hellborn demons. These are just the normal citizens of hell who were born there. In Helluva Boss, we see many different types, ranging from succubi to shark-like demons to fish people to to jester-looking things. 8. Imps. Imps are considered extremely low class demons. 9. Hellhounds. These anthropomorphic dog-like demons are the lowest class, and often have servant roles to imps, like secretaries or body guards. Sometimes they're considered equals to imps, but there's definitely that division in perception. That said, Beelzebub has a sort of hellhound/insect hybrid appearance herself, despite being a Sin. It's also important to point out that while classism is definitely a thing in the universe, the classes do occasionally mix. Two of the main characters in Helluva Boss are a Goetia and an imp who are in a relationship (despite public mockery); another two who are a couple are a Sin and an imp (who hide their relationship for fear of judgment, despite the immense power of a Sin); one imp character adopted a hellhound character and considers her his daughter rather than just a worker; etc.

Kinda getting "dad that stepped up" vibes from Zestial- I think he and Carmilla might have some kind of relationship, whether it's platonic or romantic, and he sort of just became a part of her family. She probably trusts him to keep her girls safe, seeing that he survived Alastor's overlord-purge.
Alastor is in fact an overlord. An overlord is a sinner (usually) that owns a great amount of souls. Alastor is among the most powerful, with the other overlords in that meeting.
I don't think Velvette wants to fight against the angels, I think she just wants the other Overlords to do it so they all die, lmao, it looks like she really hates them and I guess it would be good for the Vees if they are the only Overlords in the city.
9:58 from general knowledge of Hell, there are 7 rings, more or less arranged like a big tower. each one is its own city. the hotel resides on the first ring, Pride. which is where Lucifer reigns, and i believe sinners reside. each of the other rings are ruled by one of the other Sins. and seems some residents are capable of traversing between each ring, as evidenced in the side series Helluva Boss
The rings are more like countries/states than cities, they have multiple cities within them. Both Pentagram City (Hazbin Hotel) and Imp City (Helluva Boss) are on the Pride ring for example.
Just in case your wondering In terms if how powerful beings are is 1.Lucifer 2.Lilith & Charlie 3.The 7 deadly sins( lust , greed etc) 4.Ars goetia (stolas's family) 5.0verlords (radio demon, zestial , the vs etc) 6. Sinners ( angel dust, Husk etc) 7.The hellborns succubus etc ) 8.Imps and hellhounds (blitz, moxy, Luna etc ) If your wondering about the characters I mention like stolss, blitz , moxy and Luna as well as the other 7 deadly sins (- Lucifer) they are from helluva boss hazbin hotels sister show. It us being produced on RUclips still have so far has 2 seasons ! It is a really good show and is based in the same universe as having hotel. I think you would really like this show , it does have songs in it at least 1 in every episode and the characters are so fun
Vaggie seems to talk like a drill sergeant when she's put in charge, I know we find out she used to be an exorcist but if her original death date of 2014 is still canon I believe she might have been a soldier when she was alive and killed in action, then when she got to heaven she signed up to be an exorcist since she was comfortable with military service.
Well, her main product is regular weaponry. Angelic weapons wouldn't be something the average denizen of Hell could afford, and probably something shey didn't advertise. You probably had to be in the know before you could even try to purchase one.
Btw trauma bonding doesn't mean friendly bonding over trauma, its actually a method of abuse where the victim becomes bonded with the abuser. I only learned the real definition recently myself

13:39 Zestial has been an overlord for centuries and has survived the extermination for centuries. You don't survive that long without practising some caution. I don't know where this quote came from but I've heard it in reference to One Piece: "Never underestimate old men in a profession where most die young."
"Why are you avoiding war? That's what the guns you sell are for." Is actually a really powerful line to me. Because even in our real world it's not the children of the rich and powerful weapons manufacturers who die in war, it's those who signed up for the military because they'd been fed patriotism, or because they felt they had no other future. And it's not until Carmilla's daughters are threatened that she hesitates to use the weapons that she'll eagerly profit off of selling to kill other people.
The duet with Carmilla and Velvet really shows the difference between generations. The older is more patient and acts when their hands are favorable whereas the younger is rash and acts on impulse. I love the Eggbois 😂😂😂 they say the most outlandish crap ever and its amazing
It’s my headcanon, and I stress headcanon, that Niffty is a yandere. It’s why she’s so cute and also carries around a knife. God forbid she develop a crush on a “bad boy.” I bet that’s why she’s in Hell: she freaked out on a boy she had a crush on and went on a murder spree. Her clothing, though, looks like a ladybug. But the fun thing about Niffty is that she’s a mystery. I’d probably be disappointed if I knew.
I’d just like to say a big thank you to all of vivziepops ‘biggest fans’, for saving her the time and effort of ever needing to animate a single characters backstory in future episodes since you’ve now -spoiled- explained them all already. Thanks!
Everything she's said before the story got picked up by a24, including the pilot, is subject to change. Before episode 6 everyone kept talking about how vaggie was the youngest sinner in the hotel according to info viv gave, and we now know that's not true at all and we're back to knowing little to nothing about her backstory. I do think is annoying they're talking about it like its still canon, but everything you read can completely change next season
The reason why the others in the meeting weren't scared of Zestial is because they are a council of overlords, so they respect each other (with the exclusion of Velvette since she's the youngest).
Interestingly, I believe Velvette only went to the meeting because she and the V's only wanted to provoke a war between heaven and hell so they themselves can stay out of sight until every one else who could have had power over them died in the battle.

@@KBRollertrue but they said that gaining territory and/or souls actually gives you powers and has you recognized as an overlord, and that’s seemed to pan out so far. Seems safe to assume that’s still canon.

@@kagato23Yes, but we haven't seen Cherri or Pentious control any real amount of territory or souls in the series, though. In act, Pentious is played off as being completely inept in a way that everyone knows he could never achieve any power.
Alastor is an overlord himself, and while strong he's not one of the top three, though that of course can potentially change.
Who are the top Three?

Alastor was eating a raw deer because before he died he was a serial killer and cannibal and he died because he was burying one of his victims and a hunter shot him because they mistook him for a deer. Also he died in the early 1930’s
This is correct, except Vivzie said has said he was not a cannibal in life. In death, however, he frequently visits Cannibal Town and enjoys visiting the cafés.

It's also a reference to an old drawing of Alastor where he was in a swamp eating a deer, almost exactly as depicted in the show
@@SabbathtageI imagine Rosie and him have little dates/p as we’ve seen they seem like good friends.
@@seraphywang4638It definitely feels like that's the point: that the system in place rn is broken and needs to be refurbished. It was kind of hinted at in Helluva Boss with the Cherubs ans how one mistake cost them their place in Heaven.

Yeah, Carmilla is awesome.
That would be terrifying.
There is a theory that nifty was a former overlord xD
I would really like to see a Nifty Episode at some point.
Velvette is so f*cking underrated, I LOVE HER. Thats y shes my wife
Out of the 3 V's I actually believe Velvet when she says she's the backbone. Making connections and spreading influence is insanely powerful and often underestimated
and she's way more cunning, clever and composed than Vox and Valentino, who constantly lose their shit over personal beefs and are way more impulsive.
The three Vs are content production, medium and distribution. Vox is the physical stuff, the technology, so he is the leader on the surface. Velvette is the one advertising the product. You’d think the medium and production are the more important aspects, but according to this show, and I agree, it’s the various ways of distributing that makes or breaks the sale.
i mean... val deffo isnt. look at him. hes such a pushover fr 😭🙏
"Everyone is being too nice. Obviously it must be a LIE" My anxiety feels both SEEN and CALLED OUT.
Alastor is an overlord by technicality due to how strong he is, but he doesn’t care if he’s an overlord or not.
All the other seem to make careers out of their overlord powers while alaster is litteraly only doing it for entertainment
He does seem care about his reputation though
And he cares what other Overlords think about him
He cares a lot. Considering he might've made a deal specifically to have enough power to become one.
The fact that Nifty managed to say something so twisted it scared *Charlie* off from catching her will never not make me laugh 😂
Amen
I adore Carmilla. Love her design, her voice, her character... she's amazing!
In case anyone reading is wondering, here's the full hierarchy of hell, from most powerful to least (at least in rank, if not actual power):
1. Lucifer & Lilith. Note that Lilith is technically a Sinner demon (see rank #6 below), but as Lucifer's other half and one of the founders of hell with him, she's much more powerful, and is the queen.
2. Charlie
(It's been said Sinners can only inhabit Pride, though so much info that has been said by the creators off-screen has been retconned, so I'm not sure that's still true.)
I swear it was stated that Rosie is hellborn
@@crypt5129I believe that was said by Faustisse however she often gave out info that wasn't actually canon but was misinterpreted as such and she's no longer part of the team.

@@ShoesOnTheFreewayNot really.

Hellborn creatures can traverse in all levels of hells, sinners can't. That's what I believe..
There's more then one city in each ring
The rings are more like countries/states than cities, they have multiple cities within them.
Both Pentagram City (Hazbin Hotel) and Imp City (Helluva Boss) are on the Pride ring for example.

Another thing about Carmilla, she's technically the reason the extermination is sooner. I think she might realize that and have that guilt, as well.
The voice for zestial is genie in broadway Aladdin
It's always funny to me that everyone cites that as where he's from since I knew him as Lance from the Tangled animated series. I imagine his role as Genie on Broadway is probably much more known of course, I'm just the guy who always seems to recognize voices from more obscure sources for some reason.
Hm, honestly, i think Velvette might the one I am most interested in out of the VVVs, i hope to see more focus on her at some point, in Season 2 at least.
Anyway, i will look forward to your reaction to Episode 4, hehehe.
And it's not until Carmilla's daughters are threatened that she hesitates to use the weapons that she'll eagerly profit off of selling to kill other people.
why is Pentious just Doofenschmirtz?

It’s my headcanon, and I stress headcanon, that Niffty is a yandere. It’s why she’s so cute and also carries around a knife. God forbid she develop a crush on a “bad boy.” I bet that’s why she’s in Hell: she freaked out on a boy she had a crush on and went on a murder spree. Her clothing, though, looks like a ladybug. But the fun thing about Niffty is that she’s a mystery. I’d probably be disappointed if I knew.
I luv that honestly
I’d just like to say a big thank you to all of vivziepops ‘biggest fans’, for saving her the time and effort of ever needing to animate a single characters backstory in future episodes since you’ve now -spoiled- explained them all already. Thanks!
most of them were written in comics if I recall and there is always the potential they will change
most of their backstories were already out there before the show got picked up
Everything she's said before the story got picked up by a24, including the pilot, is subject to change.
Alastor is an overlord he just went into hiding, but when he was in the prime, he ran the radio tower. He did stuff solo.
The reason why the others in the meeting weren't scared of Zestial is because they are a council of overlords, so they respect each other (with the exclusion of Velvette since she's the youngest).
I always get so excited when you post a reaction!! I love Respectless. I play it on a loop. And I love the depth of Carmilla. She's amazing.
