    I use to watch this show every week and looked forward to it. I got sick of this canned, phony drama and lost most of my interest. Id rather watch as dozer push dirt around for an hour than watch a fake, manufactured conflict.

    I think Parker and Tony are a lot closer then the show wants us to believe. These guys are real Gold Miners driven to success by incredible dedication and hard work. Tony I believe respects very few of the shows other participants but Parker he feels has put in his "dues" to achieve his success.

    This is the first time I've seen anything from Discovery in many many years. Nothing has changed. Still the same contrived drama. I'll check in again in another 10 years but I don't hold out much hope for any actual interesting programing.

    Why would Parker treat Tony this way. It doesn't make sense to me. All he had to do was to ask Tony and explain why he wants to dump soil on Tony's land, he knows that he is going to back fill after extracting the Gold. Why would anyone treat a naibour this way. Parker is a FC to do this!

    Not one single gold miner on any show has ever been able to keep his/her schedule and there is always a disaster that will most likely, irrecoverably ruin their entire season. He/she will lose everything if it doesn't work out!...Every miner...Every time!

      they follow strict laws tehy might leave a divit in the ground but will have to plant trees and do some dirt moving to make the ground an ecosystem in a few years.

      They are held to the same standard.
      They do luck out, as they never dig all that deep, and the forest is ready to make everything normal, rather soon.
      They don't use explosives, poisons. Nothing stops Mother Nature from soon taking over.
      Their big issue is keeping the streams clear for spawning fish and reshaping the topsoil to imitate all surrounding terrain.

      Mining coal in New Zealand had a guy cleaning the overburden off the coal seam, 40 tonne, it threw a track so he just walked it along then down to the haul.rd ,I was waiting in a haul truck, he.just lifted the bung side up and slewed it round as the gd side tracked forward, pretty quickly too ,I was most impressed

      Actually, as any tanker could tell you, brutal terrain + an insane rush => thrown tracks OR a need to adjust them at the start of every day. Which is something that a placer miner will simply never do. This is a crowd of plungers -- and youngsters, too.

      No. It was his DAD'S money and big connections in construction -- especially getting terrific deals with Volvo and Cat.
      Those were NOT deals // financings that Parker could've EVER pulled off on his own.
      It has been his DAD'S knowledge of how to schedule work, the details involved in scheduling stripping operations, in particular, that count.

      Parker is going to be providing Tony's sluices LICENSED water. An active water license has been a nightmare for Tony.
      The water rights are worth MANY times over the insult to Tony's pride. That's why his wife chilled his jets.

    Fake drama stirred up by the show's producers. If they didn't come up with these "dramatic moments", they think people won't watch. They don't get that people want to enjoy personalities along with learning about this type of mining. I just came across this and won't be watching it. I gave up on these type of shows years ago.       The land will be fine. Nothing they are doing is more than pushing dirt around. They don't use explosives nor poisons. When the season's over, they will bring the soil back into shape. It's usually the case that the wildlife is in MUCH better shape than before. Varmits LOVE fallen trees to hide and breed amongst. Owls, hawks simply HAVE TO HAVE open ground to feed themselves. A mature forest looks pretty -- and is pretty sterile.

    They load rock trucks backwards. Especially when loading from the side. Load from tail to front. Can always fit in an extra bucket or two that way.

      They shouldn't even be using articulated rock trucks -- any brand. BUT, Volvo is kicking them a HUGE rebate -- so those trucks are practically free to the placer miners. Tony & Parker would be better off with a K-Tec scraper -- or its competitors. ( Such scrapers cut your manning in HALF. They load themselves. Further, they perfectly mate with peeling off SLUSH early in the Spring. You want permafrost removed as SLUSH every time. You don't want to deal with it totally frozen like a rock nor runny as mud.
      Yet, what do you see, show after show? Permafrost or mud. Cute, no?

      Tree growth is so intense up there that there is actually no need to plant them. All that is required is land restoration. Before you know it, you'll have new growth just all over.
      That green forest you see in the background -- was at one time cut all the way to the ground.

      @Wayne Flanigan once stripped, it's never the same and the reclamation in most cases is half-assed. When the company goes broke, which they all do eventually, the state or feds have to take care of it on taxpayer dime.
