In this episode, we dive into the shared experiences, frameworks, and struggles that many of us face in our pursuit of growth and understanding within relationships. Our conversation with Dr. Jordan B. Peterson spans a wide range, touching on personality dynamics, the importance of truth, and the value of embracing both the beauty and the beast within ourselves.
Discover how a unique personality test, designed by a former Harvard graduate student and his advisor, can shed light on the intricacies of your relationship. We explore the dimensions of personality, such as agreeableness, politeness, and compassion, and how understanding these aspects can lead to better communication and connection.
Jordan Peterson's personal insights and experiences, touching on the challenges of balancing truth with politeness and the transformative power of embracing radical honesty in a relationship. As we navigate the terrain of personal growth, we explore the concept of civilized monsters-individuals who embody authenticity and truth while maintaining a refined and sophisticated approach.
Tune in to learn more about the journey towards a playful, peaceful, and harmonious relationship. Join us as we uncover the power of truth, vulnerability, and the pursuit of a shared vision for a fulfilling and enriching partnership.

very relaxed, conversational, educational, and humorous throughout. not a boring moment, and Jordan wasn't prompted to each subject, he got to roam around and talk about anything, and he's great at tying real life experience to deep issues and causes. . he's gotten LOTS better at humor than the "old" peterson who was more "outraged" in his speech. this is FAR better , and far more fun than anger and outrage and disgust............... and gets the SAME points accross as well, not bad JP, not bad at all.

Attention, that's the universal currency, and the reason we're desperate for attention is because there's no difference between attention and love, and a child will do anything for attention." That part hit me hard too. Especially when he said “they’ll cut off their breasts”

    • @nildaluzrodriguez
      @nildaluzrodriguez 4 месяца назад

@@jasongravely7217 Kids(grown or adult) have been aiming for negative attention with rebellion, self-destructive behaviors like drugs, alcohol, vandalism, cheating, fornicating, cutting, running away, etc. "Cutting off the breast", unless there's a science-based evidence tied to this being a form of needing attention, I could only half agree it has to do with not getting love and attention.
Why did college "girls"(women) show off their breasts and bodies in Cancun during spring break for the world to view "Girls Gone Wild" entertainment from the 90s? That entertainment was created by a man named Joe Francis by the way. Didn't these women come from affluent homes with "normal" parents who nourished their development with love and attention? By the way, the late-night infomercials on television left nothing to the imagination. I was 9 or 10 years old when I first saw one and the caption mentioned "college girls". These women raised their bikini tops while guys splattered alcoholic beverages on them and they were dancing provocatively and groping other peers. Low-level grooming maybe?
I did, at some point crave the same attention like those women in my youth as a young girl and adult woman, and I wasn't praised for it, and I was in a lot of danger especially at 10 years old. As a woman, I was called a whore. Those entertaining women were called HOT, SEXY, SpICY, and even beautiful. Didn't those women get their parent's attention? Where are they now? What would they say about the impact they made on the next generation of young girls and women?
We must stay abreast to this....

I knew Sean Whalen from my childhood. We grew up literally on the same block. We did not like each other much. In fact, I did not like him at all, but I congratulate his success none the less. Considering it was 32 years ago since I spoke to him, I can't judge him for something that happened ages ago. People change including myself. Jordan Peterson is amazing. I have taken his personality test and it is definitely eye opening.

ha, Peterson is so likable, though not easy to take - he tells the truth and truth hurts sometimes, but he straightens you out - but he's likable and I'm so disagreeable I feel like I'm tearing him to shreds most of the time, lol. I'm glad at least he appreciates us disagreeable folk. I think my test was not as far off as Sean's but I also am higher in compassion and lower in politeness...and it sucks! I wish I could just not haunt myself so much. I think that's maybe what Sean was referring to with the 'blunt hammer' reference.
This was a great conversation between you all. Very happy to hear Tammy is pursuing her art:) As an artist I'm excited to see her creativity shine. And Sean and Sax are a fabulous looking power couple, love the energy

This was an insightful conversation! I appreciated Dr. Peterson's heightened awareness and caution around addressing relational behaviors and problems head-on without letting too much time pass because passiveness inevitably cultivates ill behavior. I married my best friend at 20 and I will be 33 in 2024. While our marriage has been incredibly full and blessed, we have worked through many challenges in communication, finances and finding our rhythm of "play" among each other. I tend to be more passive to avoid conflict whereas my husband is blunt and passionate. Listening to this interview gave me a new perspective that I can use to improve my relationships.
Thank you for the thought-provoking conversation in this interview.

90 minutes a week discussing issues with your partner? Pick an easier partner lol. Maybe I’ve had 90min conversation about problems in the past 7 years cos there really just isn’t that many problems to fight about.
What are couples actually “fighting” about? Even in how to discipline your child, why does that have to be a fight or negotiation? Why are you both so far apart that it has to be a negotiation?
My wife says we shouldn’t hit our kids, I agree, I say maybe a light tap on the bum if they’re very very naughty, she agrees. We both agree to back each other in front of the child, and raise issues in private etc.
JP over complicating this or people getting into too complicated relationships. Men lead, women follow, for the most part, if a woman finds a man she can trust she will follow his lead and there are minimal arguments.
