Yeah, I had seen these covering before in previous cars, this 98 was just clear. I like the pink idea. I've even taken apart Pioneer head units and painted the lamps to match the dash. But that as when they were actual lamps and not LED
I originally rejected going with LEDs in my instrument cluster. I actually held off for about 10 years. I'm on my third Blazer now. My first two were both '99s, both 4-door and both has the factory stereo, and they just won't have looked right, and I wasn't about to go replacing bulbs in the stereos, or running out to buy an aftermarket stereo just so I could install LEDs. I got rear ended in my second one about four months ago, it took a little while to get the insurance check, and then a few days to find the right Blazer. I found it about 90 miles away from home, a 2003 ZR2. Heave mileage, but whatever. I think the first time I had an up close look at one was around 2000 or 2001, something like that. Money has always been an issue, but I made up my mind right then that one day, I'd have one. It only took 20 years of waiting for the right Blazer, had to be a ZR, enough money, and the right price/clapped out ratio. This one was freed of its OEM stereo who knows when, and it has some cool looking blue Sony Walmart Special single DIN. I looked, nothing special, they still sell them for around $70, but it's an ok unit. Nothing too special, but I don't need it to be. If it plays music through all six speakers, it's fine. Anyway, now I'm considering the LED instrument cluster swap, so thanks for the info in this video. I already knew how to access the cluster and change the bulbs from my other two, so the rest of what I needed, you explained perfectly. I never knew LEDs had polarity though, but it makes sense; they'd have to have polarity, but I just never had a reason to think about it until now. I'll be taking better care of this one than I did my first two. The others were ok, but I guess at this point, I'd call them my stop gap Blazers, nothing special, but this one is kinda special to me because of the long wait. I kinda went off the tracks for a minute there, but anyway... I'll be ordering a set of these real soon and I can't wait to see it!
@@sped6954 good stuff, I love me a good blazer/jimmy. I’m looking for another actually. I’ve been saving an old AWD unit to convert one. I don’t really do any off roading. Thanks for the support. Hope you enjoy the channel. I hope to be making more videos soon.
ya it does... my 96 s10 had the stuff over the bulbs so i put blue in mine... my wife seen mine and had to have her 2003 jeep liberty pink... so i ended up drilling small holes on the top in between the guages and the clear plastic... siliconed leds in that then did my own wiring.... it donest look bad i was just trying to see if theres a better way to do it...
How's it going my friend? Question for you, would there be another way to check the postitive and ground of the LED bulbs💡 before putting then in if I don't have a gadget like yours? Thanks you!!
Not sure if it would be easy but try to install them while powered on. I can remember if there is enough wire to extend the guard enough to get your hand behind there.
hey I was wondering if you happen to know if all bulbs on that are replaceable like that... have an 02 s10 been plaguing me well passlock got me and the dam bulb is burned out only way I was able to find out buddy lent me his tablet... wouldn't of been able to do a reset without it... thus why Im asking... yes still want to track down root cause but also would like to know when it's turning on and off
Did you just replace the 194's on the back of the cluster? I got a kit to do mine, and replaced all the same ones that you showed. My kit also came with additional (solder in) LEDs for the needles, and all the other dash lights and was wondering if you changed yours as well. IE. did you split your cluster, unsolder and then resolder in the new LEDs or did you just replace all the ones on the back of the cluster?
So I have a 2001 S10, and my cluster has a greenish film on it. If I put let’s say red lights in the cluster, will it show through that green filter? Or how do you take out that green filter? PLEASE HELP
If there is a layer of green then it would be for green light. The s10 lights actually where just clear lights. If they wanted a green light like the turn signal the use green plastic on the gauges. I didn't change them cause I didn't need to. Some older cars I've seen had like a film over the bulbs to change the color but not in this example. I'm impressed with the way these inexpensive bulbs looked. Hopefully this helps
Lewis Aultman . Didn’t change those. But I have a full size now that I changed to green and going to change the A/C panel lights on that one. I’ll make another video
MaxiumOverdrive789 Honestly I probably would not use them again, I did my green truck with green lights and they blink. Not sure if they were a bad package or not but I may try other brands

Once you determined the led bulb polarity how did you know which way the sockets in the board run?

Did you figure it out?
@@NiceGarage that bulb was a soldered LED, and after more digging it was cut intentionally, stuck in relearn mode failed resistor for a passkey bypass

Didn't know about the needles, I just used new sockets with the LEDs. I didn't change the turn signal lamps cause of the green
So I have a 2001 S10, and my cluster has a greenish film on it. If I put let’s say red lights in the cluster, will it show through that green filter? Or how do you take out that green filter? PLEASE HELP
i noticed the bulbs dont have the green tint thing over the bulb... so theres a layer of geen actually in the guage.. so how did you bypass this?

How do you change the shift airbag seat belt and other lights that are inside on the printed control panel
Didn’t actually think to change them. So I’m not sure.
Did the sockets work?
Yes it did, turned out well. I recommend them. They do not dim. I also swapped my 02 Silverado to green with the same brand. Looks good also
Just got them and they don't fit my 2003 s-10, too big. That sucks.
My bag says 16mm hole diameter, do you know what yours are?
My dash is a 98 they twisted right in. I know in the 03+ Silverado you have to solder them in
My stock ones look just like yours, maybe I should order them for a 98.
is this the same size as a 99 s10
What size is the bulb
194 lamp. I have another video on them
What size bulbs
James Eichele 194 base
What did you do about the a/c control panel?
Lewis Aultman . Didn’t change those. But I have a full size now that I changed to green and going to change the A/C panel lights on that one. I’ll make another video
Did you guys figure out what size those a/control panel lights are?
Link?

Ok thanks for the heads up
