@chords4dayz don't know the name of the song but Bill Lee, Spike's dad has something to do with the music in the film. I have this movie on DVD and VHS and looking at the credits u can see some of the musical artist.
The light-skin dark-skin separation deals with the issue of colorism in our community that began during enslavement. The end, when Lawrence is screaming wake-up -it's a call to Black America to come to consciousness about the issues we face. In this movie it was apartheid, hazing, and colorism, and the separation of Blacks in general (those that are "down" and those that aren't)
I don't know why Giancarlo Esposito didn't resurrect his Dean Big Brother Almighty character for Revolution. That character would fit perfectly for the series instead of Captain Neville. Imagine Danny, Charlie, Ben, and all the men under his command calling him Dean Big Brother Almighty everytime he showed up around them or others in a village. I sure can!
School daze was an good moviw. But the part I didn't like the light skin was against the dark skin talkin about they hair it still goes. We are still african american if you are light or dark
I love this movie and soundtrack. One of my all-time favorites.
My favorite part from the whole movie. "Please....wake up......"
I am also old enough to remember when Laurence Fishburne was Larry Fishburne.
This was a cool retrospective on the movie.

No wonder I never knew about Giancarlo Esposito, he was in spike lee movies. Spike Lee movies aren't made for my kind
"Your kind" meaning idiots I'm guessing.
Murtaugh my kind being the dominant kind, get it right bitch!
Lol enjoyed the movie but I didn't get the light skinned separation from the dark skinned and especially the ending
black college life. in all its complexites. the racial thing has gotten better between the dark anf light skin blacks.
Damn , The 80's Need To Come Let Me Grow Up In It !
