    Well done as always Meghan on handling this topic. Menstruation is a fact of life and yet it’s amazing how little it’s still talked about. The more reliable information out there the better. Thanks.

      So happy you enjoyed this topic Jane! It's very true - I think this topic should be talked about more openly :)

    I use a diva cup and I can't go back. I love it so much. I didn't want to use it at first, but I couldn't imagine life without it.

      BTW the reusable pads are awesome too. They really are not that hard to clean. I soak mine in a gentle soap then wash them separate from the rest of my laundry.

    I got my Luna Pads in 1998 when I lived in Vancouver, 21 years later they still work great!!! I can't use the cup or tampons because of my inverted uterous so I use pads, try and buy organic ones when I can.

    Good job addressing a very natural subject that makes some women uncomfortable without making them cringe. I myself use the diva cup and love it. Started looking into all the options out there, because my oldest is coming of age and I want her to find what product makes her feel the most comfortable. There are so many options.

    • @meghanlivingstone

      It's definitely so great to let young girls know their options! Glad to hear you love your diva cup :D

    Cloth menstrual pads....best decision my daughter and I have ever made. I sew all our pads so I get to make pretty pads that are ridiculously comfy. I use mine for incontinence as I am done menopause. They are super easy on your body and the environment. No leaks, no mess, no smell and best of all no more buying products that have no business near my "business".

    Excellent! Gals will really benefit from knowing about the dangers lurking in hygiene products. I've tried all but the panties. I highly recommend the Naturcare and also reusable pads, although the caveat is what to do when you're away from home; that was a bit challenging. A bonus- I noticed less cramping with the natural products.

    I've been wanting to make the switch to natural and healthier menstrual care! Thank you so much for this video!!
    Side note, I love how minimal packaging you are. I recycle everything I buy, but I would love to recycle less! And not come home with plastic!!

    I started using a diva cup 5 years ago but now use the Sckoon cup and love it more. I will never go back to disposable products. I also have cloth pads. Ever since switching to reusible my period is less painful, lighter, and shorter.

    I've used pads and tampons for the first 4 years of my period, but then I switched to a menstrual cup by Meluna and I absolutely love it!
    It feels so much better and is more convenient and also you are doing your body and the environment a big favor!
    I've already convinced my two best friends of the cups and they love it too, so give it a try if you are interested!

    Another informative video.
    I'm buying the top four on your links provided. I've been interested in trying the diva cup for years and now I will. I'm also going to try the cloth pad while @ home. If I like them, I'll definitely recommend to patients when possible in the provider role.

    • @meghanlivingstone
      @meghanlivingstone  6 лет назад +1

      The cloth pads are actually quite nice! Just need to be washed which is a little different, but I find them comfy :)

    • @MangoJenna
      @MangoJenna 6 лет назад

      My only hesitation will be washing. Perhaps I'll hand wash prior before throwing them in. I cannot imagine washing them with other clothing and seems like a waste of water to throw the pad in the wash all alone.

    • @meghanlivingstone
      @meghanlivingstone  6 лет назад +1

    Thank you for raising a still very misunderstood topic. I use a MOONCUP myself with reusable pads (I picked up a set of 7 from amazon) and have not looked back. It has saved my an absolute fortune, and the 'cup' per-say can last up to 20 years, no more money down the drain.

    Thinx period panties are life changing! I've tried some other brands but Thinx are my favorite because they are like regular underwear, not bulky like some others, but super absorbent and don't make me feel dried out like pads always did. I've never had a leak of any kind all the time I've been using them. They are absorbent enough I can change them before work and wear them all day and change after I come home. And they're really helpful for people like me who have trouble inserting things into their body, even tampons.

    Great video as usual!!! I have used Natracare for a while and am a bit disappointed with them. They're great for a short time but the longer u wear, the more they start to fall apart. I've now been using the Honest brand and LOVE them. Eventually I want to try the cup, but I've gotta work up the courage!

      Meghan Livingstone I felt like I was having a uti every month, and felt itchy and pain. I stopped using tampons and it went away. I discovered Lola, and have worn tampons again! I tried another brand once and had issues again. You can check them out at www.mylola.com to try them out.

    I know this is a weird question. But how does just pads work out and how many hours do you wear before changing out? I want to wear just pads but if leaks through and gets too messy or maybe my flow is too heavy

    • @SharmaineDORK
      @SharmaineDORK 3 года назад

      If you're talking about disposable pads:
      Its always a pretty accurate estimate for me. I've only used disposable pads before and for over 10 years now. (im 23 this year)
      I usually change mine when its about 90% full or after 4 hours (coz longer is bad for your vagina), whichever comes first. I can always kinda know on what day my period is heavier and how frequently i have to change my pads.
      Maybe you can try pads for heavy flow.
      When you first start using it, every hour or so you'll have to go to the toilet to check how "full" it is and you need to change it when its almost completely full. Or try to feel the moisture and weight. When its getting full, you'll feel it weigh like a full diaper and it'll feel really moist against your vagina.
      Also, you'll wanna position your pad so that it catches your blood evenly. Ex: if your pad is always full on the front side first then you need to move it to the front a little so that the back part gets to soak some blood too.
      And if you keep feeling blood gushing out, you'll probably wanna check on it more frequently.
      It gets easier to estimate when you know your period flow pattern and you use the same brand/type of pads for some time~ Hope this helps!

    I have try the lunette cup but I can't get it out. It had turned sideways somehow...so I had to go to the emergency to get help with that. It's a pity because of the cost and I can't use it anymore.

    Ive been wanting to make my own reusable pads. But maybe purchasing them would be better.
    I’ve also been considering a diva cup. So do you just pour the blood into the toilet and then rinse/wash it and insert back in?
    Also I’ve always loved the idea of using more organic and natural pads and tamping but due to the higher cost and less product, I haven’t yet. I do love the OB tampons with no applicator when I do use tampons (rarely). The ones you showed look just like them.
    With the reusable pads, do you rinse the blood in the sink or tub before washing them?

    • @meghanlivingstone
      @meghanlivingstone  6 лет назад +1

      Yep that's exactly what you do with the cup! And with the reusable pads, most people do rinse them first. But they're completely washing-machine safe :)

    Here in Indonesia I've never seen tampons and menstrual cup.. By the way how do the women use that tampons and menstrual cup?? Where will the blood go out? 😄thanks

    • @meghanlivingstone
      @meghanlivingstone  6 лет назад +2

      Tampons just absorb the blood, and you remove them and use a new one after a few hours. The menstrual cup collects the blood just like a cup would, and you simply pour it out and re-insert it!

      Meghan Livingstone thank you Meghan.. I've already searched how to use tampons and menstrual cup.. But I would better choose reusable menstrual pad.. Because it can't make me hurt to use 😂

    You might not want to be promoting Period Panties as a stand-alone option
