  • Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers missed their chance at the playoffs after losing 20-16 to the Detroit Lions last night. Rodgers threw an interception with under four minutes remaining and the Green Bay defense was unable to get the ball back as Detroit ran out the clock. Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe discuss the Lions win over the Packers on Sunday Night Football.

Even before the season started it was clear to me that they would be weak, and I haven’t thought that Rodgers has what it takes to elevate the team in key moments for years now. But, the Packers decided to go all in on Rodgers and build the team around him. So far, it hasn’t worked out and it’s getting worse as time goes on.

I don't want him to retire yet. As underperforming as Aaron Rodgers has been lately, that's a 4X MVP standard of excellence he's being compared to--including himself, and in my opinion, he's still a threat on the field and better than any other alternative. When he's off, he's still better than most everyone else at that position. What are we going to do, go with an unproven unknown rather than our Hof bound 18year franchise QB? I appreciate his time with us and hope he stays. Also, I hope he has a great last season and ends on a high note. For all the haters who want Anybody but Rodgers, I have this to say; Anybody but that horrible Jordan Love who's just a Brett Huntley!! Need someone like a Trevor Lawrence even, but I hope at least Rodgers retires a Green 💚 Bay 💛 Packer! 🏈🧀🍺

It might be time not only to let Arod go but to fire the whole coaching staff because what LaFleur commands is such predictable and situationally unaware playcalling that it cost us a lot this season and that means to let Barry and Stenavich go.
After the London game, we could've been a run first team, instead they sticked to the ever same RPOs, checkdowns and short yardage passing game in crucial 3rd down situations. I mean who goes for it on 4th&1 but doesn't let his 250 pounds bulldozing RB plough through?

Goff proved he's better than Stafford once again. And that Lions team under Dan Cambell fights HARD just like they did last year losing all those CLOSE games. St. Brown picked up where he did last year after coming back from missing a few games from injury. The only 2 real blunders the Lions had was that BIG holding call that got that fantastic touchdown called back that would have completely changed the momentum of the game. And one missed field goal. Lions on the up trend, Green Bay on the down.
Green Bay didn't play to win this game. Rodgers just chucked the ball up in the air into double coverage and got intercepted. Pushing a trainer on the field who's trying to tend to a player and can't get there because you're STANDING IN TE WAY. And then gets bumped off by another guy after that, you stupid?? MOVE. Now you go crying to the locker room as if you didn't do anything wrong in the most important game of your year, nice one dude.

Packers did that to themselves. 2020 was that year. Never were we so close to the SB since 2014. But you had to trade up for a QB whom you could've easily gotten in the 2nd or 3rd round instead of taking Tee Higgings or KJ Hamler or Laviska Shenault. Aaron played his brains out but we lacked a real #2 WR and lost against the Bucs because of a fumble, a dropped 2pt conversion by an average WR and the stupid decision to kick a FG with 1 min. left. Even 2021 we still could’ve had a deep playoff run. Instead, the front office ruined their relationship with Davante and got him traded although he was our sole threat and then they signed Arod to an astronomical contract instead of trading him to Denver who everybody saw were courting him and you could've fleeced them like the Seahawks did. Now, a young QB who nobody knows how good he is, will be on the payroll while our team is blossoming on defense and has new firepower at WR.

As a packer fan, Arod should have been gone 3 years ago when he started being a diva…i only watched 3 packers games this season. I hate the fact that Arod was not let go/traded. I am hoping Arod is gone next season, but i have a feeling he will be back :/

As a Vikings fan I have bottomless respect for the MCDC Lions. They're a terrifying opponent to face. We've beaten them, but we've beaten a lot of teams this year, and they've beaten us badly. The Vikings are going to have to put in a lot of work to keep pace with how dynamic that Detroit machine is looking to be.
It's been a long time since Minnesota has had the run of the division, and it doesn't look like it's going to happen now either. But honestly, I'd rather have it this way. The reason everyone up here despised the Packers was because they spent the last twenty or thirty years preening and lording over everyone else in the division thanks to their HoF quarterbacks covering the flaws of the rest of the roster. The NFCN is a bad division when it's just one team doing well. When there's more than one? Then we keep each other sharp. There's a lot to respect about the Packers, but it was impossible to do so when their fans refused to respect any of us.
Time to see just how far Minnesota's fourth-quarter fuel injection can get us. Because next year, with the Lions looking like they are, the Bears about to enact the mother of all rebuilds, and the Packers having young talent that could sharpen to a point at any time? We're going to need to keep that AND have more tricks in the bag to keep ahead of them.

The Lions have put the league on notice: We are coming. We will beat you by any means necessary, and you will not enjoy a moment of it. Even if you win, you won’t feel like it, because we’re going to fight you for every second of the game. Beat us if you can, survive if we let you

@@keithmadison8754 Oh, 100%. I'm worried about how many old players we could be losing soon, I won't lie, but there's very little to be disappointed in this year in terms of improved performance.
However, we NEED that defense help and we need to improve the first three quarters of play if we're going to keep pace.
