Vocally KFAD Is better then Angel dust also Star A.D is a good track for me it has that Jazz rock sound alot that makes this album more bold and different. Good pump up song but not a soft mellow song like some or FNM more mellow stuff like stripsearch or evidence lol.

You truly nailed the rankings. I can't believe you mentioned "Star A.D.!". Totally agree with your take on it. Also, Angel Dust felt different also, because we had the Bungle debut 1 year prior. For myself, I didn't know what to expect with Angel Dust because of Mr. Bungle. I saw FNM open for Billy Idol at the tail end of the Real Thing. Saw Bungle next in 92. It all breaks down to perceptions and you get it. See Bungle in May for the 2nd time in May....32 years later! I've followed Patton's career since 1989 and he is my music God.

Curious to know where you would rank all the B-side stuff! Tons of excellent songs there like Absolute Zero, I Won't Forget You! Plus Patton's rendition of Greenfields and Blue Spanish Eyes. I would rank Sol Invictus and KFAD much higher.

Hey! New Subscriber here. Absolutely loved this video! I too am a dye hard FNM fan so watching this made my day. For me, my list would be: S - Angel Dust, King For a Day and Album of the year. Picking a favourite between them would be like picking a favourite child. A - The Real Thing, The Rest fall under B's for me. I Agree with what you said about Star AD. I never quite got the song and feel that is out of place on that album, but I do like Mike's vocals on it. Always skip that song. I LOVE RV on Angel Dust. Its just so fucking weird. And I like that. Album of the year for me I rate as a S as its so different and heavy to their other albums. I LOVE Pristina, especially when they play that live. Same with paths of glory. Anyways! I had also bought tickets(and reserved an AirBnB) for that Newport, KY show(as I live in Knoxville), and was severely disappointed in the cancellation of it. I've been a diehard Pattonhead for decades, but have somehow never seen him perform live with any of his projects. So I was very pumped for that show that never happened.
Hmmm let me think. This is my list S - Angel Dust, Faith No More, We Care a Lot A - The Real Thing C - King For a Day D - Album of the Year E - Sol Invictus Really loved Chucks energy and for me the first two albums have a really strong vibe, puffy really shines, and I just enjoy how they already had such a strong sonic identity. Angel Dust is just Angel Dust obviously Real thing missed s tier because i don't enjoy Patton's kind of boy band whine he had on this one, although he obviously did a lot more than that on this album. Too many great vibes and moments for that gripe to ruin it, still a classic but maybe a "growth" album for the band. King for a day, kinda just turning into a rock guitar band here, Roddy seems to have taken a big step back from this one and for me, his keyboards always played such a huge part in elevating and expanding the bands sound. Some terrible tracks imo but still some good moments. I put it on occasionally 🤷♂️ Album of the year, guitars just filling up space in the mix here a lot of the time, I get no feeling of passion from it. Jim was my fav fnm guitarist, he had a very engaging way of playing imo, he'd make even simple chords or lines sound so vital. Only really put this on to see if I still don't like it 😢 Sol Invictus - fair play to the guys for getting back together and working together but this just ain't for me. Nor should it be! If me and the guys haven't gone down different paths in our tastes in all this time then something is wrong. 3 S tier albums and an A tier is an extremely strong career in my book, and they can't all be classics. They try out a lot of different stuff so it's gonna be a bit hit or miss here and there. Some fav tracks from their career - The Jungle, Pills for Breakfast, New Beginnings, Death March, The Crab Song, The Morning After, Woodpeckers from Mars, The Cowboy Song, The Perfect Crime, Absolute Zero, Jizzlobber (which is far beyond S Tier), Caffeine, Evidence, Gentle art of etc, Mouth to Mouth Wonderful band, massively influential and with great enduring appeal. Puff is one of my fav all time drummers, Billy helped define what I think of bass guitar, Jim in particular is like a relic from times when people played guitar like they really meant it, I'm not sure if anyone ever did "keyboards in a guitar band" as well as Roddy did, I am so grateful to Chuck for his uniqueness, and everyone else has already said plenty about Patton, so I'll leave it there 👍
Always enjoy different peoples ratings and reviews of a great, great band. As boring as this may sound I pretty much like all their albums equally, although for me King For a Day, Fool for a Lifetime is an absolute favorite. And as I think with anyone who's a died in the wool FNM fan, Angel Dust certainly blew my mind when first hearing it. Loved also my late in the day discovery of their true first album, We Care a Lot. But heck, what can I say, it's all great stuff for me.
I caught them live touring album of the year at Brixton academy and it was awesome and also when they reformed I saw them at Hyde park and zombie eaters just smashed it with Mike dressed as a priest lol.
I think Patton was still learning the control and range of his own voice back then. I’m sure if he’d have recorded it in the last 2.5 decades, he’d sing it quite differently.
One can certainly hope so. I’m not into being the one to rain on parades. But I’m 99.9% certain that’s never going to happen from that conversation. 🤷🏼♂️
It doesn’t SUCK. I think it’s a really good song-it just is weird to me in the flow of the album. Maybe moving it more towards the end of the album would feel more natural. Still enjoy it, dude!

I didn’t miss them, honestly. One’s a live album that I don’t consider to be a release of original material and the other is an EP of extra tracks and an album version of a tune from the Angel Dust sessions. So I didn’t include them on this list.
I agree with your rankings other than I put KFAD in the S tier. I even rank it in front of Angel Dust I think it’s their masterpiece. Long live FNM 🤘🏻

My all time favourite Faith No More album is The Real Thing. It was the first album I’ve ever heard by them, and it blew me away! Also nice ranking!
