Когда мне было лет 12, в Москве зимой собака тонула в пруду. Тоже лед был, она не могла выбраться. Все столпились и смотрели. Ну и мы подошли, нас было несколько девчонок. И вдруг какая-то женщина молодая говорит "Вы что тут все оборзели что ли? Что смотрите? Помогите собаке!" Она сняла с себя практически все, полезла в воду и вытащила в итоге пса. До сих пор помню, что у нее были розовые носки (их тоже сбросила). Нам подросткам был хороший урок. Мы до того впечатлились, что обтирали ее потом шарфами своими. А чего эти другие взрослые стояли и не делали ничего, до сих пор не знаю...

I worked with a Russian guy. He didn't speak English well. But when a fire broke out in our kitchen, we ran screaming into the street and called the firefighters , and this one russian guy stayed and put out the fire before the firefighters arrived! And he put out you know what? flour!😆

It's the tip of the iceberg! There are also ""CLOSED CITIES" - the special purpose cities into which nobody is allowed in, except for those who live inside it, and those who got permission to enter. Usually those are military or science cities. And from what I read- they are super clean, well cultured and peaceful.

we have tigers and bears in the Khabarovsk and Primorsky territories, there are cases when they enter the city.. it doesn't happen often. but we don't attach much importance to this. most often it happens in spring and autumn.

I remember when I was younger, there was a Belgian tv show about a guy (Martijn Heylen) travelling from Yekaterinenburg to Vladivostok. It really opened my eyes to Russia and more specifically Siberia. (especially the encounter he has with some builders who are working topless at -30° C) (sidenote: this is not the only thing that influenced me of course)

The airplane at 3:16> reminds me of an article I read in the early 1990s. It said "Go to Russia now and fly with all the great airplanes they have made, as we don't know how long they can keep them flying". Wonderful & wonderfully terrible flying machines capable of operating in absolutely appalling conditions. Flying "tractors" of the best kind, like the Antonov An-2, all parachutists' wet dream. When I travelled in Russia I usually chose the odd routes, to get a chance to fly with odd machines.
