Hi Dom, why pushing on the bottom hook? Wouldn't it be more effective to push on the top hook against the lower one so to block both legs?
The first reason is that I find it hard to push both legs with one arm, they feel really strong there. Probably the better reason is, the top leg is much more difficult to get a good handle on since it's tucked into your hip most of the time.

Yep. But you need to do it without hesitation, since you can't control their ability to sit up to the elbow with a sleeve grip.
