From Detroit Michigan. Almond Chicken has been a favorite of Detroiters for many Many MANY YEARS. Love that delicious crispy chicken on a bed of lettuce with that MOST delicious Brown Gravy that is totally different from our American SOUL Food Brown Gravy.
Thanks for the recipe. I hope this is the right recipe for that Classic Almond Chicken Brown Gravy. Wanna solve the mystery here. I love it so. Bout' to go and get some now. Got an AWESOME Chinese Restaurant just down the street. Thanks. Mo$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$!
If you’re looking for Michigan Almond chicken, this is it! The batter was great, but really needs salt...made as per the directions, the batter was too bland. I made it again, pinch of salt made it perfect!! Was awesome!!!
I'm glad to see someone else recognize the difference in Michigan chinese food. Need more Cathay House copycat recipes!
Thanks for mentioning Michigan Almond Chicken! I grew up eating that version, and it doesn't taste the same anywhere else
Rainbow in Farmington Hills makes it the best
@@TheBernie8822 try Ten Yen in Westland, on Wayne Road near Ann Arbor Trail. They’re still stuck in Covid take out only mode, but it’s amazing Michigan ABC!!
Yes! Michigan Chinese is elite! This was my favorite dish as a child. I can’t wait to try.
Thank you Chef Tom. We go to Ten Yen, and they’ve stayed closed during the lockdown. This is close to theirs....i miss them so much, i hope they open soon....but using this recipe has helped us get through!!! Thanks!
Best recipe I can find for War Su Gai. My favorite dish in this lifetime if done like KOSHENG in Columbus, Ohio.
Thank you for the video and recipe. After moving away from my hometown (Adrian, MI), I have yet to find Almond Boneless Chicken like what is made back "home" at two of the Chinese restaurants. This recipe came very close, except I added a little bit of peanut butter to the sauce. After adding peanut butter, it came very very close to the hometown version. Thanks again
yes--- good Chinese Food here in Detroit and WIndsor--- they are famous for it...
IEGOODY wow small world. I lived in Tecumseh many years.
So it a Michigan thing..lol the closest I get to it in Ohio is Wor su gi
@@jamescorvus8231 Adrian here also
I love how reassuring he is while narrating. "Just put it back together it's ok".
This recipe is PERFECT! DELICIOUS EVERY TIME. I Temp my oil to 350° and then add the chicken.
Chef Tom, just need some clarification on the ingredients for your almond chicken recipe, in the recipe you use cornflour, but in the video, you keep saying corn starch, which is it? (Batter recipe)
I think he’s referring to Corn Starch, I just went to buy damn Masa corn flour and realized that ain’t it lol
Made this tonight and it was a huge hit! I was told it tastes just like the Chinese restaurant we order from. Thanks for the recipe and the cooking lesson. I will definitely be making this again.
Hi, try to use 360 degrees. Thanks for watching.
Please show the gravy 🙏
Thank you so much for showing us how to do this! I love this chicken and we don't have chinese restaurants near hear. I am going to try to make myself!
this came extremely close to my old hometown's Chinese restaurants in Idaho, I live so far away and not a single restaurant in the city came close to the Chinese restaurant except for your recipe, thanks!
HEY! I live in idaho and have been trying to figure out how to make it like they do in the Chinese restaurants here! Seems like no one makes it the way om looking for online, but this looks promising! I'm excited to try
I love Almond Boneless Chicken. Growing up in Michigan, it was my favorite Chinese dish. Too bad they don't have it here in Ohio.
CaptRicoSakaraPrower There's a place in Findlay, Ohio called New China Restaurant. I don't know if it's like what you had in Michigan but it's the reason I'm also watching this video on almond boneless chicken. Haha
R.D. Sharninghouse Don’t you mean Ming’s Great Wall in Findlay? That’s where I always get Almond Boneless Chicken.
I miss this so much. Grew up eating Almond Boneless Chicken at Lotus Pond back home in Michigan. The best ABC ever. Can’t find it anywhere down here in TX. So happy to have found this. Going to have to make it soon!
They have it everywere in ohio
@@mstrfrt1 So sad that New China is closed! We would come from Columbus to eat there. The new owner changed the receipe. :(
Hi, high smoke point vegetable oil. Thanks for watching.
Excellent recipe, easy to follow and tastes wonderful, thank you!
I made this 4 days ago and it was so good! My husband asked me to make it again tonight! I used cashews because that's what I had.

Is corn flour corn starch?
I just wanted to thank you, Chef Tom Lin, for teaching me how to make my favorite dish at home! And I have question for you if you don't mind? What is your favorite Wok? A particular brand? Mine has seen some wear and I'm looking for a new higher quality that will last.
Home cook...14-in Elite nonstick frying pan or wok....cost $55.
Home cook...Carbon steel frying pan or wok.....cost $40.
Thanks! You just saved me $8! Looks great!

Hi, I love your video, but could not make out what the second ingredient was after the flour....I hear corn flour....or did you say cornstarch. Please let me know as I would love to try this recipe.
Corn starch works fine
Hello chef Tom Lin i'd like to say thank you for your very informative video, it's really helpful. May I ask you how much baking powder to use in the batter?
HI, one TBS. Thanks for watching.
is 'CORNFLOUR' corn starch?
Yes
I’m so happy to find this
We don't have this here in Chandler Arizona either. We had it all the time in Seattle
Made it tonight !❤
Just to clarify, you add 1 tablespoon of baking powder?
Hi how long will the lemon or almond gravy last in the fridge or do you have to use it up right away?
Thank u for the video, the chicken came out perfect however, u stated an ingredient in the sauce, after the onion that sounded like "barter"! It wasn't listed. What was it?
Keith Carter butter
Thank you for asking the question - I've been playing this over & over trying to figure it out! LOL
I made this and everyone loved it, especially my finicky30 year old
Chef Tom i have deep fryer is that ok to use for this chicken dish? Also what temp 300 or 350/
I love this recipe! the ABC is better than my local restaurant. Problem: the batter always pulls AWAY from the chicken during frying, and it is fairly soft, not crispy. Any advice CHEF Tom???
Too much baking powder will do that. Also, rub breasts down with a lil oil (or honey) before placing them in your batter. :)
Dust them in cornstarch
Chef Tom, what kind of oil do you prefer to use?
What happened to the end of the video? I want to learn how to make the sauce for the almond boneless chicken.

The video cut off before you finished. Would you please post the recipes for the sauces. Thank you.
what if you don't have corn flour
corn starch is commonly used with flour for a good batter. It may be the same thing.
My favorite
Where’s part 2
You got a recipe for eggrolls that have been sprouts?

You forgot to say how much baking powder you put in. Had to read the directions.

Both the same.
