When making tomato sauce you can substitute the sugar for a finely grated carrot for sweetness (and an extra hidden veg).

Keep your veg scraps in a freezer bag! Once it’s full boil it up with some savoury spices- parsley, thyme, sage, rosemary are lovely- and there you go! Free veg stock!

Yes. This is brilliant. This and your “dump bag” videos have given me lots of inspiration and are definitely things that I will try out. I love the idea of a two hour meal plan blitz. As much as I like cooking, I don’t like the washing up, and this approach really cuts down on that. I’m an see myself doing this selection and also to seeing what I can bring together in my repertoire to do another version. More like this please.
Oh and I haven’t got a soup maker. I just use a big pan and a stick blender

Love this, I bought an electric pressure cooker you can get them on amazon they're called instant pots and are popular in the USA. I use it for dump and go meals instead of the slow cooker.. a stew or a full roast dinner cooks in about 40 minutes all in 1 pot, it's very quick and keeps all the nutrients in the food.

  • @rachaelmurphy6504
    @rachaelmurphy6504 4 года назад +1

The instant pot is my most used appliance and makes soup making a breeze!!! So much quicker and hands off, I just love it! Plus you can use it to make rice, roast chicken, beef, etc. I don’t even use my slow cooker anymore!! Love these meal ideas, thanks!

I was given a morphy Richards soup maker for Christmas and oh my goodness it has changed my life !! It’s so easy - chop the veg and then shove it in the soup maker along with a stock cube and water , and then wait 20mins and it’s cooked and ready to eat! I like to batch cook aload of soup and then freeze it. It is lovely to use up veg that otherwise may get wasted and I like knowing that it’s all super healthy !

Love this video. Still have a curry dump bag in the freezer (and some soups) from your slow cooker/crockpot film. I use Ikea bags but it’s difficult to get them oil free afterwards when washing them out (water hot enough to eliminate the oil would destroy the bag so I wash and clean it well, rinse well then dry it/them and keep especially for the next dump bags. I reuse my Ikea bags, wash then rinse (in case of using again for food) and leave to drip in the sink on empty glass bottles or jars then transfer to the fridge with fridge magnets to dry out, then flatten, sort in size order, roll & store (but I keep the dump bags separate) 💚😊💚

I love my soup maker ❤ I personally find that I eat more soup now as it makes it so much easier and quicker. My favourite soup to make in it is a simple tomato soup, my kids love it and will often ask me to make it. I have found that when making veg based soups you do need to chop the veg quite small if you want it to soften and blend easily. Thanks for sharing xx

I absolutely love my soup maker. No need to worry about burning on bottom, easy to pour, as a meal prep I'd only pre-roast veggies for flavour and on the day only throw a portion in with some hot water and stock cube, select a program and forget about it until beeping reminds me soup is ready. Another quick blend with cream amand I have hot ready to eat soup on a day. It's easy to pour as well. No need for ladle!

And there's an option to blend, then all done so simple and easy xxx

Great hack for you. Peel and chop fresh ginger into chunks. Then when a recipe calls for ginger grab a chunk out the freezer and grate it while still frozen. It saves on food waste (as I don't know about anyone else but I always end up buying a huge piece of ginger for 1 recipe) and also ginger grates so much easier while frozen.

I make lots of these recipes too. A little tip is once you’ve put the meat part of the Shepard’s pie in the dishes sprinkle on some frozen pea. They don’t get over cooked that way. It’s the only way I can get one of my sons to eat anything green 🙄. Also I use thickening granules, they’re so handy. You just stir a couple of tsp in at the end to thicken the gravy (they’re usually near the flour in the supermarket) they’re so good for so many things especially when using the slow cooker. xx

In regards to ginger and garlic I recommend the lazy range. You can get them in Tesco and there ready chopped and in a jar. They last for ages. Saves getting garlic fingers and saves on wasted food x

I make a huge pot of lentil & vegetable soup most Sunday mornings and portion it up for lunches at work. My son has a portion before dinner a few days a week too, to boost veg intake!

Get an insta pot for soups and it’s a slow cooker too! Also a stick blender is a game changer for puréed soups!

I love my soup maker and use it a lot in the winter, I found it a great way to use up my leftover veg and reduce food waste!

For your egg muffins i use reusable silicone muffin tins they are duper easy to clean up and the eggs just pop out and you don’t have to wash the muffin pan! Also an immersion or hand blender works great for blended soups!

I mesh my soup with one of those stick blenders, I don't know what they are called in English, but they are super cheap and handy. you can mesh the hole pot and you don't have to take it out. I got one that has an extension with a closed compartment, that cuts carrots and unions so I don't have to grate them by hand for certain recipes.

Love this! More meal prep ideas please! Just wondering how you store the egg muffins and how long can they be kept for?
I usually just use my slow cooker or the stove for soups.

More meal prep videos please! I’d LOVE to have a big freezer meal plan organized for 6 months from now 😉. I’ve seen your recent slow cooker video and will definitely be making those but I am going to need at least a few more options.

Good job on getting so much done! I need to recommend an Instant Pot, though! It would make all of this so much quicker. Soup in way less time, same with the chicken, and you could save the onion, celery and carrot scraps with the chicken bones and make stock. It takes maybe 90 min in the IP, but you don’t have to monitor the water level-just set it and go. I also have egg molds for mine that make it possible to make soft-boiled eggs without having to peel them! I make over a dozen and then we eat them for breakfast for a week. Life-changing!! Anyway, thanks for your videos with your lovely, cheerful self 😊 Love from the U.S.

I would recommend you an immersion blender, it is so easy to use and doesn't take much space. I have been using it for 15 years and it is still doing its job making the soup incredibly smooth. and also it is easier to wash. wonderful video with great ideas. hope you will make more videos like this.

The whole chicken, have you tried adding salt and pepper with the bay leaf for flavour? X

I have just paused the video to say I love my soup maker. Mum of 3 (8, 6 & 4)and we have soup often. Chunky soup make in 24 minutes and blended soup made in 21 minutes. Chuck it all in with seasonings and job done 😁

A stick blender is brilliant as you can do it straight in the saucepan ( providing its not non stick) easy to clean and store

I would always cook it first then reheat when needed, but that is just what I tend to do. I am not sure if you can do it without. Thank you so much for watching x
