Wow, this was INTERESTING AF. First the "court-appt'd" lawyer looked bad, and then I thought Judge Boyd also looked kinda bad -- the "cp'd" lawyer moreso tho... He should've been an actual ATTORNEY here and noticed there was never an exact amount stated by Walmart and moved for a DISMISSAL from jump since they didn't know how much or even maybe WHAT she took exactly, and then (I don't think she ever realized it tho) she could've also pointed that out to her cp'd lawyer and they could've made this argument, BUT THEN, Judge Boyd looked bad also because she called for 45 DAYS, nearly TWO MONTHS, for there to be an exact amount itemized & given to the court, but she expected it to come from the defense side, when this cp'd lawyer who already obv doesn't do any work nor look for actual defenses (and should just retire) wasn't gonna do all that "extra" work, and the defendant certainly wasn't gonna help the court (2:43), and that SHOULDA been OBVIOUS to Judge Boyd, who was left w/o an answer (3:54 - yikes, Judge) and looked kinda dumb as she stuttered and was stuck like a deer-in-headlights, with even BOTH lawyers not helping any by reminding her SHE ASKED FOR THE ITEMIZATION and was asking again for confirmation on the amount (3:54 - yikes, Judge) when it REALLY should've been prosecution (who was PROSECUTING) that she had get this itemized list/actual receipt from Walmart. But then, of course in Judge Boyd-fashion, she saved face by playing lawyer herself and in true Boyd fashion - she OWNS everyone by seeing where this is going and instead just has the defendant admit under oath and confirm she definitely stole around the $14k amount (4:45 - dummy girl), and all while the cp'd lawyer just stoood by and watched her crash n burn (5:31). The girl really also should've saw tho that there was never an exact amount stated in the records and tried to fight that she never took anything from Walmart, ESP since the State wasn't trying to prove the amount she took. SMH to BOTH sides here: bottomline, this defendant's dumbass should've kept her mouth SHUT from back in the store and not admit ANYTHING, but then her half asleep/half dead court-appt lawyer should've tried to build a defense for her, instead of the usual easy boring plea bargain and maybe TRY at least to get this overthrown and thrown out on a dismissal for lack of evidence, and at a minimum go to trial, but he's too sleepy for that!... unreal.. INTERESTING NONETHELESS, ESPECIALLY "IF" HER CP'D LAWYER HAD WOKEN UP AND NOTICED ALL THIS AND TRIED TO FIGHT FOR HER IN TRIAL!! smdh..

Get a second part-time job! you're young, you won't die from the work! if you work 40 hours a week work 60! so you can be a person of character that pays your bills. And doesn't steal from the very people that help you pay your bills. Besides it not being smart ever to try to steal from Walmart and target which have the best security available to catch shoplifters and thieves. I just think one of the reasons people continue to steal from these places is The punishment isn't harsh. You can steal alot of times before you're thrown in jail depending on the judge you get.
It was the plea deal offered to her. Her lawyer appears to be one of "those" lawyers who thinks everyone is guilty and should take the deal. I'm sure the prosecution made it crystal clear to her that if she didn't like the plea deal, they would take the case to trial where she would be facing jail time.
What happens when she doesn't pay? I keep reading how much this judge is liked. I just don't see it. The amount of resources (tax payer money) she throws at criminals and allows criminals to stay on the streets bothers me. The woman is a thief. $14,000 is not a small sum and she stole from someone who gave her a job. Did she pay for that attorney or did the taxpayers? She wound up having to take a theft class, Do some undefined community service -100 hours translates to less than 2 weeks of 8 hour shifts of service, someone is going to visit her home once a month for three months, and I think she has to do some sort of drug testing? This judge approaches cases like she is the director of a specialized social services under her domain. She always ends each with "is there anything else the court needs to do to make you successful?". I loathe that phrase every time I hear it. Passive entitlement programs geared to sidestep punishment is not what I expect a judge presiding over criminal cases to do. I didn't hear anything about having an audit done and the woman having to surrender or sell anything to pay off the debt. Courts can take ownership of property for unpaid taxes right? Why can't they attach or take ownership of property when a thief needs to make restitution? Can the court garnish her Amazon wages if she fails to pay on her own? Or does it fall to WALMART, the victim, to pursue the restitution? Which means we the people who shop at WalMart are socked with higher prices there to offset what this woman (and other thieves) do.

SMH to BOTH sides here: bottomline, this defendant's dumbass should've kept her mouth SHUT from back in the store and not admit ANYTHING, but then her half asleep/half dead court-appt lawyer should've tried to build a defense for her, instead of the usual easy boring plea bargain and maybe TRY at least to get this overthrown and thrown out on a dismissal for lack of evidence, and at a minimum go to trial, but he's too sleepy for that!... unreal..
INTERESTING NONETHELESS, ESPECIALLY "IF" HER CP'D LAWYER HAD WOKEN UP AND NOTICED ALL THIS AND TRIED TO FIGHT FOR HER IN TRIAL!! smdh..
If she had a good defence lawyer and fought the case she could've beaten it, that lawyer let her down big time
@@Sirusthevirus-ii8ym Too bad she didn't save some of that $14k to hire her own lawyer to provide her with a vigorous defense. Instead, she got a quality lawyer based on her ability to pay...
I thought they didn’t have any proof other than a police report and an admission. odd
Don’t agree anything unless they got the proof are you kidding me?
Moral tempertude is one of the major crimes of today’s pirates.
I can't believe i have more interest in the judge pocketbook than the thief 💰💸💵💴💶
My best guess is she MIGHT make 3 payments and then not pay another dime.
So much for her defense! "well she signed the plea deal"
Damn I love this Judge!!!❤
My favorite judge. Looks like she could have gotten off even though she didn't deserve to.
Her lawyer should have insisted on the itemized list... Good Lord
This defendant is one of the stupidest people I have ever seen, and that is saying a lot. She is completely clueless. No wonder she got caught.
The lack of remorse is crazy to me! She’ll be back…
I love this judge!!!
I’m surprised she got away with the gum chewing that long.
No, she doesn't have a downpayment towards the restitution. That's why she was stealing.
The defendant's lawyer was lacking.
Oh judge, you should of given her some time as well.
Why would she agree to that if they dont have evidence that she did
She stared so hard I thought the video was glitched 😂😂
Court just railroaded her into 14k without evidence
Love Judge Boyd’s handbags!
Most of them are Dooney and Bourke handbags 👜. I have a couple, myself.
But why put it on display?
Because there is a large fan base that watches for them. Her mom finds a number of them, think she may travel a bit. Mom knows her daughter has a fashion interest in handbags. Some of us have a thing for handbags, some for shoes, some for ties (yeah I know guys who have quite the collection of ties) or for whatever you like. Judge Simpson in Michigan has a collection of very stylish Mandarin Coller shirts.
@@FollowingfromafarBooth-jz4jq and I like the judge that wears bow ties and neat suits on the bench.
I don't understand where some people's morals are. If you don't make enough money even though you have a partner who splits expenses with you or you want more money? Get a second part-time job! you're young, you won't die from the work! if you work 40 hours a week work 60! so you can be a person of character that pays your bills. And doesn't steal from the very people that help you pay your bills. Besides it not being smart ever to try to steal from Walmart and target which have the best security available to catch shoplifters and thieves. I just think one of the reasons people continue to steal from these places is The punishment isn't harsh. You can steal alot of times before you're thrown in jail depending on the judge you get.
"Character" and "integrity" is lacking in a lot of people these days.
@cynthiawaldorf9353. Because work is hard and also boring. Also the defendant doesn't believe in delayed gratification.
That's why.
@@NefastusJones Facts and logic.
How do you get to a point in your life where you want to steal $14K worth of merchandise from any store.
Yet she has a tax payer funded attorney. Clown
Her attorney is no good
That lawyer sucked. She should have walked.
Why is her lawyer not doing more to defend her? And why would she admit to stealing 14k when there is NO itemized documentation?
It was the plea deal offered to her. Her lawyer appears to be one of "those" lawyers who thinks everyone is guilty and should take the deal. I'm sure the prosecution made it crystal clear to her that if she didn't like the plea deal, they would take the case to trial where she would be facing jail time.
cuz hes worn out.
Maybe she feels bad for what she did and guessed an amount she stole and wants to do the right thing
Hope she got the 2 years locked up!
Stealing nachos?
What happens when she doesn't pay? I keep reading how much this judge is liked. I just don't see it. The amount of resources (tax payer money) she throws at criminals and allows criminals to stay on the streets bothers me. The woman is a thief. $14,000 is not a small sum and she stole from someone who gave her a job. Did she pay for that attorney or did the taxpayers?
She wound up having to take a theft class,
Do some undefined community service -100 hours translates to less than 2 weeks of 8 hour shifts of service,
someone is going to visit her home once a month for three months,
and I think she has to do some sort of drug testing?
Don't the lawyers get FACTS abo,ut these charges or don't they bother and take the defendants word for it. A very slapdash trial and court , disgraceful way to go about it.🇬🇧 6:19 chewing on gum in court as well. She won't pay.
The theif lost weight
Good deal on a loan if she completes deferred adjudication tbh.
No offense but her attorney isn't doing her any favors, way past time to retire.
Why would you agree with a relative amount?
Oh please! Walmart has insurance that took care of that theft. Give the money to a registered charity. Make a real difference!
Excellent point.
Damn, Amazon will hire anyone
People are desperate.
When they have fines, if they don’t paid fines is anything done ?
Yes. Because she's on probation, not paying the fines is a violation of that probation, and she can be sent to jail on a motion to revoke probation.
She better hope her partner never leaves her
That’s attorney suck. Looks like the judge was giving her a chance to say, Nope that not the amount. I hate thieves , but looks like the legal team sucks here. Mr attorney , do better.
Is it me or she just confessed to the amount under oath 😂 I would have said I didn’t take anything if Walmart couldn’t prove it.. you probably would have gotten off easily 🤦🏽♂️
Your gay female partner pays all the bills and you still chose to steal 14k? She should really break up with you for being a liability (criminal).
after the case !!
@@DonLeRon-h5s Well, we don't know when she was paying all the bills. She's still a deadweight that might cause more problems regardless. Who would stay with that?
@@eduardo_him46 A person who KNOW this thief is going to continue to steal. Zero integrity all around.
