    Wow..so on point for me today .My intake process for the Grad chapter I selected ended early for me due to an error I made in submitting my application....a very silly error. I was not given an opportunity to make the correction .
    I understand the organization's reason for not allowing this ...but the devastation and sadness I feel is more than I had imagined .Not even being allowed to start the process really sucks .I will not lose interest and hope the chapter will have another...within the next year or so. But yes ..even being rejected at the early stage hurts..

      Barbara Hall very true! I'm a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha and I always tell young ladies that didn't make it via undergrad to try grad once they're able to.

      Try a grad chapter that has intake every 10 years.

    I felt like I was rejected by a local chapter in my city Sigma I haven’t heard no information from the membership board. That’s okay it’s not meant for me here in this CITY I live in Once I relocate in 2 years I’ll be able to branch my options into a different sorority. I just want a sisterhood and not feel like I’m competed .

    It’s okay to go for a different sorority when you get rejected?

    • @KelsTells
      @KelsTells  5 лет назад +14

      I do not recommend it. But if you choose to go to a different sorority, make sure that you do it for the right reason. Not because you were rejected. I always tell people that before you make a decision about who you want to join, compare their values to yours.

    Sorry this is really long but bear with me :)
    I went through formal recruitment twice, once as a freshman and once as a sophomore. I got to my preference night both times with my top choice and my absolute last choice (last choice being the same one both years) so I only listed my top choice both times and didn't getting a bid from them. My second year my last choice called me the morning of bid day and asked if I would still be willing to accept a bid from them even though I didn't put them on my pref list. I told them that I needed time to think about it because by them calling me and asking me that, that meant that my top choice didn't give me a bid. I was heart broken and knew that my last choice wasn't for me because all through recruitment I dropped them every single round because I felt uncomfortable there. I told myself that I would rather not be in a sorority at all than force myself to like a group of girls just to be able to receive greek letters. I am going into my junior year of college and I still really want to be in a sorority but I'm scared of being rejected by the sorority that I am in love with. I have considered doing informal recruitment because I feel this way I can really focus on the sorority that I love instead of being brought down by the one that I know 100 percent that I do not like. Do you think that that would be a good idea or is it too late in my college life to join a sorority? I just worry about not being able to make friends since most of the girls my age in the sorority have all ready been in it for 2 years now.

      Hi Katie, I think that if it's something that you really want to do, and if you really want to join that sorority, then why not try again? I've had friends that rushed three times before getting their bid and they didn't regret the experience. Have you thought about connecting with the girls that were recruited? I think that it would help your bid, especially if they know how much you want to join. Thank you for sharing your experience!

      @katiesmith2319 6 лет назад +3

      I have thought about reaching out to girls who have been recruited but I wasn't sure if it was allowed because during formal recruitment you weren't allowed to have any contact with the girls outside of rushing however I'm not sure if the same rules apply during informal, which I would assume that they don't considering it isn't as intense as formal. Thanks so much for the advice I really appreciate it!

    Hey! I tried to join an organization, I have a 3.9 gpa, and a decent amount of community service. What could be other reasons why I was rejected?

    Personally, I had several people who told me that I was fit for XYZ organization, but I wanted to join another org. Would it be a good idea to do research on the org that everyone say that it’s a great for me or stick with the decision of joining the organization I want to join?

    • @KelsTells
      @KelsTells  3 года назад +1

      You need to do more research on why you want to join and what’s a good fit for you. Check out my video on doing research if you haven’t seen it ruclips.net/video/9w5uRdOWbTw/видео.html
