I have begun to be amazed that over more than a millennia at this point their art style NEVER changed. The exact same curves in the depictions of human faces, bodies and hands, the exact same proportions of characters, all without any perceptible variation. That is truly astounding.
That art style was very deliberate and was probably considered to be sacred. Perhaps the only time in which it changed was during the reign of Akahnaten. That, and also the fact that there's non royal art that has been found depicting other styles, shows that they were capable of drawing differently, they just chose to draw like that
It's also fascinating that the style didn't take time to evolve into this form. It was already in place by the 3rd dynasty, which is then followed by the development of massive pyramids. You'd think they'd take longer to reach that point
Although it is true that there's a lot of continuity, it isn't true that nothing changed. In fact, egyptologists can often date and inscription or work of art to a specific ruler, not just a dynasty. There is enough variation for them to do that. Not usually visible to non-experts, but it exists. In addition, there are other things which are more obvious. Perhaps the easiest to see is the design of the sarcophaguses. Old Kingdom style tends to be plain boxes. Middle Kingdom tends to have inscriptions. And new kingdom sarcophaguses are shaped on top like a human and have very elaborate and colorful designs on the outside.
A fascinating period in history, the restoration of the empire, the rise and peak of the Middle Kingdom! I love your channel, thanks for the amazing video 💓🌹

Absolutely! And how this process coincides with a process of cultural regulation and complexification of courtesan conduct is genuinely amazing. Some notorious monarchs throughout history have been successful for embodying a "negentropic" process against a continuous historical tendency of bureaucratic dissolution of the centrality of administrative power. A very similar process took place with Philippe II of France, or within the Inca empire, or with Elizabeth I of England, or in the Shogunate, or in German and Austrian Restoration, or in the Abbasid caliphate. Especially regarding Louis XIV's case, Norbert Elias's book "The Court Society" describes this tendency you speak about regarding manners, architecture, the arts, courtesan protocol, dress, cuisine. It's a pretty spectacular book.
@@HistorywithCy thank you for all the hard work! Always have been fascinated with the beginning of human civilization and exactly how and/or why the first people decided to stay put and start civilizations

He answered that I was so old, I must have been born in 1970 BC. Wasn't sure if I should be mad or happy I look so good for my age. Chose to laugh. Hi, thanks for the comment. Yes, I know of her but the thing is her claims, such as finding 15+ new pyramids, have not been confirmed because many of the proposed sites she has mapped have not been excavated yet so it can't be taken as fact just yet. Maybe one day. Thanks for sharing!

Watching from Israel. Great video
Shalom and thanks for stopping by! Going to release the next installment in a few hours, stay tuned and thanks for watching!
The ancient capital city of the Middle Kingdom Itj-Tawy has been found as of 2016. It was recently found using space mapping technology. Its quite fascinating to read. Wikipedia registers that the ancient capital is still not been found as of 2023 but articles online clearly state otherwise. The city was found by Dr. Sarah Parcak.
@@HistorywithCy true got a point. I kinda figured that it was fact this point due to her finding it around the areas believed the city was to be. You would think they would have started excavating by now.
@@LagunaShirogane Yeah there are so many sites that still have to be examined and to get the permits and teams together takes a while so I can why it's taking so long, but hopefully soon!
