Katie and Scott you are both doing a great job bringing up a beautiful boy. Well done with working on bad habits from when Teddy was sick. I would suggest you don’t talk about it in front of him because he is super smart and will pick things up even if he doesn’t appear to be listening. Set yourself a plate of the same foods and quietly eat talking about anything except the food, if he doesn’t appear pick up or lick/taste a new food don’t react, make just normal. He’ll get there you are doing a great job, well done to all three of you, having a poorly child can’t be easy.
Good luck with your little one. He is just about as clever as a grown person. Loved the whole “let me put the dummy on the chair” ploy. Very effective. Out thinking parents is a great way to gain confidence. I laughed over this because my son was also very bright and I had my hands full trying to stay one step ahead of him. It will all work out. You are very good at guiding him and I love that he is eating some other foods. Much more healthy while he is feeling well enough to allow it. You and his mother are great parents and Teddy is a delight. Thank you for sharing. Glad you did not give up on therapy. We all need a sounding board.
You are very aware of what needs doing - which is great! I think your mum summed it up very well in a previous video when she said he was a being a typical manipulative toddler - that’s what they do at this age. They need those boundaries for their well-being. For my children when I was weaning them off their dummies - I swapped it for a specially made cake at a local bakery (with their cooperation, of course). Perhaps Teddy needs to sit and eat with you and Katie? Well done - you will get there!
Great idea ... family meals! That's how kids learn good eating habits, eating just like mum and dad. He strives to be like you, and the pair of you are great role models. Keep up the good work.
You're doing a great job. My son was 8 when he got his cancer diagnosis so we didn't have any dummies etc to contend with but he got so much screen time in hospital and he was in hospital for 309 days due to complications with his bowel caused by cancer (he had non hodgkins lymphoma) so A LOT of screen time. He has never liked lego or colouring/art and screen time helped him escape from what was going on so he got all of the screen time he wanted. He's also had issues with eating because of the bowel issues the lymphoma caused and there was a point where he did nothing but eat KFC or McDonald's but it was considered better than not eating at all and he needed to eat. A new normal is hard, especially when you get advice from people who have never been there and have absolutely no idea what it's like to watch your child go through hell. You've got this.
So glad you’re moving toward helping Teddy become the toddler, and you guys becoming the parents. You have all weathered the storms so well, and now is the growth of normal relationships. Well done, Dad!! ❤
This couldn’t have been said any better. Having lost a child, I truly understand their fear. On the other side, the child we didn’t lose became the center of our world. We led him to believe that the world revolves around him. It was very difficult for him to enter school and adult hood having this mentality. THE REST OF THE WORLD didn’t give in to him as we had done.
Scott you did amazing job with Teddy today. I would only use one binky. I would take all the other's out of bed. I wish you and Katie the best. Have a magnificent day.
You guys do amazing! Im sure he will soon get the joy of tasting new things soon. Its so good that you eat with him, then you can keep a conversation with him and eat at the same time and he will soon forget to want the phone at the table when eating. Some kids gets inspiration to eat by sitting at the grown ups table and eat food, like making pizza together or meatballs and then eat it together. All ideas you can come up with will be good. Scott, your creativity with ideas is amazing you and Katie are really amazing parents! Always looking forward to watch your videos two times a week.
Hi i only started watching your videos over xmas with all that worry you went through and heart broke for you both...but im so glad Teddy is ok❤. With the bad habits i totally get it, my children are both autistic and i remember worrying that he would have a dummy forever because it was the one thing that would comfort him if we went somewhere out of his comfort zone, i.e new places, drs, hospitals....but im glad to say the day does come where you can progress...you got this. Same with food, it's took years but we've perserved and he can now eat a variety of food. Sometimes the priority is just making sure they eat something, so i can completely understand. Im so glad Teddy can now enjoy life being a healthy happy little boy 😊
My son was so attached to his dummy as well so I can really relate to Teddy. It was a struggle to get him off it and after many baby steps it worked. Imagine yourself stopping something you love how hard it would be. Good boy Teddy……👍👏🏻😅
Well done Teddy you are a clever little man with all the good habits you stared today . And Scott you did a fantastic job explaining to Teddy about not having his dummy and well done with starting a new food regime with Teddy .
From a mom of 4 with 1 of my kids having ADHD and Marfans she was a handful. She was my laatlammetjie born 10 years after her Sister and 13 years after her brother. She was so different and i read ferociously on everything i could find to make her happy as well as our life have some normality again. The one big lesson I learnt was don't sweat the little things,. Pick your battles one at a time as needed. Don't be pressured into doing the changes at once. It could become confusing for little Ted. I'm definitely not telling you how to deal with your child, just giving a mom's perspective. She is a wonderful, caring & loving married 31 year old. Her older sister still teases her sometimes with Geez ive always loved you Mikaela but boy sometimes i didn't like you. I also had another surprise menopause baby 18 years younger than my eldest son. I call him Gods sense of humour. I also feel i should mention my older daughter had hearing problems and from pre primary to end of Std 5 she went to a partially hearing school. She went to normal high school and managed fantastically. Onviously each child is different and I've for obvious reasons not gone into all details of drs, hospital & therapy visits but just know there are many of us who can emphasis with youand think uou are dealing with everything like troopers. 🇿🇦❤
Try adding puréed veggies to potatoes in small amounts at first. Potatoes were a go to my kids as well. Mix and match what he already likes with other healthy things. Be strong for your family. Projecting bad outcomes and worry doesn’t change a thing. Every child gets sick. He looks like a healthy boy and positivity is golden.
So proud of you, Teddy. You’re a strong cheeky boy. I love the approach that you are taking. It won’t take him long to catch on. Looking forward to next Wednesday and Sundays videos. Love the Bridge family.❤🐖🦮🐐🐮🐴🐑🐽🐴
Teddy is old beyond his years, his vocabulary is amazing. When he was in hospital so poorly every parent would have done the same, 3 simple things that made him happy, even now he is sooo cute about his dummies and food it's hard not to laugh or give in but you are doing brilliant. ❤
When it’s meal times it’s important for parents to place their own bowl/plate full of food down on the table too, and sit relaxed while eating. In Canada I have seen so many parents not eating their food with their children. I was working at one house and I decided to sit down at the table and eat with the child and what a difference it makes to normalise what everyone does during meal times. When children are so focused on you they pick up items absentmindedly putting them in their mouths and realising it really doesn’t taste that bad. Teddy’s missed out on the feeling, playing, squishing, tasting and trial phase due to his medical treatment. All the focus shouldn’t be on getting the child to eat. Children watch you like a hawk, listening intently to what you’re eating, saying etc. I was a nanny for 25 years, reading every book imaginable and making ideas up that worked for us all. Also invest in a GoPro, so your phone isn’t the focus that it is. Good luck.
I had my three grandchildren this weekend with us. It is typical here in Finland to eat the meals adults and children together. We also let children to help to prepare the meals as well as bake with adults. The youngest of my grandchildren has just turned two. Yesterday he was all the time with me helping! He sliced the cucumber, washed the cherry tomatoes, add the ingrediens to a bowl to make pizza dough, spread the tomato sauce on the pizza as well as the tomatoes he had just washed etc. While working he wanted to taste and eat everything! There is always more to clean afterwards, but what you both gain and what you give your child is amazing!
Hi guys. Scott you’re a good husband doing your share of housework. Love you Teddy. Gosh he speaks well now. Hi Katie. I loved the France trip video. ❤ great parenting Scott. It’s hard to get the dummy off them. I only had one child who was dummy reliant. We gave her dummies to the fairies so other babies could have them. lol. Worked a charm.
Teddys a smart boy, and your right habits are hard to break…take some breathers , go for a walk or put on some music..his years and frustrations won’t last forever ..He loves music out some music on ,it’ll draw him out eventually, get out he animals m change the scenery and he will forget the old things in time! You’re doing a great job ! Hugs
Fairplay to you scott i understand what your saying now its time to tackle the food dummy and screen time😊 You can do it takes time and patience and for what you been through im sure you will win❤
Great job Scott in day one! You have to put your wishes to the child in a loving way which you did. He totally forgot that dummy when he played. If he was still at nursery, he wouldn’t have it. Suggestion for upcoming meals, just offer a few new things, no potatoes. He needs fruits, vegetables and meats. It will take time and patience but you can do it!
I often found the scoop and change scenery and activities effective .They realize something else can be more fun…and trying new things ( foods, etc)can become interesting and rewarding ..maybe try to tomentiokn or even spell the d…… he’s so smart he will soon understand the spelling of mean his desired item..and will help you mot to slip and actually mention it..just a thought
Sickness is everywhere. Flu, colds and everything else. I've been sick since Dec 30th. My daughter manages a truck stop and people are getting sick week after week. I haven't left my rural property this year.
Your doing a great job Rome wasn’t built in a day and he’s such a clever boy he will get it in no time, well done teddy eating your waffle such a big boy.yeahh💙💙👏👏👏👏👏👏👍🌟⭐️🙏
The thing is super ted is really advanced for his age he knows how to get his way it’s cute lol how he does it. People need to realise in the comments this boy has been through hell and come out the other side. Hugs superted. XX
My 35 year old son was born with multiple birth defects and he was in and out the hospital for almost half of his first 6 months. The pacifier was super important for comfort especially since they were always restricting his intake by mouth. He was doing pretty well around age 1 and he stopped using the pacifier altogether. Then he ended up having surgery again and couldn’t eat. I gave him a pacifier that the hospital had and I couldn’t get rid of it for another 2 years. Santa asked if he could take it when he brought presents on Christmas and he did. That was the end of it.
How about putting some watermelon and cucumber, (mixed) down together. Teddy might get used to this, as both are similar in texture and crunch. Bithy juicy, too. Just a thought, Scott. A bit of fruit and salad together generally, may help him expand his repertoire of foods and develop his palate. You're doing great with him and he will need/want his dummy less and less, naturally. Obviously some of Teddy's behaviour is just normal toddler behaviour, with him testing how far he can push you all. Lovely to see him brighter and i hope the cough leaves him soon. Take care. Love and light to all The Bridge Family.
I just wonder about the very limited diet Teddy is having and also how little he is eating. Does he get any nutritions like vitamines, protein etc. in some other way? In Finland even the totally healthy children are told to take at least vitamin D all winter long. Especially the picky eaters are also told to have the "vitamin gummibears". Crisps, crackers etc. are treats. Even in nursery and at school children eat a healthy lunch with veggies and salads. Wishing you all the best!
Some crisps or crackers like the rise ones that are made for toddlers have died nutritional stuff or even 12months plus yoghurt have vitamins or stuff added. Teddy is 2 and if you didn't know has been through cancer as you heard scott is trying to get Teddy to try new foods
Yes well done teddy and you too daddy. It’s hard going against a toddler. As someone else mentioned it would be a good idea if you and Kate ate the same as he is even if you want your own dinner later have a small portion of what he’s having. It might help him to see it’s not a bad food ❤❤❤❤❤❤
You’re both wonderful parents, it’s super hard to change young children’s behaviors when they have had such a horrible medical conditions. You got this though, it’s for his better health. 🥰 I broke my kids from their pacifiers by going on a drive and having my kids throw them out the window, telling them they are big boys now and the laughed as they did it. It was hard for a couple of days, but it worked. Lol😊
I had a friend who got her children off the dummy. She told them that the birds had new babies and if they put the dummies on the clothes line outside they’d come for them.
I started reduded dummy time to nap time and bed time only, i also started putting a small hole in the dummies, i found my boys didn't like them like this and were willing to bin them. If they asked for them during the day i would say ok lets go and have a nap then, this soon change their minds unless they really wanted the nap. Give yourselves grace. You have all been through a lot , everything will come clean in the wash as they aay!
You guys are smashing it as the dummy is the worst thing to let go of. A tip is get teddy to put the dummy in a box for the dummy fairy and reward him with a treat for doing it or you could do one at a time 😊
With one of my children, I poked a hole in the binky (dummy) when the child wasn'tlooking. The child lost interest in it on their own.. He decided he didn't like it anymore.
Maybe also in luxe a few bites if other foods when his cousins are around and also eating..watching other kids enjoy foods like pasta ( Mac and cheese) or différente meats and fruits can sometimes be a great incentive to try .
You are both incredible parents. Just an idea but regarding his diet - try eating meals as a family of 3 rather than you and Katie eating once teddy has gone to bed. If teddy can see yourself and Katie enjoying different foods he will be more likely to be interested to try for himself.
Scott I'm a kid and I love watching TV at dinner time it could also be routine for Teddy, and you could choose when he watches TV to me is important and you could also put on stuff with food for example there's an episode of Bluey where Bingo didn't want to try edamame beans in the end she toys it and likes it those types of shows help toddlers try new foods or at least gets it in their head. Watching TV all day is bad but a couple hours 2 or 3 isn't bad atho you should start watching TV not just phone then you could all sit on the sofa for example put on CBeebies and I eat dinner on the sofa and when you want Teddy to put his dummy in his cot just instantly distract him from it like if he laughs and it falls out pick him up and play. Playing is key to everything hope i helped
Teddy understands most of what you are saying in front of him. I suggest trying your hardest to refrain from speaking about your plans, when Teddy is near.
On Dentist recommendation I put a tiny hole in the tip of pacifier. Then gradually made it bigger until mine didn't want it any more Also did the bedtime, nap time only.
Its good that u dont give in to him cos as soon as he gets older hes going to think thant cos you give him what he wants now he will think he can have all time even when hes older im not being funny or mean anything wrong but some one i know is going throw same with there kids
I weaned my child of his dummy by throwing it away when he wasn't looking and busy playing .than when he asked for it i said you lost it you must go find it after a while he forgot about it and got distracted by playing with his toys
What I did with the twins was to get them to throw one dummy into the bin a week until the last one and then only used it when they were poorly... and the same with the twins they screamed when they didnt have their dummy.
You talk too much in front of your son. Kids pick up on things quickly and can start manipulating the parent. Be careful what you say in front of him. Talk to your wife if you need to vent.
Here’s my point, I hope you read my comment I don’t understand the title, it says “being sick has caused this” *who is sick?* *What is this?* the other video the other day said something about “regret” *What regret?* The other video titled “are we making a mistake?” *What mistake?* Going to France or Teddy being sick ? Please help me understand
Teddy has trained you! I have four grandsons 5,4, 2, 0 and they are the same ( even baby ) . The 4yo vomits if he doesnt get what he wants sometimes. They are strong but you have to be stronger! You did such a good job getting Teddy to try other things. ❤️🧸❤️🐕❤️🇦🇺🦘
Katie and Scott you are both doing a great job bringing up a beautiful boy. Well done with working on bad habits from when Teddy was sick. Agree 100%
I agree but sometimes some toddlers need encouragement

You've got this.
Well done Scott...............great progress for first day.
So glad you’re moving toward helping Teddy become the toddler, and you guys becoming the parents. You have all weathered the storms so well, and now is the growth of normal relationships. Well done, Dad!! ❤

Keep on with the therapy..you are gaining ground..well done Scott and Katie
You are doing fantastic and Teddy is too! It all takes time but progress is there!
You guys do amazing! Im sure he will soon get the joy of tasting new things soon. Its so good that you eat with him, then you can keep a conversation with him and eat at the same time and he will soon forget to want the phone at the table when eating. It’s a team effort Katie works just as hard. 💙💙💙
Soooooo damn proud of this kiddo!!!!!!!!
Excellent dad, you're doing great. Hang in there.
Admirable patience dad! Good job all!
Well done Scott and Kate. You are fantastic parents. He will get over the bad habits as he gets bigger. Love the Bridge family.
Brilliant job on your boy Bridge HQ!👍🤩
Great job Scott, you got this. Teddy is so cute it’s nice to see his beautiful face. 🥰

Great work Scott...having a little Teddy tantrum about the dummy is normal 2yr old behaviour...he'll get it don't worry...he's SO smart xx
Doing a great job Super Ted!!!
Well done Teddy you are a clever little man with all the good habits you stared today . And Scott you did a fantastic job explaining to Teddy about not having his dummy and well done with starting a new food regime with Teddy .

We didn’t have screens 20/30 years ago. We had books, colouring, etch a sketch Lego. All can be done from a bed..
Oh how I love his giggle !
What an amazing and sensible Dad you are.xx

Like sleep training a baby…we all hate to do it but it is necessary so a child can learn to soothe themselves to sleep.
Great job guys,it takes a while but you will get there ,good luck 😊❤❤xx
You guys are smashing it as the dummy is the worst thing to let go of. A tip is get teddy to put the dummy in a box for the dummy fairy and reward him with a treat for doing it or you could do one at a time 😊
Well done Teddy
You can use the way of getting rid of it chop the top part and show him that they are broken x
Awww you are doing a great job!! To get some greens and vitamins in him, try baby jelly and or baby juice smoothies!! 😊
With one of my children, I poked a hole in the binky (dummy) when the child wasn'tlooking. The child lost interest in it on their own.. He decided he didn't like it anymore.
Bravo 👏👏 que de progrès
Maybe dip ( like Ranch) with the cucumber will also encourage ..or peanut butter with Carrots or apple
Good news on the positive canulation….hold fast to the positive, expect the abets results ..
Maybe also in luxe a few bites if other foods when his cousins are around and also eating..watching other kids enjoy foods like pasta ( Mac and cheese) or différente meats and fruits can sometimes be a great incentive to try .
Angel baby. Love you.
You are both incredible parents. Just an idea but regarding his diet - try eating meals as a family of 3 rather than you and Katie eating once teddy has gone to bed. If teddy can see yourself and Katie enjoying different foods he will be more likely to be interested to try for himself.
I can just imagine Teddy asking you for his DUMMY. That may well be one of the first words he learns to spell. Lol 🙂 Such a smart and clever boy.
Poor teddy!❤
Teddy understands most of what you are saying in front of him. I suggest trying your hardest to refrain from speaking about your plans, when Teddy is near.
Well do teddy for trying the cucumber 👏
And you are a amazing family and I wish you all the very best to the future
On Dentist recommendation I put a tiny hole in the tip of pacifier. Then gradually made it bigger until mine didn't want it any more
Also did the bedtime, nap time only.
You could try Supernanny's "dummy fairy" technique.
Well done Scott🎉, I had some giggles Teddy is funny. Hugz to you 4 X
Hi,don't worry about Teddy having a dummy,my daughter was nearly 5 when she gave it up
You talk too much in front of your son. Kids pick up on things quickly and can start manipulating the parent. Be careful what you say in front of him. Talk to your wife if you need to vent.
Welcome to the terrible twos. My son said no to everything for a year.
A child should be sitting at the table to eat with his family , Teddy is 3 in April you need to let him grow up he is not a baby .
I think he trys but if he doesn't want to and wants to sit at his table then that's just as good, and Scott and Katie eat dinner later then Teddy
How can make clickbait 🤯

Both are juicy, sorry!
Teddy has trained you! I have four grandsons 5,4, 2, 0 and they are the same ( even baby ) . The 4yo vomits if he doesnt get what he wants sometimes. They are strong but you have to be stronger! You did such a good job getting Teddy to try other things. ❤️🧸❤️🐕❤️🇦🇺🦘
