For recording singing vocals you’re best bet is a condenser microphone with an xlr cable plugged into an audio interface. I use a Studio Electronics X1S - you can get it in a bundle that comes with a reflection filter (helps cut out room resonance) and a pop filter (helps cut down plosives). You could also use a decent dynamic mic, but these are really more designed for live singing. There’s another video on my channel that covers the different mics that I use: The BEST microphones for different situations ! ruclips.net/video/zv4DZPX92Rg/видео.html
Hi - I use the cardioid pattern for speaking as it then focuses on picking up just the sounds in front of the mike, like a standard condenser mike. The other patterns are really there to increase its flexibility for use in interviews, conferencing etc. Hope that helps :-)
@@splootyvision thank you for the comment. i am from turkey and i bought this mike for podcast recording a few weeks ago, but I haven't been able to use it yet. i was excited after watching your video. appreciate it.
@@splootyvision Thanks for the response. The side rejection is so nice with that pattern... I was hoping to turn on lobe off in the DAW and have a super-cardiod. How good is the off axis rejection of just one side of the stereo par?
@@flmason You're still going to pick some stuff up off axis (it muffles/suppresses the sound a bit but does not eliminate it) so not really possible to make it 'super cardioid'.
Which is best option for audio recording like songs (i mean singing 😂)

Grabbed it on sale for just $30. Sounds (ha!) like it punches well above its weight. Thanks for this video.
That is an absolute bargain 🙂
meee too about to see how it works
Very helpful thank you!
Most valuable audio manual... thank you for this!
Do you know if it needs to be used with a headphone? I tried it for a Zoom call and could not hear people talking.
Yes, it is only a microphone so you’d need headphones to hear the other people on Zoom.
Great video! When recording in bi- directional can you record the front and back on different tracks?
As far as I’m aware, no. It’s still a mono signal, just that the mic picks up on each side, you still only get one mono track though.
Would this be good for video conferences, online classes, gaming, etc???
Thank you!
Should work perfectly well for those, I use it to record all my RUclips videos.
@@splootyvision Thank you very much, I think that I will get them after all 😃
thank you for video and review.
which do you prefer when speaking? omnidirectional or cardioid?

Does the figure 8 pattern come in as two channels... one for each lobe (similar to stereo) or just one stream?
Hi, it just comes in as one channel.

Best review, thank you.
