TRRS 499: NS Chicago Line: Sunset Meets at Porter Junction

NS Chicago Line Control Point 482 "Porter"
It's a very chilly evening on the Waterlevel Route an hour east of Chicago, and the evening rush is beginning on one of America's great railroad corridors.
At Porter, multiple lines connect up with the Chicago Line, providing access to Chicago in one form or another for NS, CSX and Amtrak.
As the sun sets, still early in the evening, two meets take shape before the cameras. First up, an NS Manifest hauls out of Chicagoland, destined for the hump yard at Elkhart. Just as they clear the interlocking, a westbound intermodal bound for somewhere in the Chicago tangle is a shortie, but comes calling with a classic RS3L airhorn.
A short while later, NS' B05 local trundles off the Amtrak Michigan Line and back onto the Waterlevel for a short hop from CP482 to CP485 and their home at the Burns Harbor Yard. Moments after clearing the interlocking, they too are met by another NS freight, this time a coal train with BNSF power, destined for a Detroit Edison Generating Station in Michigan.
