    It must be so frustrating for Dr. Schweitzer to have to deal with this all the time. You make a once in a lifetime discovery in a field you are passionate about and idiots try to corrupt your findings to push a personal agenda. It is very good of her to spend the time to personally debunk such things.

      She has stated how much it annoys her.

    • @EdwardThimbleHands
      @EdwardThimbleHands 5 лет назад +2

      I appreciate that she is in it for the facts, but to keep invoking god(9:23) and that the reason it all makes sense and is ordered is because of that god, is kind of annoying in itself. She keeps talking about evidence, but is assuming the motivations and plans to a god for which she has no evidence.

    • @guytheincognito4186
      @guytheincognito4186 5 лет назад +6

      @@EdwardThimbleHands
      Yeah the invoking is a tad annoying but she is still keeping it as a belief and not as a Fact and as such she won't tell you it's a Fact if asked.

    • @EdwardThimbleHands
      @EdwardThimbleHands 5 лет назад +2

      @@guytheincognito4186 Well, at the very least, it wouldn't be a fact that directly affects the outcome of results that she is citing as evidence. The overall nature of her worldview is what I was questioning. If the worldview you hold is that things were magicked into being, even when you agree we me it puts into a suspect position as to how you truly came to your conclusion. In other words: the answer might be right, but how you got it matters in this case also.
      Anyway, I'm mentioning it as a general complaint against believers(especially in scientific, medical, and other practical fields) because, if their faith is held as fact for them, you don't know what other fantasies or superstitions influence their opinion or motivate their actions.

      I understand and agree with your point there. I merely defended her because she is very critical minded and out of respect for her honesty and work ethic.
      As such i feel it would be a fallacy to conflate her character with that of the general godbotherer through simpel generalisation. I understand the worry such a person in general cause but i feel it would be inaccurately attributed to her based on what I've seen of her and heard from intervjues etc.

    One of my brothers is a YEC. I have to remain at least four feet from him at all times at family gatherings because when he brings up this subject, it's almost a reflex to slap him. I don't think anybody else would stop me, either. I sent him a link to your channel and told him to get back to me when he had watched at least the first four parts of this series. Have not yet heard back from him.

      I was referring to her honesty in sticking to the scientific method, and holding that above the claims of faith. She clearly doesn't believe the bible is literal either.
      Theism and a science are not mutually exclusive if your position is that one explains the natural, while the other explains the supernatural. Fact and fantasy might be another way of putting it.

    Another excellent video. I'm certain that if I had stumbled across Paul's videos while I was still a creationist (had they existed back then), my journey out of superstition and to reality would have been much quicker than it actually was. I do not believe that any intellectually honest Young-Earth Creationist can watch Paul's content can maintain a young-earth position. By "intellectually honest", I mean they actually care whether or not their beliefs are true.

    I love how Dr. Swietzer is a Christian, and therefore has every reason to include her findings to support the Bible if they actually did. The fact how she lamented how creationists hijacked all her findings should speak volumes to how her findings really don't lend any Credence to young Earth creationism.

    Nice to hear Dr. Schweitzer once again. So sad she's been engaged by creationists in a "Christianity vs Evolution" war (and by "war" I mean false dichotomy), especially for her who's both an evolution biologist AND an Christian.
    7:48 "I can't explain it to be honest." Another mined quote made by creationists in order to give us a God of the Gaps ("We don't know, therefore God"). Kind of a funny quote, since the explanation came from that same Dr. Schweitzer and her team through their study "A role for iron and oxygen chemistry in preserving soft tissues, cells and molecules from deep time."

    I've probably said this before but what would AiG and various types of Hovind have to point at if it wasn't for the hard work of actual scientists? Without the work of palaeontologists, biologists, chemists, physicists, astronomers, computer scientists, philosophers and others, there would be less for them to misrepresent. A thank you from them would not be out of place.

      Read the bible. The book portrays their god as a complete psychopath with a strong narcissistic streak and severe anger management issues. Not to mention the sadism.
      Look at all the famous stories from the bible. Adam and Eve were reverse psychologied into eating the forbidden fruit; the flood was because humans angered god, yet he murdered every living thing; The Pharaoh was ready to let the jews go after the 5th terrorist attack, but god "hardened his heart", i.e. magically changed his mind, just so he could keep torturing a whole country. And look at the whole Jesus situation! God raped a married woman so she became preggers with his son, a son he only made to let people torture him to death in a most painful way. And why? To forgive mankind's sins. Except god could also just have said: "You know what? Forgive and forget."
      Or Job. All Satan (cast as the bad guy but actually just the voice of reason) did was remark that a guy who has everything has it easy to believe in a benevolent higher power. God could just have shown some poor bastard who also believed. (Or, better yet, not nave any suffering in the world), but he proceeded to completely destroy the poor fuckers life and took everything, just to brag about his faith racket being waterproof.

    To give an analogy of how wrong Eric is on this one (and, to be fair, *all* apologists), imagine a co-worker you don't like. He's a jerk and you hate him.
    Then, as you're reading the police blotter from three counties over, you read an entry about someone getting mugged by a person, probably female, who looks nothing like your jerk co-worker.
    Eric just called the police and reported your jerk co-worker for that mugging. In the wrong *country.* Using one of his physically abused childrens' toy telephones that makes funny noises when you pull the string.
    About the only thing Eric would've gotten right in that analogy is that the mugging was committed by a person. Every other detail (sex, location, time, date, etc.) was wrong. Still following the logic? Well, Eric (and all apologists who misuse Dr. Schweitzer's find) got everything wrong except that some of the words they used are also used in Mary's published papers. It's similar to how you could claim to be able to recite _War and Peace_ from memory, but then all you do is say the alphabet and claim that since War and Peace uses all those letters you basically recited the whole book. Low effort bullshit and a blatant, inexcusable lie.

      "I'm a piano virtuoso!" says Eric Hovind.
      "That's not a piano. That's a Tonka truck toy. It's not even a musical instrument. You're just smashing the toy on the ground over and over." says everyone else, followed with "Exactly how hard did your daddy beat you in the head when you were a kid?"

      I haven't seen it.
      I've been boycotting all Marvel movies for the last year or two because they keep doing this whole 'post-credit scene' thing. It's just a cheap (and really frustrating) trick to make people stay and watch the credits. Movies these days don't even need credits at the end; If I want to know who was in a movie, I can just go on Wikipedia. I shouldn't have to waste a few minutes reading a pointless list of names before they finally show the last scene.
      [Sorry. Rant over now.]

    One wonders why "like structure" has to be used. What is the issue here? Could it be that the finds are so out of the expectation of what is possible based on presumptions of what is possible that this language is thought to be needed in explaining the finds?
    Trolling? Okay.

    I heard about her once in the same regard as this video, you know what she found and said, being taken far far far out or context. Was that here, or did I hear it on or in another place or platform? Here or not, if it's all the same everyone needs to know how she was misrepresented. Keep up the good work Paulogia, whether you read this or not it needed to be said because you make the world a little better, and a little more rational.

    To say that you have a "fresh" DNA in these fossils is like to say that you have carrots when you have a glass of carrot juice. You have some of the materials (probably most of them), but you don't have the whole thing, just the materials.

    It’s too bad there wasn’t DNA that was testable in that TRex and other fossils so we could see where they fall in our Aminote family tree and see if they match with cladogram we have now. Maybe we can finally see which side of the Dinosaur family tree birds lie on.

    Ok, P-Gizzle, I have an off topic question...it's tough living life as a converted atheist, as you know, but is it tougher living as a cartoon? I mean, theists must not believe you exist because there is clear video showing how you are a cartoon and not human. BOOM, consider Christians served! Your welcome.

    What is so shocking about there being fossilized red blood cells? Effectively, a blood cell is a single-celled entity - not unlike bacteria or yeast. Micropaleontology is a field of study, and fossilized microbes have been known for a long time. Given that the animal in question was fossilized, exposed to the conditions where fossilization can occur, its blood being in those conditions is a given. The question of it having DNA though is laughable.

    Dr. Mary Schweitzer is awesome, but I couldn't disagree more that this "is not a salvation issue". Because how are you saved? By accepting Jesus as your savior. How do you accept him? By believing. How do you believe? By being convinced anyone should care what the bible says. Why should anyone care what the bible says when it gets so much wrong about our world? If the Garden of Eden story is false, there is no sin, if there is no sin, Jesus died for nothing, assuming he even existed and was crucified at all.
