Plot Twist: We never left Covid lockdown and this entire time has been a fever dream inside Colbert's TV setup at home.
We're still in that bath haha.
that was actually a pretty good twist. and i love how M. Night poked fun at the usual "subtlety" of his cameos.
Reminded me of the ending of St. Elsewhere.
Samuel L Jackson is in EVERYTHING!
A friend of mine really really wanted (before he actually did it) a GPS voice recording by Sam.
"In a quarter mile, turn left, then turn left... muthafucka."
Thank goodness for that.
Right???
spoiler alert
Shyamalan's cameo cracked me up
I love these auteur takes on the Late Show and look forward to Wes Anderson's... with the requisite cameo by Bill Murray!
And sepia filter.
@@amishdeniro sadly Wes Craven is dead. But I think John Carpenter is still around?
@@amishdeniro yeah 😁
Please make this a regular segment! guest directors! so funny 😂
It already is a reoccurring segment. Your wish had been granted and you didn’t even know it 😆
David Cronenberg, please. And Werner Herzog.
Yes. Keep it rolling. Once we got 2 of these, the rest are a must from now on 👏👏
Good for Stephen for going head at it with the alien, without hesitation! Good to know that we can count on him in case of an invasion,.. ☺️😂
Awesome, loved Colbert delivering interstellar diplomacy on first contact in his meanwhile segment! More of this please!
Now that's what I call a "Fist" contact situation!
"GET YOUR SHINE BOX" was a beautiful moment in cinematic history, Oscar Worthy Performance 🏆
That was a lot of fun! Thank you!!! Didnt expect the "stunt guy" to get an interview... hahahaha Great Show!
I almost didn't see it to the end. Thank you, SLJ. And Stephen doesn't get enough credit for pulling off drama as well as comedy.
Love the twist ending!!!!
What a fun comedy bit to write, direct and appear in.
SAMUEL L JACKSON REALLY IS IN EVERYTHING!!!
Michael Bay’s reboot of The Late Show = Ed Sullivan Theater blows up from a skybeam, originating from Colbert’s mouth facing skywards!
Let’s make this a reoccurring bit please!!!
That alien costume looked like the one they used in scary movie 3, who was also parodying m.nights signs 🤣🤣
The alien part was hilarious!
Yes..I am a fan of M Night Shyamalan and Stephen. Love to see them together!
Oh man I loved everything about this, perfect!
Thank you Stephen Colbert,M. Night Shyalaman I can't sleep 😨 you guys scared me!!
Laughed like a maniac at the alien scene.
Sam!! Was the cherry on top! Great segment 👏 🥰
Can’t wait for Servant this Friday!
Its 3:30a in the morning, here in California, omw to work and this was so hilarious 🤣!!!it's going to b a great day @ work!...thank you Stephen colbert!
The twist ending was actually creepy af 💀
That was classic MNight! Loved it!
They were going to do the David Lynch reboot, but Stephen didn't want to just come out on stage and scream. 😱
He didn't want to come out on stage and scream, "In heaven, everything is fine!"
And then we pan over to see Evie with blue hair, whispering "Silencio"
"It was an honor to work with Daniel Day Lewis". That's the part that got me, I'm still laughing 🤣
Yes this should be an occasional thing of how directors direct the late show
Will never forgive or forget the last air bender
One of the most awful I've ever seen
I will forever call him Movie Night Shyamalan. Idc what you say
Best thing Shyamalan has done since Unbreakable
Well, there was Split.
@@The_RedVIII Yeah that was really good too
Stephen's acting was top notch. I am amazed. Especially the acting at the end was brilliant.
Please keep doing this segment !!!! This was too awesome !
I love how the sound is completely different, too
Silly, goofy, lovable,adorable, giggleliciousness supreme… better than ice cream!!! 🤸🏽♂️ 🫶🏼 🖖🏼
The twist should have been Stephen signing off, waiting for cameras to cut away, then getting told by a PA that he has to get moving, at which point he walks off stage.
Camera follows him as if someone walking a step behind through the entire sequence as Stephen moves through the backstage areas, saying hi to people and trading some jokes but always, relentlessly moving with obvious purpose toward his mysterious goal. The camera does not see his face, as we are set directly behind him but his nervous, restless energy is apparent from the way that he runs his hands through his hair, shakes out the muscles of his back and shoulders, presses his hands to his face and the side of his head in several instances.
In this short time he's passed from the warm back stage of his show, through darker, more functional areas of the entertainment facility, before passing once again into more well-lit and welcoming areas. Now in the distance, over Stephen's shoulder we can see an area illuminated by strong lights and hear the compelling sounds of a live studio band. Stephen bee lines for the lights and his pace quickens. As he comes nearer the curtain, it is obvious that he is at another talk show studio, and PAs, producers, grips give a thumbs up as he passes. A man just in the wings turns out to be Samuel L. Jackson when looks around at our subjects approach. Jackson smiles and puts out a fist for a bump saying, "Go get 'em, Jimmy. See you out there!" just as our subject steps into the lights, waving and exclaiming at the audience.
The camera circles wide but remains trained on our man and as we come around it is revealed to us that somewhere in his transit through twilit corridors Stephen has transformed into Jimmy Fallon. The camera pushes in to an extreme closeup as the scene slows down until the frame freezes on Jimmy's cold, dead-eyed, soulless grin, before sounds and picture fade out.
OMG more like this please! I loved OLD!
The twist is he was Jimmy Fallon the whole time.
Kooky and ham-fisted but enjoyable :) Thanks writers, actors, directors, and more!
Stephen Colbert beating up that alien was pretty funny. I hope that happens in a future "Meanwhile" segment.
I expected to find out at the end, that Stephen was the one being interviewed all along.
The ONLY reason I got to sleep after watching 'Signs' at the cinema was because it was raining hard and all the invaders would have melted
This was hilarious 😂
Love it - behind the scenes such a great ‘bonus’. This was hilarious - nice David Lynch reference.😎
I love how Stephen threw in “go get your fucking shine box” while kicking the shit out of the alien!
Somebody needs to pay for my dry cleaning, should have a depends warning. 😂
I love to see this segment with Clint Eastwood.😂🤣😂🤣
amazing
The twist would be this was all just a pitch meeting Colbert gave Comedy Central for the follow up to "Colbert Report".
Brilliant !
Yup, another one to my fav list.
Very cool late show, I love all the movies released so far, awesome name. 😊
FUN! Fun fun fun fun FUN!
This is Great!! ❤️❤️🎉
Love M Knight's movies.
I'm still mad about The Last Airbender 😒 😤
Eff that movie 😂
Same!
Love Shyamalan's movies! ❤️
Brilliant
Oh, that was awesome 👏👏
Epic!
Love. M Night . Colbert. Your. last. Scene. from
within. your 👁️. movie
worthy. ✌️
Ngl that was a nice twist.
Crazy. That was wild.
what a twist
master of mysteries isn't how I'd describe MNight's style...
Can't believe Stephen didn't list bears as something he's afraid of. They are a #1 threat!
Exactly, bears should have been #1, #4, #8,#9,#10
😂😂😂 Loved every minute of it.
That was a good twist!
This was so damn funny. I hope they do more. Can do Spielberg, Jordan Peele, James Cameron, the list goes on really.
What a twist!
Samuel L. Jackson always gotta say "modafukah!"
"Where She Was" by Leave Those Kids Alone .... band of high school kids original song.
get this band on , so deserving. This song is killer !!!! check it out on their YT channel,
This is beautiful! 🤣🤣
I kinda wish they had just filmed the whole episode with the dreamy lens and ended the show with the straightjacket bit.
Now thats a twist !
OMG that was so good 😂
4:52 Oh, wow. A Daniel-Day-Lewis segment, too.
5:20 He doesn't quite look the way I expected.
Fantastic! 😂😂😂
Now that's what I call a "Fist contact situation"!
I'd love to see the Late Show directed by David Lynch
Wow but the ending really was great.
Oh Michael Kosta. You're so random and your comedy's too. Daily show has formed you well my friend. Excellent execution.
Yes, they do move.
Ghostbusters & Sixth Sense crossover.
Cocoon & Old crossover.
2 things. 1st is that we need more Late Show movie bits. Loved the Zack Snyder one too. 2nd is that we need Jon B to come back as a musical guest
I felt like I got punked with "The Village" This ending was far better.
GO GET YOUR SHINEBOX!!!!! LOL!!!!!!
Kool Beans!
Hilarious!
4:20 For my money? Still the scariest scene in cinema...
this is not the first time colbert beat up aliens
Shyamalan quoted Scorsese, nice!
Please do Werner Herzog and David Cronenberg!
next time bring Coen Brothers or Terry Gilliam on to make a guest episode !!
Too funny! (But I'll allow it [que: tense music/fade to black])
The biggest twist... James Corden still has a talk show?
You will not plant your eggs in my brain!
I 100%....
WOULD WATCH THIS MOVIE TAKE MY MONEY
Next one with Michael Bay, Stephen just fucking explodes!
