- Now in its third year, Seattle Symphony's critically acclaimed Sonic Evolution project creates a bridge between the Symphony and Seattle's storied reputation as launching pad for some of the most creative musicians on the popular music scene. Each year, in celebration of the past, present and future of our city's musical legacy, Ludovic Morlot and the Seattle Symphony commission world-class composers to write orchestral world premieres inspired by bands and artists that launched from, or are related to, Seattle.
In addition to writing a brand new composition inspired by Seattle's own Sir Mix-A-Lot, composer Gabriel Prokofiev also orchestrated two of the legendary rapper's most famous hits for this year's concert, including "Posse on Broadway," for which Sir Mix-A-Lot joined Ludovic Morlot and the Orchestra on stage at Benaroya Hall.

This has got to be the most epic version of Posse On Broadway I've ever heard....this needs to be re-recorded....
BIG FACTS..
Sir Mix a Lot is a criminally underrated rapper
a professional ?
Facts!!!
You said it brother
Not to mention the artists he brought up with him. Honestly, Scarface, Willy D, and Bushwick might have been better than dude
Hes gotta be in the top 5 underrated rappers of all time
That conductor is so excited to be doing this and having a ball lol
Yup like he said before the second song the conductor is the shiznick.
BIG FACTS ctfu
Violin player : We went to Juliard for this
Bassoonist : Shit slap tho .
😂😂😂
I remember cruising bumping this on my 15" woofers on my slam mini truck back in 1988!
I still bump this today with my 2 12in Rockford Fosgate P2s and a 1000 watt Rockford Fosgate Punch amp.
Gucci Gambino same, Datsun 620
BIg FACTS.them shits still hit hard in any car lol
Hits hard
I had 2 15 behind the back seat of a Daihatsu rocky. It was a real tight fit but I use to bump the shit out of this song. For sure one of the reasons every time someone says something I go huh.
This might get me to attend the symphony more
BIG thumbs up to the orchestra and sir mix alot for doing this!
It's not easy to change words live in an old song, but he did it perfectly. #SirMixALot #Rules
To all youtubers of all races. you have to admit this is awesome. credit to the director of the orchestra
Whaaaaaaaaaaaat!?!? Yo, this is for the real hip hop heads right here. It's 1989 all the way live baby! This is sooooo sick!!!
*1988 LOL (troll face)
This is the dopest shit I have seen in a while. Big ups to ....the Seattle Orchestra!? And Sir Mix a Lot?! Never thought I would ever say that!
This shit made me cry.
In a good way
Adrian Wilson me too!
Lisa Leuthold They need to Rob Base It two.
yes i was waiting for him too lol
You think?
"I got a conductor and a lotta sexy musicians..."
Give it UP for homeboy Mix!!
I read this just before he said it. Lol.
Love how the conductor was having so much fun and the crowds reaction to the regional references
How did I not see this until 2022?
Easily one of the best concerts that I missed. Big Mix fan from day one. This is so slick.
This is AMAZING! This is how you get more people into the symphony!
I was thinking the same thing 🤔
Only Mix-a-lot could bring Broadway to the symphony. “...Picked up the posse on 23rd and Jackson-
headed for the SYMPHONY, yes we're lookin' for some action-...”
I think I was chosen my god to be a member of a posse. Will say we were and still are badasses!
Those strings are EVERYTHING!
I heard it as a child. The union of the two styles was phenomenal. Wonderful!
MIND. BLOWN. A symphony of cool to the nth degree squared.
Props for the riot grrl in black. She knew all the video moves...every lyric. I can just envision her being a first-grade teacher or something. I warned my twins i was gonna do something like this to embarrass them.
Like a BOSS🏆
October 08, 2020. And rewinding over and over to just sing that CORUS!
Why is this my first time seeing this that conductor give him a raise because he got flavor
THAT!! Was just too cool.
Old school Rap with a Symphony??!! DAMN.
If you were not born when this song was released back in 1988 you better ask someone ....
6-7-22 and never seen this before! This rapped!
"Did anyone order a London Symphony Orchestra? Possibly while high? Cypress Hill, I'm looking your direction..."
lmfao
Uh, oh, yeah, we think we did.
Uh, do you know "Insane in the Brain"?
( British accent): We mostly know classical, but we could give it a shot.
( hip-hop beat playing)

Violins LOOVED and the crowd. Idk what to do with myself after that HOT!!!!!!
This should be required of every hip hop artist 🤣😂😂😂 yo, i enjoyed tf out this !
Y'all crazy. The hype man is fire! He's the posse.
Sir Mix-A-Lot is a man of many talents he also goes by the nickname the prime minista and I've had the pleasure of talking to him one night on the CB
On the Super Bowl holding down the NorthWest corner of the map!
You know you’re a great M.C. when your flow has as much rhythm as the beat. You might have been nodding your head before Mixalot came out but once he started spitting you really get head nodding
I can die now. SO EPIC. I grew up to Mix and this just makes my year. POSSE UP!
Now THERE'S something you don't see everyday. That was awesome. 👍
Man! This is so awesome! I can't believe he pulled this off! Getting the cooperation from all of those people is amazing. I LOVE IT!!!
Wow OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I heard this for the first time on 3/30/2022. I hope I can share it on FB!
This sound better than the original.
How did I manage to sleep on this and Baby Got Back with the symphony here until just today (2-10-20)? So glad I stumbled on these symphonic versions. Love Sir Mix-A-Lot.
right. I had just put on new headphones for the first time and was looking for something with a beat to run them through their paces and came here. what a pleasant surprise.
The head set is a Cowin E7 Ace they seam worth the 80 bucks I have a set of the normal E7 already and liked them a lot as well.
This was so cool. MixALot with a symphony and they played it too!!!
I absolutely loved this! Orchestra you were great!
Damn I sure love Seattle! And sir mix a lot
this is dope!
Anyone who knows mix a lot , knows he can rap to any beat. Check out square dance rap.
That song is actually sung by Kid Sunsation not Sir Mix A Lot. But he wrote it and it is still a great song same with the buttermilk biscuits song. I always liked Iron man too.
@@jvmiller1995 Kid Sensation was with Mix a Lot during the time of the Swass album, but Mix a Lot performed Square Dance Rap & Buttermilk Biscuits also. I've seen him perform both live. Check out the video also, it was Mix.
@@lonnielongino798 I know all this. But the famous version from the SWASS record that I think of and most of us remeber was Kid Sunsation rapping. That's all I was saying. But I realize Sir mix a lot very much behind the song and preformed it him self too.
I was at the rakim show in San Diego. When the Dj dropped this all the old heads went crazy. It was on after that
Epic Posse on Broadway. Really impressed with the blend. I recognized the chuckle at the beginning... Mike.
