EP. 5 Am I Rue From Euphoria? Childhood OCD & Addiction

- Hello y’all! Welcome to the 5th episode of Ten Years In Bed! Today we delve into the parallels between Rue from Euphoria and my own life. I talk about my childhood OCD diagnosis, what OCD is and how it shows up in my life. I discuss how in childhood I genuinely thought that if I didn’t perform certain actions for a set number of times in a specified amount of time; my mom was going to die. I talk about tapping floor boards and tiles, fortune cookie hockey helmets, tapping my cup thrice before setting it down and more fun little things. We discuss my relapse after getting kicked out of rehab for the first time at 17 and getting fully sober at 19. It was extremely weird going to parties as a sober 19 year old when I had just done a lifetime’s worth of drugs in a few years - surrounded by people who were just starting their drug journeys. Main takeaway; just because you like things clean, doesn’t mean you have OCD. Understand that your words have weight and have the potential to invalidate other people’s debilitating struggles.
Its funny how those OCD habits crop up when you're stressed. For me it has become a good barometer for stress.

wow, I thought I have schizophrenia! it turned out to be OCD (I can not freely take poop without feeling I am shitting on someone or someone is seeing me doing this filthy business, for example). My mum might also have this. She always cleans food excessively. But this might also relate to spiritual sickness...
