Coolest car you've ever built imo. What a beauty, what a sound, and what an engine and chassis combo. Dream car for every old school Toyota fan. Congrats guys, simply awesome.
hakosuka gtr and these are very close. Another car that's coming out is the hyundai n 74
It sounds exactly like I would expect an old Japanese car to sound like but with extra spice, I love it 🤌🏻👏
Indeed :)
200hp and 2,400lbs is a great setup to have fun on back roads and track days. You're gonna love this thing.
You guys rock! Thanks for constantly pumping out gems for us gear-heads
So clean. 200whp is a great sweet spot for this setup.
Rev happy and honestly 200 hp is consistent I think even with say a modern BRZ I think????
I think these weigh something like 2200lbs or so, definitely a solid sporty power to weight ratio.
Connie is some of your best work. Well done and thank you for the videos!
Beamsy sounds soooooooooo good 👍👍
I must admit this car never interested me but this build has been my favorite to follow. I think there is something to be said of being able to follow a custom build from start to finish. Custom paint, a fully custom interior a bunch of custom parts, yeah this build has been totally rad! Very nice job guys!
I love this build so much it feels like it's personal. 😍 I am glad you guys treat MY Connie with the respect she deserves.
The Panic bros were huge contributors on the Cressida forums back in the day. Their knowledge for engine swaps and later on with their wiring services was such a huge help for guys swapping engines.
cars with a forward tilt hood like the datsun z is the jam
that carb tuning was so satisfying.
you can hear the idle get better as you turn the allen key
Tim crushed it with those flares.
What a build!
sound rad
I'm a fan of the A20/A30 Toyota Celica, they looked real tough back in the day!!
It's so nice to see this car put together. And man it looks amazing 🤩. I still remember you and Moose working on it. It was a long time coming but it's worth it. Enjoy
Amazing work. The cool kid at my high school had an early Celica. Always thought they were a great car.
This is up there with the best you guys have done. Nice work. I wonder if playing with the ITB velocity stack height could help the power dip along with the cam timing the tuner worked on already?
Great question, and the answer (based on Panic-Made recently testing a 1" velocity stack spacer) is yes it can. It moves the dip further to the right in the power band and importantly this puts it in a zone where cam tuning can further eliminate that dip, not to mention they gained close to 30-ft/lbs of torque in the midrange with the spacers and some top end power too. We are going to install and retune with these spacers soon.
Any plans for directing cool air to the ITBs? I really learned alot from that S2000 Dyno series. Hope to see it applied here. As a BEAMS owner myself, that iron block is known to run hot and create hot engine bay temps that's not good for intake air. So cool air is definitely recommended.
Yes, we may well build a custom airbox for the ITBs with a fresh air source eventually. This is a forever car for me, so we'll continue to refine it from here. This is really just the starting point for a car that I fully intend to continue developing for many years.
@@speedacademydavethat's great news to our ears. What about the torque dip caused by that exhaust header? Do you plan on doing any revisions to the header design to get rid of that torque dip?
@@aaronbryan5095 from what Mark Panic was explaining to us during the dyno tuning session, the torque dip is a characteristic of this engine and the unique acoustics we have with the 52mm ITBs and our custom header design. He said our torque dip is more pronounced than most of the other Beams he's tuned with their 52mm ITBs, so it seems reasonable to think we could get rid of some of the dip with a different header design, but Mark also said that with their forthcoming 1" velocity stack extensions he's been able to basically eliminate the torque dip because the extensions shift the dip to the right where he can do more cam timing tuning and thus get rid of most if not all of the dip. So we're going to start by re-tuning once we have their extensions on the car and move forward from there. Mark is optimistic we'll get rid of most of the dip and crest 200-whp, so we'll keep you updated on that.
@@speedacademydave 3" exhaust is something I'd definitely consider. Helping that car breath as much as possible. If you ever do a rebuild on the engine. Consider cleaning up the ports and do a gasket match. Dont need to go crazy and enlarge the ports as they already have a great design. Some Cat Cams to retain VVT-i function and you should be golden for a street car.
@@mr.cangieter8758 3" exhaust definitely does make power on these engines, but it also makes them a lot louder. The racer in me wants to power, the old man in me wants the quieter 2.5" setup haha. I do plan to eventually build the spare Beams engine we have with big cams, ported head, higher compression pistons, etc., but that won't be for a few years, I'm sure.
This is your coolest car. Don't get rid of it and keep working on it!
That is a beautiful car. I think this car and the 240sx are what defined the show! What a shame that he 240 is gone :(
It looks so good it gave me the chills 🥶🥶
Love the itbs. They sound great on B-series motors too.
Ahh memmories this brings back for me..... Awesome job on this guys. really love it.
This and the K24 S14 are the 2 best Speed Academy build. I love that street/track and strong NA 4 cylinder kind of build.
What a real thing is beauty! She sounds glorious as well. Awesome build guys
I've been waiting for it to be finalized for so long 😩 it looks so good
that was awesome... can hardly wait for the street pull vid... was kinda halfway expecting you guys to be cheeky and edit in the video of that band playing music, jumping and turning from the old dyno vid...
Love the working gauges. There’s just something about it that….
Very nice!
A true old school with new engine...
She's a beaut! Inspiration for us other 1st gen owners
That is one beautiful Celica!
love how Connie came out you guys pour pure love into this car and made her beautiful as well as sound epic. I look forward to more content with Connie and maybe another "15 day" Build.
You guys make the best car content on RUclips! I love love love these episodes!! Keep similar videos coming. Love the down to earth nature of both of you and just having a crack at it!
Love the @throtl sweater. My two favorite RUclips channels!
Well done boys! This has been so sick. Dp must be exstatic to have his dream into fruition. Y’all are who inspired me to start slowly building my e46 m3
You really nailed it with this one. Everything is so good.
So happy for you Dave, and stoked in general over this build! There's always more work to do but this is a huge milestone. Connie has all the right looks, makes all the right noise, and is going to be a great driver's car. The exhaust sounds great, especially under load. The Panic 52mm ITBs are second to none. It's also wild seeing Connie next to the Tundra.
This car brought me to your channel long time ago and I think it is the most beautiful thing you guys built. Congratulations
That celica Looks beautiful In white I have my car's different Colors but my 80 Corolla hatchback looks beautiful In white.
beautiful, awesome, incredible...I'm so proud of you guys!
Yes!Coolest car you have built!Next is the e46 2jz!But the celica looks soo nice!
fav build on yt
Listen to it sing!!!!! Perfection👌
That is going to be a blast around the track! Dyno curve is perfect for the weight. Nice work!
You guys really did do the celica justice by rebuilding it this way, considering how old it is and the availability of parts. Especially the trim. Beautiful car.
What a great build, it was a fun jouto watch. I really enjoy the in depth builds. Enjoy that beautiful little Celica.
What a great reward for all your hard work and dedication on thos project. Keep up the great work, we'll keep tuning in!
I keep saying over and over on these vids, but this celica is such a beauty! Great work guys! 😍😍😍
Such a lovely build, lads. Wonderful work all around. Hard to believe this build started all those years ago, but it really paid off! Can't wait to see more.
Truly a fantastic car and an amazing build.
...and that sound! So good.
Definitely one of the coolest builds for you guys! More classics would be great.
Look amazing and sound incredible.
I can’t like this video enough. Love, love, love this build!!!
sounds amazing, hearing those ITBs makes me even want sidedrafts more.
I absolutely love how you guys build cars. This one particularly is a beauty! Keep up the excellent content!!
So good to see Connie Celica complete! Feels like yesterday when she arrived in DPs home garage 7,5 years ago! Please offer Moose a ride in this beast!
What a perfect build! You guys really did such an outstanding job. I hope we see more content with this build being adjusted and driven!
I have always loved the 70’s Celica it reminds me of a mini 70’s muscle car , one of my friends used to own one definitely not as nice as this one , but it was a fun car with the stock 20r and a Weber and header
I bet if you throw in a high flow cat, it'll take that exhaust buzz right out. Love that you're finally getting connie sorted DP!
Absolutely beautiful build, just breathtaking. There's nothing better than seeing a vision become reality without (a lot of) compromise.
Love this car. Hope we see it at the track in tons more videos rather than disappearing now the building bit is done.
Absolutely loved this journey.
For me...black out more of behind the grill, accentuates that front end more. And some period jdm bonnet vents above the itb and exhaust would look shmick too.
All that aside, absolutely thrilled to finally see Connie on the rollers. Track action next?
👍🍺
I think you could make a stainless panel for the holes in the filler panel in the front end, so you can have a place to mount the hinges for the aero nose. I really like that thing, it looks great.
Oh my God the car is so calibrated I did not know yoy could go as far as to tune the actual amount of air volume is able to be pulled into each throttle body...
Wow times have changed I've never seen anyone do that before.
But the idle went from sounding very outschool and plumpy. To what sounds so modern and efficient, lol. I just can't believe it.
Really awesome car. I would be so happy to drive that thing. So so so much work... just awesome quality especially the interior.
I just really hope this doesn’t get sold, Great build, you guys!
this car turned out amazing boys
Love this build!
Such a good build !! Can’t wait for shack down on the track !!
My Celica had the good old 18RG, I placed the twin side draught carbies (rejetted) on the motor, all I can say is when your intake is louder than your exhaust, you know you are on a good thing.
I wish this series got more views. It's probably my favorite build you guys have done!
She’s a beauty. Congratulations. 🥳
You can actually hear the intake harmonics bounce twice before they level out. Such is the wonders of helmholz research and quarter wave tuning. Imagine if you Rev it out enough you'll hit another resonance. The F1 guys hit 6 on the way up to to 15000 rpm
Wow ! This car came out absolutely phenomenal
Gorgeous car
That’s going to be a fun car to drive with that power
Great work guys
I absolutely love this car and how it came out. Good job SA
That oil dipstick almost jumped out. Literally
looks so nice love the car, the content, and the effort !!
Well done!!
Far and away your best build. I love everything about Connie!
Looking good guys! Love the progress and that's impressive! Can't wait to see it in the flesh! Come to the California shows!
This car looks and sounds amazing !!!!! Congratulations!!
PT needs get an Iain Tyrell piece of hose pipe :). Great car, great sound, no dyno required. Engine bay looks amazing.
Congrats, car is mad nice, loving the build from beginning to this point. I remember my brother and his friend both had one of these white and a red one iirc always my favorite celica, shout out from Jamaica 🇯🇲
Hell yea I'm stoked beamsy came out so incredibly beautiful i love it the fitment and everything just all ties together so well great job guys ❤
Cool explanation of tuning the intakes. Glad I’m not the only on that always seems to have coolant leaks. Cooling systems in cars are like plumbing in houses, just look at them and they leak! 😂.
Quantum leaks.
Idk man to be honest I like it better with the front cover to bad you don't have the jdm filler panel. It's such and amazing build street banditos did a great job. You guys all did an amazing job putting the Celica together. That beams engine 👌
Super tidy! Beautiful work guys!
Oh man that thing is just pure and beautiful...
Amazing work! Sad to see this one done, but very excited for what is next!
Damn, it looks and sounds soo good! Great work DP and PT.
Great build. Congratulations
I'm super happy for you 😊
Super cool build!
I enjoyed watching this series… thank 👍👍👍
Loved the project, i shared this with my dad who still miss his Celica. Sadly he sold it to build a house when i was close to born on the early 80s.
I must say i've been a huge, huge fan of the channel and specially of the builds you guys have made and always loved the wheel choices, but this time i totally not like them and i think that's probably because they're too "old school" for my tastes.
amazing build, i want one badly lmao
Great Job Gentleman!!
