Thanks, Dr. Segal. I love the idea of happy self/happy life. Also, breaking down old adages as you did, is such a great way to peel away the layers of bias that we all live with. I love how you did that.
This saying intrigued me, so I searched for its origins, and it goes far back before the early or mid 1900s in the U.S. 1 Paul 3:7 states " ... husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, ...". I think our relatively more recent use of that advice is based as much on power imbalance as gender roles. Regardless, I appreciate how succinctly you explained the concept of outwardly versus inwardly originated happiness irrespective of relationship status. Signed, a childless cat lady with numerous happy male and female two-legged friends.
It would be hard to be happy in a marriage if your partner is unhappy, notwithstanding one’s happiness with themselves. “It takes two to tango,” as my grandmother used to say.
Thank you Dr Segal. I’m enjoying a happy day. I wish the same for you.

Thank you Dr. Segal. These make me really stop and think. 🤔
This is more relevant today than the day it was uploaded. Thank you, Doctor Segal.
This is very deep Harry.🦋 For some reason, for me, Happiness is entwined somehow with Goodness.
