I remember reading that the intakes on the RS were half the size of the ones on the Panigale, and I was really hoping someone would try out Panigale intakes! Can't wait for that video.
I couldn't justify the upgrade from my V4 Pikes Peak with the full race exhaust. I test rode the RS with the full race exhaust yesterday. The RS is faster, but it wasn't significantly faster than my Pikes Peak, in regards to hooligan riding. To be fair, I also rev'd the bike as if it were my Pikes Peak, even though it has higher rev limits. I stand at 6'7" and weigh 235 ibs. The bike is very comfortable.
Thanks for the video Just at 8k miles on my RS here in the US. While I do miss torque of the old twin. I can’t get enough of the top speed of mine and to listen to that intake breath is begging me to lose my license. compared to my street fighter. It’s a little more tame. But so far, I haven’t found a bike. I can’t catch in the twisties. I’d love to see your new videos, you guys putting these intakes in. I’m still all stock may go for the exhaust…. I keep an eye on your site. Keep it up !!!
Very good point Kal. We should have mentioned this in the video. Considering the initial purchase price the BMW definitely is the better buy. However when you factor in depreciation costs over the first 3 years it becomes a different story. But then you would also have to factor in the service costs etc. Our Pikes Peak depreciated so little over 18 months. We're hoping the RS does the same. We'll get a calculator out and bring you the math in volume 2.
Yes, the software on the bike is still compromised by Euro 5 emission. The bike can be vastly improved with a remap due to the heavy Euro 5 restrictions that are on there.
Real world, usable power is the only thing that needs to be understood... Peak power is simply bragging down the pub. For me, the ducati is the bike out of those two. The BMW was just too big for me...
@ the BMW doesn’t even have panniers for touring, but they try to sell it as a sport tourer, so yes, you really dont know what a sports tourer is!!! Cheers

Thanks for posting this. I'm underwhelmed by my stock RS (coming from a SFv4s) and most definitely need to get it mapped.
That's an amazing video.
Very rare this knowledge to be shared, thanks a lot!
Cool comparison and data:)
What is the most restrictive part on the M1000xr after it has been mapped? I guess the Cat?
Thanks for the video

Glad you're enjoying the RS as much as we are! Much more development to be done on this bike yet!
Do you think it’s possible to reverse the mechanical & electronic de-tuning that Ducati did to the RS??
I will be waiting your changes so I can make them on RS
Price wise I’d take the beema

It will be interesting to see comparisons to ktm superduke GT 1390
Agreed. The new one looks amazing. I like the XR…. But damn…. 30k. And a twin feels soo good in the road. Love my 1290.
Let's see how soon can KTM actually bring it to market considering the situation they're in.
I have the racing exhaust from Ducati. Are you saying that my bike is still being restricted by Euro 5. It has no cat on it...?
Yes because it’s the intake they have restricted. So a new intake along with a hardwired remap and your good to go.
@@communistgreyman2078 Wonder if you can just put a Pannigale v4 or Streetfighter intake on it?

Lucky the BMW still has more torque and power in the "usable range" even after mapping
The BMW M1000XR is a naked bike and has no touring capabilities. It should be compared to the street fighter…………………
The M 1000 Rand S1000R and the naked versions.
Wow you really don't know your bikes
