While I was a little late to the premiere, I loved Shin Ultraman, and it's now one of my favorite portrayals of Ultraman. I'd totally watch a TV show with the new SSSP
I love that Shin Ultraman has Ultraman not fuse with a human but replaces him and learns to grow and care for humanity, which, if intentional or not, kind of mirrors the 70s anime adaptation of Devilman. Where instead of Akira fusing with the demon Amon, Akira dies and Amon posses his body and grows to care for and fight for humanity.
For me, Mephilas really nailed it on screen by casting Yamamoto Koji (Kamen Rider Type-1, Hiden Soreo from Zero One) in the role, just blew me away. There's also Nishijima Hidetoshi who would go on to be Kotaro in Black Sun, really fit the part as Captain Tamura.
This film was spectacular. As someone burnt out from entertainment, Shin Ultraman felt like a breath of fresh air. Characters, cinematography, writing, it's oozing with personality. It's rare that fiction leaves such an impression on me. Mefilas especially stands out. He does the suave, gentlemanly villain perfectly. I also like how he functions as a foil to Ultraman. Whereas Ultraman acts as a benevolent "shepherd," guiding humanity on straight and narrow, Mefilas taps into humans' selfishness and fear and believes in their potential for chaos.
I completely agree with you and I feel the exact same way. As someone who’s also a bit jaded with modern media entertainment, I not only found Shin Ultraman to be a breath of fresh air when it comes to the Superhero, Giant Kaiju, and science fiction genre in general, but as someone who is very familiar with the original 1960s series and all of its subsequent sequels, spin-offs, and reboots, the Shin Ultraman movie is a masterfully crafted love letter to the entire Ultraman Mythos. The visual effects, special effects, and action sequences are absolutely outstanding. Anyone who’s a fan of Ultraman or Giant Kaiju, will love this movie. With all that being said I seriously hope we get an official sequel or a major crossover style film that sees Ultraman, his rogues gallery, Godzilla, and all of his most famous adversaries in one giant full length feature film where the stakes couldn’t get any higher. Even if that never happens, I’ll remain very content with just the Shin Ultraman and Shin Godzilla movies but one can hope right!?
@@archangel5627 There will be no sequel, this was flop! The problem was that they tried to recreate the first series, shot by shot and not try something new like Shin Godzilla. I don't have anything personal against Ultraman but the junk they put on tv for children to watch puts it on the lowest level of live action entertainment. This movie did nothing to bring new live to the franchise.
Straight facts. I'm so glad that shin Ultraman is getting the recognition it deserves! From getting nominated as best film for the 46th Japan academy film prize awards, To grossing $34.4 million world wide, making it the sixth highest-grossing Japanese film of 2022! Truly a spectacle of a film, so excited for shin Kamen rider!
The best part about this movie besides Mephiles is Zoffy's character. He isn't the villain. He's just doing his job. He was enforcing what he was told to do by sending out Zetton. It's only when Ultraman convinces Zoffy to let him go and sacrifice his life that he realizes what he tried to do was wrong. We didn't need a dramatic fight between the two Ultras. The fight was won with reason.
I’d say both give off a sense of hope. Shin Godzilla shows us even in the most darkest times, humanity can come together and overcome any challenge. Shin Ultraman is essentially hope incarnate but of course thinks on how much he should actually do. Give too much and humanity gets dependent, give too little and they loose hope. Which is why he gives earth the means to do things by themselves. When you do things right, people won’t be sure you’ve done anything at all
@@maneoj46 I think both movies serve to push the message of unity and humanity coming together against a common enemy, only in shin godzilla they have to purely rely on themselves against a overwhelming enemy and in shin ultraman they have someone else guiding them to the right path.
@projekttaku1 Shin Gojira is about criticism of the Japanese government and how its too slow to react, and its leaders are too scared because they put too much pressure on themselves when it comes to failure. It says that hope and the power to adapt can often come from the misfits and neglected within our own ranks - the normal people can often rise up and do what the leadership is too paralyzed to do.
@@annoying_HK_guy In my opinion, Anno is no longer able to understand shinji. He's not lonely anymore. Beside, he need evangelion to gain money so he can save anime's i.p. from gainax.

Shin Ultraman is definitely how a film is truly "made for the modern audience". Mainly because its made by actual true blooded fans of the original Ultraman. I've always loathe those words coming from franchise hijackers that secretly hate the source material they're working on, but for this movie specifically I can't put a more succinct way of describing it. You can just feel the sincerity and love the creators have for the OG series and how they translate it into each scene. The messages that films portrays are also very positive and timely, especially in these dystopian times we're living in.

Love your analysis videos! Keep it up man!🔥🔥 Also idk if you had already seen the film months beforehand, but in case if you waited until people in the states had a chance to watch it themselves to make this video I appreciate it haha
Among countless of "switch your brain off" movies and shows recently, this movie was spectacular. I love Ultraman as a kid but I was too young to know those meaning and perhaps too dumb, I'm glad to be able to now fully comprehend it now. Those meaning, the characters and the themes got me really hooked.
I still can remember the feeling when I watched it in the cinema. I was in awe. Complicated but simple. Happy but also sad. Heartwrenching but heartwarming. Funny at times, but also so serious. It contains many paradoxes. In fact I still processing the meaning until today. For me, Shin Ultraman is a story of faith in humanity restored. Along with it's philosophy, the CGI and fighting scenes are also gorgeous. Shin Ultraman is a masterpiece that will long remembered.
LOVED Shin Ultraman! While the story and characters weren’t as good as in Shin Godzilla IMO (and yes, Ultraman felt a little rushed), overall I loved every bit of it. The old school music and homages were fantastic, and the effects and cinematography were done beautifully. Can’t wait to own it on physical media. The fight against Gabora was my favorite scene.
II'm glad I wasn't the only one comparing this movie to Man of Steel of all things. Shin Ultraman has what that movie never had, love for its characters, love for its audience, love for humanity.
@@jackie8449 Man of Steel is garbage from a miserable man who once released fascist propaganda into theaters. Shin Ultraman gives hope to humanity by reminding us we work better together, not against one another.
@@EmonWBKstudios Yea fairly sure that was the message behind MoS. The human governments distrusted Superman even though they should have trusted him. Superman wanted the Kryptonians to do that too but they refused to listen to him. That movie is anything but garbage. Shin Ultraman is nowhere near as good as it.
Beautiful video highlighting the best parts of what might just be my favorite film, as a gigantic fan of Ultraman, I'm always awed and humbled by the main message and hope this film gives, and how well it has an understanding of Ultraman. It's intepretation of the original character is so fitting and so powerful, and the ending never fails to make me feel all kinds of emotions. Thank you so much for highlighting everything beautiful about this film in your video, you did an amazing job with it!
For me, Shin Ultraman was well worth the wait! I'm glad to see it do well in Japan and in the U.S.! I appreciate your thoughtful analysis of the movie.
I made a good move rewatching all of the original 1966 Ultraman from beginning to end, to prep for Shin Ultraman. Although it has some of its own modern twists and flavor (like removing the grunts which I kinda don’t like but oh well) the movie did an amazing job going over the highlights of the original series’s plot. It also takes a lot from so many other Ultraman media such as the anime OVA, the misprint, and Narita’s original artwork. It’s truly a love letter made by fans, for the fans.
Shin Ultraman is the most enjoyable cinema experience I had in 2022. I tried bring some friends to watch it, but most of them don't quite get it as they struggle to follow the plot of the movie. Only my brother fully resonanted with the movie like me.
It was crazy nostalgic to see Ultraman through the modern lens, from people behind Eva and Shin Gojira, no less. I would've liked if they added the legacy sounds of the og grunts and if they had more time to flesh out the story, but overall I enjoyed it immensely and loved the hopeful and optimistic themes akin to Superman. Can't wait for Shin Kamen Rider, for sure. I wonder if they're making something big with these Shin films, or if they'll continue to revitalize Japanese cultural icons like Super Sentai materials
I hope my comment doesnt feel rude, I love your channel and i just have a critique to make. If you read this in the first place I thank you deeply. I rented this film from the sitges film festival website (which is super rare but it is another story). I loved shin godzilla. I gotta say that while i understand everything you say and your love for the movie. I disagree in one fundamental principle: it is a problem that the episodic nature of the preserved source material feels evident. It is a disjointed movie that goes too fast from thing to thing. The final message is beautiful and it does land well but the whole movie should have been about it in the first place. It diminished my hopes for Kamen Rider, because i cannot watch dozens of episodes from the 60s to feel engaged to something I wanna watch. I also felt Anno changes shots too fast ala evangelion, not letting actors flow. He totally wasted the drive my car dude. He is not studying filmmaking from film itself and that is a problem. But again, Shin Godzilla is a movie that I absolutely adore. If you read this far thanks again. You are a pro and I feel lucky to have found your channel
Watching this make me wonder how Shin kamen rider is going to be? Based on the trailer and the Shocker side manga, spider man, bat man, bee woman and presumably scorpion man are in the movie so they are adapting ep 1,2,3 and 8 and along with introducing ichimonji so they could adapt bits of ep 14 and 15
I don't quite think it falls short of Shin Godzilla by any extent, I think it was more a matter of the two having very different things to convey to the audience. Overall I think it stands as probably the best way to modernize the original concept of the first series and still give it its own identity.
I was utterly delighted by the show, couldn't help by clap at some of the sound effects, and I had a smile on from the amazing open to the end. It was a great experience for a long time fan. A great story and lots of call backs. I brought my wife, who has seen several kaiju movies with me, but hadn't seen any Ultraman (she doesn't care for superheroes much). Afterwards she said it was her favorite kaiju film, even better han Shin Godzilla (a movie she'll put on for background entertainment when we're gaming or painting). She asked when it would be on blue ray as we were walking out. That's high praise from her.
I'm happy I was able to watch the movie. I hope Shin Ultraman succeeds in the west and leads to people picking up the show to fully grasp Ultramans positive messages!
Great video dude. Love that you showed all the shot for shot comparisons. I didn't have the patience to try and find all of those for my review last year. Fantastic work.
I felt that the movie was somewhat rushed. Too much happened in such a short time, so the pacing was scary fast. And even if the 1966 effects are not holding up well these days, I would say that the CGI in Shin Gojira holds up much better than the Shin Ultraman CGI, which already feels dated. I think they tried to do too much in such a short time. Imagine if The entire Gamera trilogy, happened in under 2 hours. It felt a bit like those anime recap films, that condense 12 or more episodes into 90 minutes. I see the the themes and ideas at display, but Shin Gojira set the bar so high, that I feel like this movie neede a few more layers of polish, or an extra movie or two. Also, last time you talked about Ultraman, you were half way through Leo, and now you are showing clips from Tiga and Mebius. Did you already watch all those shows? Would love to hear some thoughts on stuff like Leo's finale, Gaia, Nexus and Mebius.
Same here, Shin Ultraman introduced me to so much media besides anime in japan and went to see Shin Kamen Rider a couple months later after watching the original series. Honestly I'm so glad that the Shin series was started because having now watched Ultra Q and Ultraman it makes me love Shin Ultraman that much more. It was the right film at the right time.
Shin Ultraman is……strange for a remake The plot are, undoubtedly very cramped, yet feel natural despite being too fast It's definitely something come from OG TV show, but doesn't meant is focus on kids The only regret are why human is worth saving,if most of them are power hungry and selfish? Adding 20 more mintues for Ripia learning the beauty of humanity from SSSP would have been better I will give it a 8.7/10,the CGI are superb in Tokusatsu industry, while retains the feel from OG show in modern setting I am definitely waiting Shin Ultraseven or Return(Anno favorite show)
I’d love to see a sequel to Shin Ultraman! Having this be my first exposure to the franchise was amazing and I’d love to see the story continue. The ending really felt open for more to me.
Nicely done. I thoroughly enjoyed the film. The film took me back to a 6 year old me watching this and Space Giants in rural New Jersey, 50 plus years ago. Some of the callback elements really moved me. I went in hoping for some references to Susumu Kurobe, and the Alien Baltan. When the credits ran, I found that I didn't miss them at all. Have a good evening.
I loved Shin Ultraman more in hindsight simply because the polish works really well with the legit unrealism of CGI special effects. If anything the feeling of Ultraman's precise and stilled movements combined with his size gives him such a distinct uncanny look in his movements. And that is far more appealing that the rotten noisy effects of most modern blockbusters. If anything Shin Ultraman shows you that operating on limitations can bring out better aesthetics and pacing. Because I'm not sure what else could have been added to such a well paced and emotional film.
I absolutely freakin' love that Shin Gomess' CG model was actually a "recycled" CG model of Shin Godzilla in reference to the fact that the original Gomess suit was a modified Godzilla MosuGoji suit.
I have mixed thoughts of the movie....I honestly thought too much was crammed into the movie to have proper emotional stake etc. especially early on with Ultraman's introduction, everything just felt like exposition and set up. I thought the whole segment about alien invasion felt a bit more cohesive, I thought finally the movie was getting coalesced into something tangible with themes...but then finale happened with just action after action, I felt the movie just tried to do too much within short amount of time while leaving enough fluffiness that OG Ultraman had. I guess it was fun but at the same time, it just felt like fluffy spectacle
@@jackdarrow3011 yeah that romance was pretty undercooked....sort of took me off of the movie, like, why does Takumi Saito likes Masami Nagasawa all the sudden? (also its a bad sign I cant remember character's names, I only know actors' names mostly lol).

I loved it. I enjoyed all of the fights, though I think my favorite has to be against Alien Zarab. Shin Ultraman was amazing to see up on the big screen. If it would be handled with just as much care as the original, I'd love to see a sequel. I would just hope that the scope of the film could be bigger.
It was so much fun to see the Fathom event. I felt like a kid again seeing the update to the fights and effects and an adult with the themes explored and take on the story. Great film. Thank you for the review.
The idea of Ultraman being a god is an interesting one in the context of the series' connections to Christianity. There is the insistence in Christian theology that Christ is both all god and all man. But this raises the question that if Christ is God and God is omniscient, why did Christ only give us this love-thy-neighbor spiel when he could have given us penicillin, or the internal combustion engine, or the Haber process? Besides any criticism of the failure of technological progress, the actual reason Jesus couldn't have given humanity this information is because he didn't know and specifically renounced his divine powers when he came into the world . . . this did not include the ability to walk on water or turn it into wine, but without even consulting any sources we can say assume this is actually the work of God the Father and Christ is simply calling in a favor as the boss's son. So in principle he isn't doing anything a human being couldn't if they were pious and had enough favor with the Lord. The only reason Jesus even knows that he's God and all of the teachings he comes out with is because the angels help him out with all the technical stuff. But Jesus does in fact effect a transformation of the cosmos that saves all of humanity. How exactly this works is somewhat hazy in terms of how the gospels are normally interpreted, but it seems to refer back to the ideas of original sin and Israel as God's chosen people; whereas before only Jews loyal to God could be saved, now this possibility of salvation is open to everyone; as though Jesus undid original sin by his sacrifice. While this makes some sense, humanity doesn't look particularly saved if you just look around. Life is still fraught with problems. However, in a more esoteric interpretation of the Bible, the good news is not that you are supposed to imitate an example that cannot be imitated by definition but that you really are as much a son of God as Jesus was -- which, as we have just explored, is entirely consistent with the idea that Jesus couldn't actually perform miracles under his own power. (This comes out in the more sophisticated teachings in the Gospel of Saint John) So we are "saved" in the sense that consciousness has been granted the potential to recognize itself as divine and eternal, thus making salvation in the hitherto understood sense unnecessary. Jesus does not save people by fixing the world but by granting others the choice to save themselves (although implicit to the understanding that everyone is a son of God is that everyone is saved even in their ignorance and non-salvation. It is like the Hindu idea that the world is the dance of the godhead and therefore one with it.) This is what Shinji does during the _End of Evangelion_ by granting all human beings the choice to dwell in instrumentality or return to life on Earth.
The best adaptation of any classic series. It feels different and yet familiar. Very glad they kept the music and SFX and also recreated a lot of the scene. And yeah, the transformation at the end feels as exciting as when i feel as 4 years old. Lack of shuwatch was a pity but, i was just too happy with such faithful adaptation that still captures the excitement of the original series. 9.5/10
Can't wait to see how they tackle shin man and hopefully redeem him from becoming somewhat of a joke like the original. And how could I forget, the shear HYPE that's going to come when ultra seven gets announced. Can't wait to see modern eye slugger in action and the CAPSULE MONSTERS HOW COULD I FORGOT THE ORIGINAL CAPSULE MONSTERS?!! SEVEN IS GOING TO BE SUCH A CHAD I JUST KNEW IT!
Yeah the main issue with the movie is how it tried to fit too many things in a short time, and those camera angles keep making me say "am I watching Evangelion again with these low angle shots?" Ideally the pacing would be great for duology so some stuff could still be expanded without overstaying its welcome, but I guess Anno only had this one chance so he had to put all the eggs in one basket.
This video brings to mind a moment from Ultraman Saga, during the final battle between Saga and Hyper Zetton. Saga is a miracle fusion of three Ultramen from different backgrounds, and Hyper Zetton is an artificial god created from the sacrifices of thousands of people. As the fight goes on, humanity flies in, and says: "Ultraman, we believe in you, do you believe in us?" And the response is: "I always have."
As much as I love the Ultraman franchise, I’m usually not the biggest fan of whenever it tries to reimagine itself for an older/international audience (i.e: Ultraman: The Next, the Marvel comics, the Netflix anime). Even when they maintain the themes and morals of the classic shows, the content around them feels more like generic, modern sci-fi action media to me - as if they feel the need to hide behind those qualities because they’re afraid people might laugh at the “cheesiness” of its older self. But, this time, it feels different. Higuchi and Anno found a way to ground Ultraman in reality without sacrificing the style and energy that made the best Showa Ultraman content pop while adding the right amount of nuance. It overdoes the Jissoji-esque cinematography in places and I would prefer a mix of traditional Tokusatsu with the CGI rather than just full-on embrace the latter, but at the end of the day, this movie absolutely FELT like classic Ultraman in all its wonderfully off-beat glory.
It was an awesome movie. I'm not well versed on Ultraman's lore, but I could feel the deep respect for the character, story, ideas and craftsmanship of the original. Wonderful.
I'm not super fond of Ultraman. As a huge fan of kaiju it actually makes me sad that I have difficulty enjoying the shows. Having watched all of the original, Tiga, and much of Ultraseven, I can safely say that it doesn't quite connect for me. BUT... I loved Shin Ultraman. This movie was fantastic, and I'd be happy to see more like it.
This movie truly reinvented Ultraman in a way that I needed. The CGI was fantastic, and the action delivered to my expectations. I also notice that Ultraman's human form is similar to Ultraseven's and Mebius'. There's normally a duality between Ultraman and his human form, but this time it was just Ultraman being fully conscious. That sounds about interesting. I would love to see a sequel to this movie, and I wonder what other Ultramen can be reinvented in that movie's universe.
Being old enough to have experienced the original Ultraman series in the early 70's, along with Johnny Sokko and his Flying Robot, I was a very young impressionable kid that just fell in love with these shows. Then later in my adult life, I managed to watch every series and episode of Ultraman up to Ultraman Blazar; many of which I have in my personal DVD collection. I have yet to lose interest and optimism for the direction of the Ultraman TV shows and movies. Even Shin Ultraman made me feel like a kid again, including the reference back to Ultra Q -- I absolutely loved it all. Yes, there are little things about many of the shows I could pick at, but nothing I'd care to share; they're just personal issues I have with some little things. But ultimately, I focus my attention to the show as whole and as an enjoyable story that brings me incredible joy and happiness. I tend to spend very little of my time focusing on the periphery; set designs, costumes, characters, etc., to pick at, such as, I am not a fan of CG but love Live Action most of all ...I still just simply love the shows. I am now going through each and every series and episode of Kamen Rider and Super Sentai Ranger as well; two more shows I have absolute love for, and most of which I did not have available in my childhood, but now I have them all in my collection, I get to enjoy them all as well. I just love Toei for all they've done in making wonderful shows... to me, Toei is a blessing for my life, so many wonderful series beyond Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, and Ultraman. But to me, Ultraman is important beyond a show, it is a spiritual journey of perseverance of finding value in life, it is of always about supporting the ideal of respecting and protecting nature, earth and life for the sake of humanity and hope -- hope for a better and safer future for all.
Well done man. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. The music was great. The shots were great. The pacing was a bit much at times. But themes were great. My favorite scene is where Mephilas and Ultraman are talking on the swings. I really enjoyed all the fights. Can’t wait to buy it when it comes out.
Shin Ultraman is currently my favorite movie of all time. As a massive Showa fanboy, I was reduced to a cackling, euphoric mess every time a classic ‘66 scene was referenced. It also helped that I was probably the only person in that theater so I could mimic every iconic grunt, screech, and roar to my heart’s content. (Zetton’s is my favorite, despite it just saying its name repeatedly) The visuals, the characters, the dialogue, the action; it was everything I could have dreamed a high-budget reboot could be and more.
My 2 favorite shows as a kid Ultraman and Mazinger . Not just the shows either , the toys they had back in the 70's from the shows were awesome . 3 foot tall robots with spring loaded fists , the 6 inch all metal action figures with spring loaded fists . Watching Shin Ultraman brought back so many memories .
So the only Ultraman thing I have seen is the Netflix show(which I enjoyed) but other than that new very little about the character or mythos. I definitely enjoyed the film as it's on thing, and after this video I have a greater appreciation for it. I was initially thrown off by the pacing like all these alien invasions one after another and I feel as you mentioned it could have used some time to breathe. However, I still thought it was a great time and the character of Ultraman himself in this I was fully invested in and definitely noticed some Christian allegories mixed in. The supporting cast was also great and the cinematography and fights we're very well done. I'm definitely more curious to check out more of this franchise after seeing this film and your videos on the subject. I was recommended your channel for your Godzilla videos but stayed for your analysis and appreciation for this genre as a whole. Keep up the great work and hope you have a wonderful 2023.
I think Ultramen series were closer to the hearts of Japanese people and the fans all over the World when compared to Godzilla series. This is because Godzilla was born from fear of the atomic bomb and the capacity of humans to bring destruction to the World and society. BUT Ultraman series was born (like the early days Superman movies) that humanity itself has a great potential to do good (and evil) but merely lacking in the drive to do it. That message kept on repeating as plot in the first Ultraman TV show as well as up to Ultraman Mebius (2006 - 2007).
I feel like this is the movie that Snyder was trying to make, but Hideaki Anno actually have the political knowledge to executed and making intriguing The book we see Ultraman reading to understand society its a Levi Strauss Book, a classical Anthropologist Not a fiction book like Atlas Shrugged
Anyone who openly criticized Shin Ultraman for not being some kind of high avant-garde piece is a complete moron. A movie like this is meant to be taken at face value and as a very entertaining piece of science fiction action. If anything, I commend the filmmakers for trying to humanize Ultraman and give him a lot more depth to his character especially when comparing him to the original series of the 1960s. Furthermore and simply put, if you didn’t like this movie than you were NOT it’s target audience. Again, anyone looking for Shakespearean cinema in an Ultraman movie is barking up the wrong tree. I hate to sound so harsh in saying that but I simply can’t understand why anyone would expect anything more or less from a movie like this. If you love Ultraman and Giant Kaiju Monster films than you’ll love this. At the end of the day this movie is a huge love letter to the original tv show. Anyone looking outside of that has completely missed the point of the movie.

Shinji does die here but Ultraman still fused with him. Then gave his life for him to return of course.
Also feel like Ultraseven
Who just replaced dead person
For me, Mephilas really nailed it on screen by casting Yamamoto Koji (Kamen Rider Type-1, Hiden Soreo from Zero One) in the role, just blew me away. There's also Nishijima Hidetoshi who would go on to be Kotaro in Black Sun, really fit the part as Captain Tamura.
Nice to see that actor in a reboot that actually respects its source material and isn't obnoxious edge.
Yamamoto and Nishijima got alot of request to act in tokusatsu. And i really love it
The entire movie I was like, "Is that Kotaro?" and it was.
for me i was like "isn't that guy from Lost Judgment?!"
@@GamerConnoisseurRei its Last Judgement. But imma let it slide since you also watch amazons
We must have not watched the same movie. Terrible movie beyond belief. It was a condensed story with a terrible ending.

I personally prefer Shin Ultraman over Shin Godzilla, and I absolutely love the positive themes of the film that we need in this day and age
still better shin Godzilla CG for me more enjoying especially the laser things that show from Godzilla back.
@@jackdarrow3011 and Shin Godzilla is feel different than Original Godzilla 54. That's way Shin Godzilla is better.
I just love that Anno put more heart into Shin Ultraman than Evangelion.

You still remain to be one of the channels where whenever a new video alert drops I either drop what I’m already watching on RUclips or put time aside to really sit and watch your stuff lol. Love your analysis videos! Keep it up man!🔥🔥
Also idk if you had already seen the film months beforehand, but in case if you waited until people in the states had a chance to watch it themselves to make this video I appreciate it haha
Bc MOS is a character study of Clark Kent.
@@jackie8449 ehhh

I loved it. I especially loved the reference to Ultra Q in the intro.
What does it take from the Ultraman OVA?
I would definitely be interested in a Shin Ultraman and a Shin Ultraseven team up.
and shin ultraman ace
Also Shin Ultraman Taro, Shin Ultra Father,Ultra Mother ,and of course Shin Ultra King
I love how this movie is more than just a remake of original series. The fact that they went with original design.
I love the movie and I really love the Kenshi Yonezu's theme for the movie.
I wonder if they're making something big with these Shin films, or if they'll continue to revitalize Japanese cultural icons like Super Sentai materials
the superman themes are very fitting when you consider that shin ultraman's design is based on a ultraman painting called "truth, justice and beauty."
I got to see this in theaters and everyone was laughing hysterically at the “scent” scene. It was a good time!
I'd never seen any Ultraman before watching this movie and it absolutely blew me away. 5/5
Shin Ultraman is……strange for a remake
The plot are, undoubtedly very cramped, yet feel natural despite being too fast
It's definitely something come from OG TV show, but doesn't meant is focus on kids
The only regret are why human is worth saving,if most of them are power hungry and selfish?
Adding 20 more mintues for Ripia learning the beauty of humanity from SSSP would have been better
I will give it a 8.7/10,the CGI are superb in Tokusatsu industry, while retains the feel from OG show in modern setting
I am definitely waiting Shin Ultraseven or Return(Anno favorite show)
This is how you give nostalgia in a remake/adaptation movie. Hollywood, take notes!
I’d love to see a sequel to Shin Ultraman! Having this be my first exposure to the franchise was amazing and I’d love to see the story continue. The ending really felt open for more to me.
Shin Ultraseven.
I guess it was fun but at the same time, it just felt like fluffy spectacle
the ultraman human host relations with the girl is also weird for me. suddenly getting closer to him.
@@jackdarrow3011 yeah that romance was pretty undercooked....sort of took me off of the movie, like, why does Takumi Saito likes Masami Nagasawa all the sudden? (also its a bad sign I cant remember character's names, I only know actors' names mostly lol).

There should be a reason ultraman does a cross.
Loved this movie, it was everything I wanted. My favorite scene is the bar scene between Ultraman and Mephilas.
I love Shin Traman, it was movie of the year. So hyped for Shin Men Rider
It is like the Hindu idea that the world is the dance of the godhead and therefore one with it.)
This is what Shinji does during the _End of Evangelion_ by granting all human beings the choice to dwell in instrumentality or return to life on Earth.
This video legitimately helped cure my depression, perfect essay on a perfect film
Yeah the main issue with the movie is how it tried to fit too many things in a short time, and those camera angles keep making me say "am I watching Evangelion again with these low angle shots?"
Ideally the pacing would be great for duology so some stuff could still be expanded without overstaying its welcome, but I guess Anno only had this one chance so he had to put all the eggs in one basket.
This video brings to mind a moment from Ultraman Saga, during the final battle between Saga and Hyper Zetton. Saga is a miracle fusion of three Ultramen from different backgrounds, and Hyper Zetton is an artificial god created from the sacrifices of thousands of people. As the fight goes on, humanity flies in, and says:
"Ultraman, we believe in you, do you believe in us?"
And the response is:
"I always have."
Wonderful.
This looks to be a masterpiece. Can't wait to see it 💖
I'm not super fond of Ultraman.

The research in these videos always impresses me
This movie truly reinvented Ultraman in a way that I needed.
I love this movie and loved watching it in theaters.
Can't wait to add it to my Ultraman Media collection and watch it again and again.
14:24 that was a criticism?
Shin Ultraman is currently my favorite movie of all time. As a massive Showa fanboy, I was reduced to a cackling, euphoric mess every time a classic ‘66 scene was referenced. It also helped that I was probably the only person in that theater so I could mimic every iconic grunt, screech, and roar to my heart’s content. (Zetton’s is my favorite, despite it just saying its name repeatedly) The visuals, the characters, the dialogue, the action; it was everything I could have dreamed a high-budget reboot could be and more.
Is this kind of like Shin Godzilla? I love Shin Godzilla!
Hollywood should learn from Japanese when it comes to rebooting a franchise, and not put in all the Woke madness.

The lack of color timer was weird. He more or less had a back fin here. For me the lack of his usual ultra sounds was a put off for me

My only criticism is that Ayatas' character is played too serious, too robotic, his expression never changed.
Because shin version of Hayata is ultraman himself, of course he will be like that, he still learning how human work, their emotion, humor etc

I feel like this is the movie that Snyder was trying to make, but Hideaki Anno actually have the political knowledge to executed and making intriguing
The book we see Ultraman reading to understand society its a Levi Strauss Book, a classical Anthropologist
Not a fiction book like Atlas Shrugged
The CGI is good enough for me
Hollywood with all of its budget for good CGI can't make a decent movie with a good story
Love the movie. I watched it more than 3 times already !
