    Before attaching the fan using the padded collar, a good rule of thumb is to wrap the collar of the filter with quality duct tape. This allows your fitments to be a bit more snug n secure, increasing air tightness, i always loosly wrap duct tape round the collar of my filters, just something i picked up over the last 25 plus years folks.
    When i started their was NO internet, had to buy The Marijuana Growers handbook, by Ed Rosenthal, also a guide by Jorge Cervantes along with a few mags n free copies of soft secrets, but i found it better to follow 1 grower, as every grower has their own way,..some prune fan leaves, some don't, some top, some don't, some SCRog, SEAog, FIM, LST or au Natural,!!
    Best to learn from your own mistakes i say, just one growers IMHO,!! Happy growing,, Scotland UK x

    In some of the first growing books I did read that CAN/Fan is supposed to be at one end so it draws air across all plants. If your in the middle your only drawing air over half the plants.

    The best thing i did about my carbon filtering is that i closed all passive intake openings and now negative pressure is at its best ..plus fan is working harder so air is not going out too fast and makes filter more efficient at eliminating odor

    I'm setting up a grow tent for first time. I currently have the carbon filter hooked up directly to the air flow that is exiting the tent . My question is how does the carbon filter absorb the odor when there is no opening on it to collect odor. The open end is connected to the air flow thing that pushes the air outside the tent? Lol if anyone could understand this an answer would be appreciated. 😊

      hey mate, having the intake filter causes you to be constantly sucking new air in whilst replacing the air in the tent, so theoretically if done correct and it's all spec'd properly, you'd get no smells!
      Top Tip, to achieve negative pressure, go a size down for your intake to maintain correct air movement in the grow space!

      @OneStopGrowShopHydroponics  4 года назад +1

      Hey dude, ideally you'd vent out (to a window maybe?)... you could filter it back into your room, but there's going to be moisture in the air and that can cause mould to build up inside your room mate. You could perhaps run a long length of thick ducting through your flat and into your bathroom maybe (use the vents in the wall?)

    Hi there how's it going? I had a question for you. I do not have much room in my 2 by 2 tent and was wondering if I could put the inline fan on the outside of the tent ducting it into the tent and a separate duct that will let air exhaust out of tent. BTW I'm not going to use a carbon filter. Would this be sufficient? If not what would you recommend?

    • @OneStopGrowShopHydroponics
      @OneStopGrowShopHydroponics  3 года назад

      Hey dude, so you mainly use your extraction to control smells in your grow room, if you don't need to worry about smells, you could place the fan outside and suck the air out rather than blow it out?
      I'd make sure your fan is powerful enough as you'll have more of a load on there as you'd duct from your tent to your fan, and then duct from the other end of the fan outside.
      Let me know if you need anymore information dude!

      Hey! You're quite right, you would have more room in your tent if you do that, but we recommend the setup you've seen because most filters are designed to be sucked through rather than blown through (which can cause issues with back pressure), although if your method works for you that's great! Each setup will be slightly different and the one shown is the most common and easiest way for those looking to start growing.

    I have probably a dumb question. Why are we purifying air that we are pulling out of the grow tent and not they air we allow in? I just trying to understand the process. I feel like this setup pulls the crappy air from inside the tent and the air filter cleans it and then shoots cleaner air out the exhaust pipe. Why don't we instead PULL air into the tent with the purifier so that way the plants have better protection?
    If the filter catches mold and mildew as it pulls the air out of the tent doesn't that mean the filter full with the mold and mildew is sitting right inside the tent?

    • @OneStopGrowShopHydroponics
      @OneStopGrowShopHydroponics  4 года назад +2

      Hey mate, so...
      When setting your extraction up, you want to achieve something called "negative pressure". This makes sure you're pulling more air out of your tent than you're sucking in, and not having any smells leak out of your tent.
      You do it this way is because you want to eliminate all smells from leaking to the outside of your room/tent, so you filter it out (using the carbon filter and extraction system) back into the room with clean air. If you just blew air in, the odours inside the tent would build up and cause you problems with smells.
