also, my F mount japan version is decently sharp on my 45 mpx z9. It's sharper at 2.8 than my 58 1.4g at 1.4 and i find both to have aceptable sharpness even with 1/8 BMP
@@eldengard23 In some uses i like the lens but in others i hate it. I worked on 3 projects using this lens since this video and they all involved high contrast, bright backlit / sky shooting and the flaring and shift in contrast was very annoying. Great lens for certain work but not all. And i have a 50mm 1.4D and yes my Tokina is sharper at 2.8, but stopping them both down to 2.8 the Nikkor is clearly much better image and contrast wise but that's to be expected.
@@kurenceeim talking about 58 1.4G, much more modern and sharper lens than the 50 af-D 1.4 You either have the gen 2 copy with the added asph. Element for marketing purposes that made it softer but with less ca, or you have a bad gen 1 example since the my gen 1 japan market version is quite sharp on my 45mpx z9
@@user-jp3vl5jx1j That's true. It depends what you're pointing at, if you're pointing it near a light source at f2.6 it washes the image hard, and that just comes with the territory of an older lens, CA can be really bad too. And thanks! I appreciate it :)
I got mine from BH photo. They said the elements were clean.. Got it and it was covered in fungus. I took it in to ablecine here in LA they cleaned it up nice. Much sharper at 2.6 I have the 2.6 version..2.8 it's not bad at all.. They gave me a refund of 50 bucks off of $110..I was able to declick it accidentally..
The Nikon 28-70 f2.8 D is awesome, also used in the Bourne film was the 80-200 f2.8 d
Just won the bidding on this lens for €140-shipping included! can't wait to try it out.
Let me know what you think of it!
This the best review I have seen about this lens. He managed to be concise with the info while keeping the energy low key.
Thanks fam
is it better than canon FD 35-105mm f/3.5 ?
idk, I never used that lens but I've heard good things about it.
the only difference between them is the glass. Angionux makes its own glass like Nikon does, while Tokina has external producers like Canon, Sony etc.

There are better and worse copies out there, especially after 30 years. The good ones arent hazy at 2.6. Also, can you do your reviews rapping? Best

These are prone to fungus I had mine cleaned and it's much better
I do see some of these going for very cheap with fungus inside, and aparently its not too difficult to open it up and clean it.
