This Transmission is a CVT, and on other engines that bolt would be an over flow, however on this trans, that is not, Per manual, this engine requires 7 liters of fluid at 100 degrees and level, the dip stick is mopar number 9336, however that would be if you truley drained pan and raplaced filter, only way to do that is to drop and empty the pan, there is another filter inside the pan.
I'm not sure if you check comments still since this video is over 3 years old. BUT, my 2010 Dodge Caliber Mainstreet that I bought brand new, has the same dip stick issue. It is "broken off" at the same location as yours. It could be possible that it was done so by dodge so that the user could not locate the dipstick location and just charge the user for a simple task, or keep the user from doing this out selves.
That transmission on the Dodge caliber is just like the transmissions on the 3 gen Jeep Compass in the jeep patriot in the jeep liberty from 2008to 2012 and those takes 7.4 quarts of CVTF+4 fluid
We just bought an 08 and on our trip back from kentucky the transmission light came on i guess for high temps and on the highway it did not wanna shift at all. I Had to pull over and let it cool off for 20 minutes. Drove home after and no issues that was last night. So why would mine be over heating? The engine temp was steady before halfway mark. I'm new to this ctv stuff. Someone drop me a comment if you know whats up
Brandon Smith could be clogged filters, solenoid, or just was actually overheating. Can add an aftermarket cooler, also did you hearing a winding noise?

Julie Trujillo expect a new transmission soon. Could try to flush it by running and draining fresh fluid through it like 3 times to get an extra oil out
thanks and were there any problems or overheating problems with it after? i just had a trans cooler installed and im wondering if this will help my problem
@@jonathanschmidt417 i measured what was in the trans cold before i drained the pan. That gave me a dip stick full mark as refrence. I bought a 2008 used Caliber and discovered this overheating transmission the hard way. Overheated on me while driving to the airport for a flight. Short of the runway by 14 miles. WTF Dodge? I will not by another CVT transmission car now that I know. $400 freaking green backs to flush. Geez. I ain't got time for this crap.
No car needs a cooler if your not towing . Dipstick on ebay , 8 bucks ........Synthetic fluid if your worried.....Flush ? Drop pan , change filter and oil
@@edocsil1635 ....Transmisson oil runs through part of radiator which is hot enough itself or some cars have a very small cooler from factory . My point is , Why go through all the trouble of adding a larger cooler if your not towing . Drop the pan , Change the filter and add the 5 or six quarts you drained . Never flush the whole system because your just asking for trouble and it's not necessary . Use Full synthetic oil if your worried about oil breaking down or overheating . Now i have a 2000 Ford windstar and i Tow a good size boat so i added 2 aluminum coolers side by side and Full Syn oil . Oil goes into one then the other and back to tranny . Did i need 2 ? Probably not but for the price why not and I had the room for both behind front grill

Absolutely heard a whining noise like it was trying to rev up or shift if that makes sense.
Brandon Smith yeah especially if you do mountain driving. Change the filters n look at after market cooler to install
Yea alot of mountains and hills. Can we do the filter ourselves? Like a regular tranny. And how much is an after market cooler
Would you happen to have a link for the aftermarket cooler?
So the plug on the side is the over flow? Is that confirmed or do I need to buy a dipstick?
I'm not sure but I would love to know as well. Did you ever find out?
What is the right type for the 2008 Dodge Caliber Cvt gear oil?
Can you be more clear on what hose is the supply and return
Good job. Very helpful. Thank you.
How many quarts did you put for the transmission fluid.?
The manual state if just drained and filter change to add 7 liters and that bilt is not an overfill
Help me i change transmisión and still Is ok failure Im desperate

Julie Trujillo as in motor oil?
Yes

It has been parked since. Not started or moved yet.
Drain the pain, clean it full, maybe even spray above with brake fluid then refill it if it hasn't circulated any fluid
What kind of cooler did u go with? I want to put one on my caliber too when i do the pan drop.
Robert Xiong just an Amazon universal for 25. Where you mount it is in from so didn't want to take up too much space and restrict actual flow of air
