  • This is my third time posting a Catwalk video but I think this is a much better recording, plus my first time hiking to the actual summit. If the stairs from the Gondola are open, I highly recommend it!
Catwalk is a double diamond trail at Killington, located at the summit of the mountain off the K-1 Express Gondola. You ascend a set of stairs to the right of the gondola, followed by a (flat, yet challenging) hike to the top of the trail.
I highly recommend it, along with Cascade when it is open, as a starter to the true East Coast double diamond experience. This was my first run of the day so I probably wasn't warmed up enough lol.
Advice: Keep in mind that there is no skiable terrain directly from the summit but instead before the wooden staircase and then once again after a small hike beyond it. Take a minute to enjoy the view.
Start the trail to the right of the central “mound” at the start, facing left as you glide down, mostly because the left side is far more narrow. Hockey stops are your best friend! It’s a good idea to catch your breath halfway down the trail at the, well, “catwalk” and corresponding sign, as it’s flatter there.
    Overall Difficulty: 7/10
    Relative Difficulty (Double Diamond): 3/10
Accessibility Rating: 4/10 (you have to take a flight of stairs and a short hike to reach the start of the trail)
Open Trail Index: 4/10 (Often the first double diamond to open but relies on natural snowfall only)
Enjoyment Rating: 9/10 (Amazing views! Some slight thin cover near the top, though)
I still consider myself a beginner in terms of my experience with my GoPro.

@Killian Coleman I'm travelling to US for other reasons. I'm only going to be in Killington for 4 days. It looks amazing, so no matter the weather I'm sure I'll have a great time.

@@rickycameron4008 oh nice! That area is very beautiful great nature up there. Check out the Queechee valley if killington doesn’t have enough snow to ski

I did the summit hike when I went here last week. It was super great and powdery, but i didn't do the actual catwalk trail

Did it last weekend, half the rocks were exposed and it was extremely icy. Fun but not worth it if it hasn’t snowed a lot.

I guess I'm spoiled out here in Utah, but no way I would hike for that. Is it even fun?

I just spent 4 months in Colorado and can kinda see where you’re coming from haha. But this was pretty early in the season (December pow is almost unheard of out here) and I was just happy to get some natural terrain under my skis. But this probably wouldn’t even have been open in Colorado or Utah.

@@Greg41982 Yeah that part rocks! I wouldn’t give the resort too much credit since it’s just left over from the bike park but I’m kinda glad they kept it. You made me watch the video again and it’s crazy how much my skiing has improved since I filmed this. Thanks for watching!

Steep, narrow and boney can be just as much fun as deep powder!

So basically a green trail out west.

Yall are always exaggerating this shit, yes we get it, the west has steeper trails. I’ve skied in whistler and a bunch at Squaw, and while a lot of the stuff is steeper, many things aren’t as tight or technical as the trail on the east coast. This certainly isn’t a green lol.
