- Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is one of the biggest influences of my artwork and here I'm attempting to put into words but one of the reasons that is. This is what JoJo taught me about style...and reality.

i had never seen jojo(apart from the memes), and i watched everything last month, I COULDN'T STOP, EVERYTHING WAS SO AMAZINGLY CRAZY, the characters, the fights, the story, the art style, the poses, DIO, jojo inspires me to draw poses and to create stands and so much more. if your watching this video and FOR SOME REASON you haven't watched jojo... WTF GO WATCH IT!!!
Oh man I'm so jealous, I wish I could've watched everything at once. I'm glad you loved it so much, it's something else, I can never put into words how damn entertaining it is. There's something special about how things shouldn't work, but they do.

I loved the part where you talked about stylization and realism in drawings. So many students don't get what there teachers are talking about
I think what differentiate Jojo's from other mangas is that the artstyle actually show the vomule with where the lines are drawn. In a lot of manga, the shapes are roundish and the volume is suggered with shades or "non-drawn lines that you percieve because of what's around", and too much of the wannabe manga artist in western country just can't replicate that volume without understanding of volume and perspective. Jojo's artsyle is easier to understand and replicate because it teaches you how its volume work, when most of the diferent manga artstyles just shows the mastery of volume and perspective by its authors with negative space and perfect shapes way harder to replicates without knowing how it works deeper. So teachers who tells you to dont draw anime are boring but kinda in the true, because you need to assimilate your lessons before being able to "do anime right".
If you wonder why I am so confident in my words, it's because I work in this field in France. I'm not excluded from being wrong, I'm just another opinion in the wild, but please for the love of your god learn how volume works before calling you a professional !
I really like your drawings in Araki's older style, but try drawing a character in his newer style like Gyro, Gappy, or even newer Jotaro.
Jotaro’s hat is actually ripped in the back which I think supports the fact that he gets into a lot of fights.

Whenever I look at a hyper realistic piece of art I'm most definitely impressed but I feel as though it takes away the true meaning of art. I agree with the priorities of the teachers saying that you should avoid drawing anime while you are enrolled in their class. They are teaching the skills you need to be employable. Saying you should *never* draw anime is irresponsible for that same reason.

Thank you. I have been told my entire life that I should be drawing realist pictures. I love the "cartoony" styles that I developed over the years. Then I got tired of drawing & still hear "You should be drawing realistic stuff!!!" NO. I should be drawing what & how I want. Thanks for pointing out the fallacy of art teachers!!!

I first learned about JJBA by stumbling on the OVA, finding the name to be amusing and hoping for something out of the ordinary. I was not deceived.
A few years later, the current JJBA animations started and I learned about it a few episodes into Part 1.

But I must say, your paper action figures are pretty cool.

It's because of JoJo that i am able to draw characters with actual proportions and learned a lot about how muscles work, the weird things the body does to make some poses posible, JoJo characters are challenging to draw and i think that's what was so interesting about drawing them, JoJo had an immense impact on my current style and seriously, i couldn't be more grateful that i watched such a great series that also made me a better artist
I've had the exact same experience with JoJo, nothing else has gotten me more fascinated with anatomy. Happy to hear someone else had a similar experience with the series!
