- A short video showing one way to measure height with an aerosol can.
If your tape measure is accurate, this kind of measurement should be. As you can see I am 5ft 8.25 just before teatime on this occasion. At absolute lowest I'm 5ft 8 on the nose on a day of hard physical work.
Try to measure your height at a couple of different places in your home.
Also the time of day you measure height is important as we shrink about 2cm on average during the course of the day.

Rob, this is exactly how I measure myself, only instead of using a can I use a CD jewel case. I lay it at the highest part of my head when facing forward (for me it near the back-center), and make sure all 4 corners of the case evenly touch to wall. This is how you avoid any slant. Then make your pencil mark across the bottom-center of the CD case and grab a tape measure to see where you stand.

Hey Rob! I did exactly what you did, I did it on 3 different walls and they all say something different, is that because the wall is a little bit out of line maybe?
i still get incredibly inaccurate results, it varies between 183-187cm :/ my walls are shit
Does the size of the aerosol can matter?
Does the width of the aerosol can matter? I've measured several times with different size aerosol cans, and have gotten different measurements every time. Like it could be 5'8 3/4 with the skinner can& the other time it can be 5'8 7/8 with the wider can. The wider can I'm referring to is about the size of the aerosol can you used in this video. Need help Rob!

I’m 5’5 1/2 and I had a huge crush on a guy that was 5’8. He was insecure about his height and only pursued girls 5’3 or shorter. I was deemed too tall for him especially if I put on heels.

How accurate is 'Leicester Height Measure' compared to Aerosol tube method used here.

Rob, please advise. I don't have anything to put on the floor to level out the flooring. Can you use a weight scale, like a bathroom weight scale you would find in a average household bathroom?
tried it with a book, and the measurement seemed fairly the same as on the weight scale.
Good idea. Looks like I lost at least one half inch, maybe more over the years. I will be 61 in a couple of months.

Rob. Does the object have to be a certain length or does it matter?
If it’s like 5 to 6 inches, it might not cover the high point of your skull…so nearer 8 inches is a good minimum.

Good video. I have a question. In your opinion are height and weight machines accurate?
The reason I ask is that I measured myself with your method and I was measured by somebody with the back of my head to the wall method, both times I was 176 cm, however I went on the height and weight machine at Boots and I was 174 cm. All measurements were at the same time of day.
May be you didn't take proper measure although height will come same as you said the difference is 2 cm that is very much take proper measure

So your height is 173.35 cms
You can just lower your shower head until it touches your head and then use a measuring tape, probably the most accurate way without a stadiometer.
Except my shower is quite small and the drain is towards an angle
So they said I would be 6'1" as they measured my height but I am 5'11", from being calculated at a young age and now I am 26.
I'm 5'11".5, I say I'm 6' and you know what? No-one has ever corrected me. Because most people aren't that bothered about height.

My mate hates me so much after I showed him this. He is vertically challenged at 162cm and he bought a expensive height measure(er) All you need here is a can... kewl.
Rob does it matter if you weigh more? Do you on average lose more height if weigh more? I lose about 1.5 inches by the end of the day. I'm about the same height as you.
+Harp Singh I think you'd reach your lowest height faster if you are heavier, once you get out of bed.

Michael Shoemar I really don't know, Michael, but I would guess 20 pounds heavier. I read an article where they did a study in Israel and subjects that lost weight regained height they had once lost. Concerning muscle: I'd say that may not interfere, if you strengthen your abs and back.
Matt Jones im probably about 30 pounds over weight, maybe not because i do have alot of endurance, might just be my build. i wake up around 178.5 id say and go to bed at like...176.5. just say im 5'10
Michael Shoemar I'd say that's fair. I was once 6'0.25'' out of bed, and 5'11.25'' going to bed. Now, I am under the 5'11'' mark going to bed. I used to say about 6' or 6'1'' (counting shoes) but just say about 5'11'' now. I'm, also, a little overweight, myself.

Why des carpet make you smaller and I measured by self on carpet and hard floor and I was the same height
dude dont know about inches, but just one question, there's one bookcase here who have 187cm, the last part in this bookcase got 6cm i hit the initiation of this part, so i cant say i have 181cm? this method is very similar to this one you show in the video. and how much is 181 in inches?

Rob Paul okay, what would you suggest is the most accurate way of measuring? I went to the doctors before and the measurements have been way off one another by several centimetres each time

There are more important things than height, such as kindness. You can always wear height boosting shoes if it helps you feel better :)

Then don't give those girls the time of day. I'm 5 ft 8. and i don't have too much of a problem with girls. just be confident, get in shape and be fashionable. Look at such actors as mark wahlberg and stephen dorff. those guys are shortish and they've had many girls. Don't give up!

Sorry but you or the guy you've given advice to are not celebrities so you don't have the huge money and status backing you like they do. Of course their height is irrelevant, however for the average joe, anything below 5,10ft, truth hurts but your gonna have a hard time attracting decent/hot girls unless you have a insanely good looking face.
