I also can identify with this I was a Pakeha which I was English and Welsh decent grew up with Maori people went to school I saw them no different but then I married a Maori man from NGAPUHI up North on the Clendon side up north. The Maori students were more educated and intelligent than I was. I found the Maori people I loved the culture and the warmth and love. I was never racists I learnt a lot about how other cultures how they lived. I’m proud to know Maori people now I have two children and 49 years of marriage have a lovely husband . Most important was to educate your children so they have a perspective on half cast Maori and learn about my English an Welsh culture and their Maori culture it’s their identity they can be proud of where they come from. We live Sydney now and we as their parents we are very proud that education set them to know their heritage. We both had big Families back in the day. Our children are adults now and they both love the Maori values. Our daughter has just had time with her family of 4 to show them her heritage Part Maori and enjoy this journey. We in both families have Australian and Chilean plus Burmese an Asian plus Turkish and Swedish so how wonderful to learn the culture and values of other people. Te Reo very interesting listening to the language. The Māori culture inspires us the music. ❤❤

I grew up in the eighties in Auckland with a Polynesian mother & European father. I can relate to a lot of the stories told. Thank you so much for sharing this documentary.
